My cousins and I came here last summer to watch a movie and had a great time. We all enjoyed the atmosphere and felt like we were submerged into the 80s. We came back this year and too are surprise, it was an awful experience. We bought our tickets for an R- rated movie and didn't expect much after since we are all 17+. My cousin is very clearly 21+ and forgot there ID at home, not expecting anything from it. As soon as they asked us for our tickets they demanded very rudely that we all show them our IDs. I completely respect a movie theaters right to ID, but the way they spoke to us all was VERY shocking. Isla was extremely rude. I don't like to complain about things because I understand working in customer service, I do myself. but there is absolutely NO reason to be that rude to people, especially when they aren't being rude to you. I'm hoping we just caught them on a bad day because we are not from here, but I am very disappointed, and frankly shocked. Will not be back. read more

This cinema could be nice I think, but the employees are very rude! They wouldn't let me and my very obviously 21+ siblings in to an R rated movie because they forgot their IDs at home. I get that it's within their rights to ID for a movie, but the way the employees spoke to us was honestly shocking, especially when I asked for a refund. Holy heck! I'm trying not to be a snob, but this is the worst movie theater I've ever seen. A peep show in 1970s-era New York Times Square is cleaner - and more vibrant, since this place is the last holdout in a decrepit and abandoned shopping mall for the Pliestocene era. The snack bar is impossibly slow, because the kid selling the popcorn, which the manager unloads into the hopper barehanded from a big trash bag, is also operating the box office. And don't bother buying tickets online, because the ticket taker will send you back to the (long) box office/snack line to exchange your receipt for paper tickets. Also don't bother bringing your own snacks or even water, because they'll be confiscated - they actually inspect bags - and even if you manage to sneak something in, the kid who sold you tickets and popcorn will be doing flashlight sweeps in the auditorium to catch scofflaws. Seriously, this is why people buy home theater setups. That said, this is the only game in town when it comes to cinemas, so if you find yourself here on a rainy day, note the above and enjoy the show anyway -even if it basically feels like going to a movie in a dumpster... read more

Spent $100 on tickets and concessions for the family to come here. The manager literally hunted me down in the theater with a flashlight because I had my small coffee thermos. He was rude and arrogant, ready to cause a scene. Don't go here, he is not human. read more

While on vacation in NH, my husband and I popped in here to see a matinee of Super 8. Super nice Boston theatres, it is not. But we weren't expecting that, so it was fine. My issue mainly lies with the sounds system. I noticed in the previews that whenever the sound would get really loud (we saw a few action trailers), the sound would fuzz. Didn't seem *too* apparent during the movie, though. Happy to report that the concession crap costs just as much in a tiny NH town as it does in Boston. Small theatre, which I like, but that also meant I got to smell the bathroom on the way in as well as the old lady perfume and the Axe body spray of our neighbors. Ahh, small town "multiplexes." You feel like you're walking into an abandoned mall. In fact, when I looked for the entrance upon getting out of the car, the Panda Garden restaurant looked like it was long closed and I couldn't find the "mall" entrance right away. I think "mall" means "JC Penney" here. It definitely felt like an old multiplex, though. Perhaps built in the 80s? Overall, the experience was fine. FYI, they don't take AmEx or Discover! read more

