The view is absolutely amazing! From the top you can see Magen's Bay. We got there when they opened so we waited until the bar was set up to try a banana daiquiri. The shop is huge! We bought shirts for our niece and nephew. We enjoyed the banana daquiri. This is way better than Drake's Seat. We had good phone service up here because we were close to the cell phone towers haha. We were there for about an hour and by then so many taxis and buses were there on tours. That's how we were able to get a coupe of pictures together! I highly recommend visiting Mountain Top if you're in St. Thomas - it's a must-do! read more

Mountain Top was one of my favorite stops while exploring St. Thomas, here in the US Virgin Islands! I didn't even know the place existed until I casually grabbed a little pamphlet of "to-do" recommendations when I arrived at the airport. I initially ventured over to Charlotte Amalie Overlook and Drake's Seat to check out the views from there, but I was pretty disappointed in the scenic panoramas from those spots. Then when I browsed through the guided booklet, I stumbled upon this - Mountain Top - and the wonderful sights this place offered from high above. So fortunately, while sitting in my car at the Drake's Seat Overlook, I simply plugged "Mountain Top" into Google Maps and boom!....it was located only 3.5 kilometers away! That's one thing I was grateful for during my time visiting St. Thomas (and also St. John).....is that cell phone reception was perfect! I was constantly using my phone and Google Maps to get around. Otherwise obviously I would have been lost. Arriving at Mountain Top...I found parking immediately during the early afternoon. Approaching the building I was quite impressed. It was colorful and eye catchy. Many people mentioned it's a tourist trap, well.....I like tourist traps and I was happy to be there! Inside....the entire place was one giant sized souvenir and gift shop. That was ideal for me because I love to purchase postcards, keychains, magnets, shot glasses and plenty of other chachkies. Lol...this place was right up my alley! I was able to grab all my little trinkets here like I always look for when I travel. Heading towards the rear and situated in the back area of Mountain Top was a massive/tropical bar type setup where a posted banner stated....Mountain Top - "Home of the World Famous" Banana Daiquiri! Wonderful....I love daiquiris, especially banana.....and after roaming around the island of St. Thomas I was excited to sit down, relax and cool off with a drink. But little did I know the main attraction was behind the bar and outside on the overlook deck. Wow....just what I was asking for.....an absolutely stunning view overlooking St. Thomas! Whoa....the scenery here was much much better than anything I witnessed at Charlotte Amalie Overlook and Drake's Seat. For me, this was the real deal and I was in awe of the blue turquoise waters, panoramic setting and landscape! I immediately forgot about getting a daiquiri and gazed out into the distance! Yes....this was beautiful! I grabbed some real nice pics and soaked up the moment. Then I was ready for a banana daiquiri, lol. Alright well, although I forgot to take a picture of the menu, there were 4 different options of sizes to choose from. And yes....the prices were quite expensive! The smallest I believe was an 8 oz. for $9.95. I chose the second size - 15 oz. for $14.95 which came in a souvenir cup. The 3rd and 4th options were in even larger sizes for even more money! But...the bartender sold me on the whole taking home the souvenir cup. So with a $3 tip, it cost $17.95.....but I never let money hold me back when I'm on vacation. For me....the daiquiri was delicious with plenty of alcohol that afterwards when I finished the entire cup, I was definitely buzzing, but good enough to continue driving my car around the island. The bartender did allow for me to carry my drink outside onto the patio and overlook so I could appreciate more the picturesque surroundings. I really did enjoy just hanging at looking at the views while sipping on the daiquiri. It gave me a moment to enjoy just how far I traveled to get to such a terrific view. Finally, I grabbed a shopping basket and walked around the entire store (which was pretty big) grabbing all the keepsakes I needed representing my time from St. Thomas. In all, I'd say I spent about 2 - 2.5 hours here at Mountain Top. Reflecting back, I was grateful to have found this place. Not only did it offer the majestic backdrop of St. Thomas, but it gave me an opportunity to relax and freshen up with an island drink including picking up all my souvenir items for my vacation. And...I was thrilled to have discovered Mountain Top in the St. Thomas guidebook of "Things To Do". Who woulda thought picking up a regular ole pamphlet from the baggage area at the airport would come in so handily?! read more

