Very uncomfortable seats. It's the closest theater near Wolfeboro but seats are not comfy.

Movie was great but that's it. There is an axe throwing place next door and we could hear the talking, cheering, and constant pounding of the axes being thrown the entire movie. The bathrooms were dirty as if they hadn't been swept in days. The seats are old fashioned and uncomfortable. Worth going to a different cinema. The staff were friendly. read more

Previous good experiences. Old school movie theatre - no selecting seats in advance, no recliners. For a small town it gets the job done. However on one of the biggest release dates that movies theaters have had in a while they were not prepared AT ALL. Barbie and Oppenheimer opened and they had such long ticket and concession lines. They had no popcorn and let tons of people wait in 10min+ lines to tell them rather than making a sign or an announcement. The lady at the ticket booth was nice and offered refunds to many when they complained about no refreshments. This movie theater is ridiculous I was trying to buy a ticket to a rated R movie and on the tacky website for the theater says "17 years or older can go to rated R movies" and we were verbally harassed by a hag at the front door saying we couldn't go in without a 21 year old. this theater is a scam and that women needs to be terminated effective immediately read more

We went to an afternoon movie on a weekday (January 2018). The skeleton crew apparently didn't care that the place was filthy!! Main floors were a mess with dirt and food trash, the bathroom trash was overflowing and sinks were a mess with water and trash. It was so dirty, I decided I would never go back! read more

I went down to Gilford Cinema 8 to see the movie skyscraper. At the counter the staff was very pleasant and friendly. I got my popcorn and drink and went down to the viewing room. The theater was very nice and the seating was soft and comfortable. The lights going down the isle is a very cool touch as most of the movie theaters I go to don't have this feature. My soda was cool and fizzy. My popcorn could've been better as it was just OK. After the movie I walked out and checked out the arcade section of the theater. The games are pretty old and it's kind of small for my taste. But overall I had a good movie experience and I would recommend this place a try if your looking for a theater to go to. I know I will be heading there again soon. read more

I personally love this theater. Perhaps it's because I have fond memories of coming here as a teen, but mostly because this place is never busy. There are no long lines, no full theaters where you have to fight for a seat, things are not ridiculously overpriced and there is always plenty of parking. If you are looking for a fancy theater with lots of extras like reclining seats and booze then you will need to go elsewhere. If you want a classic theater with an old school feel...you will love this place, chintzy carpet and all! read more

For being one of the only movie theaters within a 30 minutes drive, it gets to job done. It's not large in scale by any means, but it's adequate in the amount of space, seating, etc. They always keep their lobby area, hallway, and bathroom clean. They have the usual refreshments and goodies at tolerable prices. Plenty of parking. Employees are always nice enough. Since this is the only movie theater in this immediate are, it is where most people go without driving a distance. It's location can put you off since it is in a sad looking little strip mall dating back in time with empty units with one electrical business open during the day and a pizza restaurant at the very end. Parking is easy due to the size of the lot and building occupancy being low. Inside, the theater is very clean and has decent clean restrooms. The concession stand has a good offering of items such as the typical popcorn, candy and drinks.The prices at the concession stand seem somewhat outrageous, but seem to be on par with other theaters. Prices for movies themselves are good---much better than in larger, busy cities. The building is broken up into several small theaters so there is a varied offering of movies at any given time. Sometimes, it can be chilly in there, but it wasn't on our visit today which was a plus considering the temps outside. The lobby also has games to play for a fair price of you're interested in those. For this small central New Hampshire town this cinema gets the job done. It even has a space for kids parties and a respectable row of arcade games. Sadly, the strip mall that it anchors has only a pizza parlor and a skate park. The prices are reasonable, $6.50 to $8.50 for a movie depending on the time of day. read more

In an era of mega screen corporate owned cinemas, it's refreshing to visit a family owned and operated theater. They get all the first run movies, the seats are comfortable and the theaters aren't too big. The screens area good size, sound is fine and the concessions carry all the usual goodies. Whenever I have a choice to support the Mom and Pop venues of the world, I do. This is a positive movie going experience. read more