Well. This place, wasn't bad. I'm not from this area and not familiar at all with it. The cinema was very difficult to find, there was no sign at all on the exterior of the building, only a road sign. The business had a small plastic "cinema entrance" banner above the doorway. I rather liked the people, the concessions, as well as the place. I've been to more swanky theaters , but I go for the movie not the atmosphere,provided it's clean, and this is. It's not like Cousin Pearl Bodine is playing the piano down front or anything but it is a bit dated , however, so am I. They do little thing to prove they care and that works for me. This is the best theater you are going to find in the area. We have been coming to this theater annually for years now because we own a condo up in this area. The theater has some things they're doing right and other things in desperate need of upgrading. Things done well: 1. They fully upgraded the sound and picture quality. Nicely done. 2. Popcorn is fresh and they don't load it with butter and salt. Instead, they allow you to have butter put on it if you choose to. In addition, they offer numerous salt and flavor toppings that the customer can put on their own popcorn. Bucket of popcorn comes with same day, one time refill. 3. They have 25 cent candy in the hall on the way to the movies. This is a great, inexpensive option that I wish more theaters had. There are bags available to put the candy in and a decent assortment including Hot Tamales, Reeses Pieces, and Mike & Ike's. 4. Theater is kept relatively clean and in good shape, including the bathrooms. Now the bad: 1. The seats. They are very uncomfortable and very old. Although they are on a slight incline, they are not stadium style seating. This part I can overlook. The real issues is the seats are so close together that you get very cozy with anyone sitting next to you or behind you. VERY COZY. The leg room does not exist.. Forget it if you're tall. You are going to be crammed in like a sardine with your legs twisted. If someone has to get up in your row, the entire row will need to evacuate to let them out. There is no way someone can slip between the seats and row in front of them to get out. It's not going to happen. The seats also sit very low to the ground, are small and not comfortable. 2. The screens are small. This is disappointing, but not a deal breaker. 3. The walls are thin so you can really hear the movie going on in the next theater over. Usually at theaters you hear a bit of base from other movies, or a loud boom, but you can hear a lot more than that at this place. Really sucks if the movie next door is loud and your's is quiet. 4. Like most of the Conway area, they serve Pepsi products instead of Coke. I know for some this might be a plus, but it definitely isn't for our family. :) Still, this place shows up to date movies and overall is not bad. me and my fiancé went and saw the Barbie movie. first of all really fun and good movie! alright, now for the bad. the employees we're lifeless, they did not want to be bothered and they had major attitudes. This is how this cinema has been ever since Jan stepped down and the new manager took over, rude and generally shitty. Now the ugly. During the movie an electrical unit kept coming on, it seemed to be an A/C and was blowing into the room in cinema 3. After the movie, me and my fiancé or whoever we went to see the movie with usually have a lively conversation with great energy. Me and my fiancé were both feeling: confused, exhausted, nauseous, small headaches and a little short on breath. Now disclaimer we are smokers. Usually we can go three to 4 hours without a smoke before we feel the lack of nicotine lightheadedness... having a cigarette did not fix this. IT was so bad we couldn't even focus on grocery shopping we were so out of it and drained! so now we are home trying to stay awake, drinking water and stepping outside for fresh air when we can! If we were just poisoned by Carbon Monoxide then heed my advice! do not go here! the building has not been updated since the mid 2000's asides from removing the mall and the mini carousel. I only pray the two old ladies that shared that cinema with us are okay. read more

This place sucks. I went on Saturday to watch Aqua-man and within the first 20 minutes the movie turned off. They made us wait 20 minutes until they turned the movie on. They replayed the last 10 minutes of the movie. After 5 minutes the movie shut off AGAIN. They made us wait 30 minutes before saying we could have a 1/2 refund or a ticket exchange. The person was very persnickety and said that it wasn't their fault and not to be mad. This Cinema was a waste. In the future I will watch a movie at home or none so I don't have to come here again. I will never be caught dead within a 1 mile radius of the North Conway Cinema! P.S. they had had project problems all day and continued to sell tickets. What an OUTRAGE!!! read more

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!! I would give it -5 stars if I could. This movie theater is disgusting. It has mouse poop in corners and popcorn all over the seats. When we were trying to watch aqua man and the projector turned off twice. And it had been happening all day yet the continued to sell tickets. The first time it was around 15 minuets of waiting and reminded the movie when it came back on. The second took half an hour. Then a lady who was quite persnickety if you ask me came in and told us the projector was broken and we couldn't watch the movie. She wouldn't give me a full refund for the whole package I got. Not to mention the tickets were overpriced. Therefor we waisted around 40 to 50 (My whole family came). To add on the service is terrible; when the movie stoped I went to the water fountain and the ticket collecter almost didn't let me back in. It would of been a favor if he wouldn't let me in. 15 minutes late - blank screen & silence - they announce that there's a problem with the 3D movie (duh!) but they 'think' they can fix it in 10-15 minutes more ... they keep selling tickets (and rip-off food), packing more people in 15, 20, 25 minutes late, then announce they can't fix it, and we can stand in line for a refund (minus rip-off food). Breakdowns happen; keeping people in the dark (no pun), selling more tickets, selling more rip-off food to late arrivals - that sucks! read more