The lowest price tourist shirts I've seen in St. Thomas. I got two shirts and they were $17 each and good quality. The banana daiquiris are also so good! They put a lot of rum in them (about half of our 8oz cup was dark Cruzan rum) so watch out! We got most of our souvenirs here. read more

Popped up here to check out the view, have a dacquari and relive one of the stops on our wedding day 10 years ago. It is pretty kitchy, with a strong pirate these, but that is OK. It is pretty much a huge store, a bar, and a deck outback looking over the North coast of St Thomas. It is a tourist stop, but it is also worthwhile. The drinks were pretty good and not insanely priced, the view was definitely worth the drive and the t shirts were actually not overpriced. read more

The tourist trap of mountain top is open again after hurricane irma and Maria. 1/3 of this store is out of commission due to product damage but they still have a great variety of souvenirs, clothing, jewelry and rum to select from. The famous Banana Daiquiri station at the back of the store is also open. Pricing of everything is still pretty steep but there aren't many other options right now to get these kinds of things if you're coming in on one of the cruise ships. I always referred visitors to Kmart to get souvenirs to take back home bc it's the cheapest but those stores are just nasty right now. Pearl jewelry is all 50% off so there are some good deals to be had here. It also looks like mountain top didn't get much damage on their observation deck. The look out is still in tact and it's a nice spot to sip on a drink and take in the natural AC out there. So this is a four star place mostly for the AMAZING VIEW! It is totally worth the crazy drive up there and don't be scared off if you don't have a SUV/Jeep as our little Nissan Versa totally made it up there:) I also believe many of the open aired taxis go up there if you don't want to drive there or are a bit intimidated by it. Basically it is your typical touristy shop so if you need to find a few last minute gifts it is perfect. I am not much for these kind of places BUT their award winning Banana Daiquiri made the shopping so much more pleasant! My suggestion is go directly to the bar, get a drink, do a little shopping and then go out and enjoy what I think is one of the most amazing views on the islands. Mountain Top is the Walmart of tourist traps. The one souvenir shop to rule them all. The grand Poobah of tchotchke shops. Basically, it's a massive building located, as its name would suggest, on the top of a mountain. I can't think of a reason to go on one's own but it seems like the kind of place that will be on every island tour. That said, it's not without merit. There is a bar that should keep the non-shoppers entertained and the view from the far side deck is spectacular. I was just left wanting to at the ocean instead of at Mountain Top. read more

I came here for the banana daiquiris, but stayed for the views. This place was recommended on Trip Advisor, several reviewers said you MUST try the banana daiquiri. It was unimpressive, crowded, expensive and needed more banana. This is a primary stop for many tours, so it gets crowded. There's a large gift shop that sells standard souvenirs and snacks, the bar is in the back of the shop along with doors that exit to beautiful, sweeping views of the island. I would not return here, but if it's your first time on the island, it's a great place to take pictures and take in the scenery... and any daiquiri is refreshing on a warm day. read more