Definetly not your worlds greatest cinema but it gets the job done. Theater has alot of seating and is never that crowded which i like. Only drawback is that the movie never seems to start when its supposed to. Dont have to worry about a bunch of kids ruining the movie because they talk through the whole thing. Worst experience ever! My mom and I took my 17 year old son and his friend to the movies. When we arrived the manager asked for ID's since the boys were going to see an R rated movie. It was a strange interaction, it felt like they were being arrested or something - not a very welcoming manager. She then asked to inspect our bags. We told her that when she did an inspection of all of our bags that she would find snacks and candy because my son is Type One Diabetic and we always have to have snacks and candy on us. We explained that it could be a matter of life and death and she insisted that we empty our bags and leave any food with her. We have been to all kinds of theaters, concert halls, clubs, museums, stores, and we have never had our diabetes supplies taken away from us. I will never return to this theatre again. I asked to speak to her supervisor and/or the owner and she insisted that I email her and that she would relay my concerns. I trust my concern will not get to the right person, so that is why I have left this review. It was upsetting for my kid, my mom, and me and there are other theaters who have much nicer managers and an understanding of diabetics needs. read more

These folks are the best. I've been going there for years and the staff, especially Jacinda, go above and beyond to make your experience great. The theaters are small and intimate and make the movie seem like your getting a private viewing. The popcorn is great and the place is always clean. I had the worst customer experience with an arrogant, young teenager at the concession stand. In a 100 degree heat storm, I took two elderly women to the movies to get them out the heat. As the women purchased popcorn and drinks, the girl noticed I had an iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts and told me I could not bring it in to the theatre. I explained that I was driving the elderly women to Boston after the movie, and the coffee would keep me alert. She became more unpleasant and aggressive. I asked if she had iced coffee I could purchase. She said 'no' but offered me hot coffee in a record breaking heat wave. I choice not to continue the debate. As I was giving our tickets to enter the theatre, she came running from behind the counter and yelled through the lobby that I could not bring my coffee into the theatre. I left the coffee at the counter and will never view a movie at the Gilford Cinema 8 again. In fact, I told the houseful of local residents I was staying with how we were treated and they agreed to boycott the cinema and tell others to do so as well. read more

Went there on a rainy Sunday with family after buying tickets online. As we pulled into the parking lot we noticed that the line stretched out the door and down the sidewalk. We couldn't believe the number of people standing in line in the rain, among them many children. We thought we were smart for buying our tickets online but we were told that we still had to stand in line for tickets! We decided to skip the movie because there was no way we could make through the line in time to attend. I asked the manager how to cancel our tickets and he told us that if we didn't get a paper ticket our credit card wouldn't be charged because by "buying" online we were only reserving our seats! As he said this he let the person next in line know that her movie was sold out...after she had already bought tickets online! I watched this process repeat itself several times - people being turned away after waiting in line in the rain. What a terrible system! Skip this place and head to Weirs Drive In, much better experience! read more

Everyone knows the thrill of going into a movie theater with your newly bought snacks from dollar general for 1$. You sneak it in the most obvious way possible, yet when you manage to get past you still feel a sense of thrill and rebellion. Well listen here, I could be out doing drugs, instead I was thinking "hey I would like some Pringle's while watching a pleasant movie" well this women thought not. Me, a minor, was searched and my food taken from me, wondering how this could happen. Who's food actually is taken while sneaking it into the theater??? :( this women who probably kicks puppies on her way to work, took candy from us: children. Movie was great, but my longing for my salt and vinegar Pringle's was not satisfied. My minimum wage job doesn't pay me enough to pay 4719 million dollars for food. Guess I'll drop out and get a 10$ per hour job to afford popcorn. Thanks women for hating education, taking candy from children, and making my friend cry. read more

BE PREPARED TO BUNDLE UP.... We went to the movies here in November and froze our butts off. There weren't a lot of people in the theater and I wondered if they need a certain quota to turn the heat on. We complained to the manager who basically shrugged her shoulders. The acoustics are bad too. We could hear the very loud movie next door. We won't be back. Instead we'll go the few extra miles to Meredith where they actually care about their customers. read more