HORRIBLE customer service. The "manager" working the box office was very rude. Went to the movies with my 3 children and none of the seats open were near each other, so politely asked to just get our money back. The manager said "what's the problem" with a bad attitude. As he huffed and puffed on his way to the cash register he asked how much we paid. I paid 52.50 because we bought the tickets online, he then just rudely said that all he was giving back to us was 45$ because that's all the tickets cost. He threw the cash on the counter and just walked away. We then pulled up our receipt showing that we paid 52.50$ and he was very rude and dismissive and said "well that's the surcharges and I'm not refunding those". I will never go back to this movie theater. After spending 42$ in the concession stand alone on popcorn and soda and candy I would think they would be a little more considerate with at least trying to make accommodations for my children and I. Best option for movies in North Conway. They upgraded the video last year so the 3D looks great! Smaller screens and chairs a bit uncomfortable but clean and good video / sound. We go there every year we vacation in Conway. read more

Unfortunately, this place is the Only option for a movie out. The signage is confusing as there is no real box office when you arrive to buy tickets. After waiting for some time, we realized we needed to buy tickets at the concession stand. The overzealous staff/manager was rude and not friendly at all! The theatre was dirty and the seats were very uncomfortable. With that said, my kids seemed to enjoy themselves as it beat going outside in the polar vortex. read more

Although Amanda A has a point about not always knowing the entrance. Being from the town I know the mall I believe was built prior to the 80's and used to be a big mall with a bookstore/fashion bug/jc penny and an arcade among some other stores. But within the last 10 years because it was too run down the owner decided to knock some of it down and make it a more movie theatre/ dept store complex than a mall. It is nicer and you smell the bathrooms anywhere. Even in the big ones.. From been to several big city ones INCLUDING Boston and the bigger city theatre's in Mass and other places as well you still smell the bathrooms when you walk by. Some even more so than the ones in the Mountain Valley Mall. They are actually cleaner than the ones in the city. My complaints are : the the food and concessions do cost a lot but that is to be expected at a movie theatre. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The point system could be less points: you have to dump 100 bucks to get a free movie. But it is good concession works towards those too.. Although I've spent over 100 bucks there during the card system was up and did not get any points because the machines were not running on the concession side yet for points. read more

I love to go to the movies. My son,Wife,and I go atleast once every couple of months normally we enjoy our experience but lately people talk during the movie, come in and leave there young children and go see another movie cell phones going off etc. does anybody believe in movie etiquet anymore it seem most of them are from out of state. people pay alot of money to go see movies now adays so figure it out your not at home shut cell phones and mouths and keep kids under control and let other people enjoy the movies. don't be the one that ruins it for everybody. read more

I've been to this movie theater twice and both times was not impressed in the least bit. First off, the entrance is hard to find and very uninviting. The theaters are so outdated, they smell like urine and the seats are dirty with hardly any cushion left. You sit down and sink down all the way until you feel the support bars on the bottom. And I am not a heavy person. No stadium style seating either, so you have to hope that no one sits in front of you or you won't be able to see over their head. It amazes me that the owners do not take more pride in this theater, being the only one around for miles and miles. I went once, was disappointed. I gave it another try, was equally disappointed. I will not go back. I understand that this theater was modern and nice in it's time, however it's obvious that nothing has been changed for a LONG time. At least lower the prices. For a $9.00 movie ticket, it's worth the drive to Magic Lantern in Bridgton or even all the way to Cinemagic near Portland. read more