Let me start off by saying, your ears will pop driving up to this place. Mountain top shows the best aerial view. When arriving to Mountain top, it's very windy and feels great. This place has one of the best gift shops I have ever seen. Nice quality, tons of options, if you want souvenirs for your trips buy them here. They may not be too cheap, but they're definitely better than most of you will find out there. Mountain top also offers some of the most delicious bananas daiquiris I have had on the island. I suggest anyone coming here should try daiquiri. But the one part I loved the most was outside the balcony that has some of thee best amazingly views. Oh this was a very challenging and somewhat scary ride to drive to the top but was it was definitely rewarding! Awesome awesome view of Magens bay plus the whole area Virgin Island (including the UK)!!! Great and reasonably priced gift shop! Clean and modern! There is a bar which serves the famous banana daiquiris ... a small is $10.95 if you want a souvenir cup that will cost $15.00 but you get more drink! I didn't care for it (they sell other drinks) but my wife LOVED LOVED IT!!! Food choices are very very limited. TIP: Go on a clear and sunny day! Go after lunch! Definitely a nice spot to visit when on the island, we really liked the view from this mountain top. There is a picture display on the deck which shows all the nearby islands, which is super cool and helpful and the view itself is breathtaking. We got to take a lot of nice pictures with that cool backdrop of islands and Magen's bay. Of course this spot is famous with tourists but I don't like to call this as a tourist trap as no salesperson pushed us to buy anything from the gift shop. If you are ever in Saint Thomas... you have to visit mountain top. It's a must! The view alone is worth it! The best view of Magens Bay and the Virgin Islands! The banana Daiquiris are worth the drive. Delicious! It is touristy so be prepared. There is ample parking which is great. FYI... it does get busy during cruise season so I recommend you check out when the ships come in because it is a popular excursion and it does get packed! While on a tour of the island we stopped here to see the impressive views. The shop is a perfect spot for souvenir shopping because their are so many options and the prices vary but are affordable. They constantly promote their famous banana daiquiri from the time you enter until you leave. Of course I had to try it - but unfortunately I was not impressed. It was not the best tasting daquiri that Ive had by far. To me it tasted like a slushy full of cheap but strong banana flavored liquor. Hard drinkers my be a fan of this but not me-no thanks. Customer service: 3 stars: it was neither bad nor exceptional. Selection of merch: 5 stars: do not buy souvenirs near the market place or village. This place has better quality and you won't have to haggle or deal with begging ass people trying to sell you their wares. Store: 5 stars: they have the a.c. blasting!v They also sell nutty Bavarian nuts, misc snacks, soft drinks, and water for reasonable prices. Shirts are either 2 for $20, 2 for $25 so on and so forth. They sell everything from magnets to some toiletry items. There is also a bar area where you can have drinks made and put in a souvenir cup. There is an area outside where you can take scenic photos. They also sell rum cakes, rum, and other liquors. If you need an extra bag to carry on your flight they have those too from $10-$25 depending on how big and the style. Everything you could want or need is here, don't waste your time going from store to store in the heat and it's hot a.f. in those stores as well. This is a one stop shop without the hassle. Overall: the best place in st thomas to get reasonably priced souvenirs. I dropped $100 and purchased 6 rum cakes, 2 magnets, roasted pecans, 5 adult t shirts, and some other knick knacks. I think that's a good price for all that I bought. I would diffinitely come back. read more

In order to get there you will experience hill slope hills, so hold to your seats. Once you get there, expect a very long although very rewarding line to get your banana daiquiri. While exploring St. Thomas, we headed up to Mountain Top to see what all the fuss was about. I guess I didn't know what to expect, but honestly, I wasn't expecting a massive gift shop! But, that's what you find at Mountain Top, also a bar that serves what they tout as the World Famous Banana Daiquiri. Since I don't actually like banana flavored things, I had a Pina Colada. The gift shop has sooooooooooo much stuff, but our favorite was the 2 for $10 dresses. I got two and my mom got four! In fact, I'm wearing one as I write this! Otherwise it;s all the usual touristy ticky tacky gifts you find at a souvenir shop anywhere, but all under one roof. When you step outside you get a beautiful view of Magen's Bay and the British Virgin Islands in the distance. It's really lovely. One of the best parts of this location is the breeze that keeps you cool. It's one of the coolest places I found on the island while we were there, so consider that if it's a particularly hot day. It was worth the drive up there, but that's all that is there. They say there is a botanical garden, but that is actually at a different location. So, there isn't much to do there but take photos, shop and drink. But we liked it. Also, while the parking is up above the store and you walk down stairs to get there, if you continue on the driveway, it circles down so that those who have access needs can either be dropped off at the front door or if you have a handicap placard, you can park down close to the front entrance. read more

Amazing stunning views of St. Thomas! A great spot for picture perfect photos!!!! The road up to this mountain top was definitely an excursion adventure by itself with crazy 90 degree angle turns. Luckily we rented a jeep! I recommended if you drive there, do NOT go back down pass sun set. We did and all I have to say is that are mightily luckily we are alive. On our way back, we got lost with barely any street lights so it was hard to see especially with loopy road conditions. Overall, it was a beautiful visit! However, even though they are FAMOUS for their banana daiquiri, my husband with my two friends and I thought the STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRI tasted waaaaaayyyyy better than the banana one. So save your money and just try the strawberry one (not on their menu)!! read more

This was a trip to say the least. The ride to the place is a roller coaster- very long and the roads make your stomach drop- better trust your driver. Getting there I expected a lot more. One building with one bar and a giant gift shop. Clothes and stuff were cheap so good for gifts. Drinks were good. Views were the only actually good thing. Place is a big tourist trap, be prepared. the view from here is beautiful, we lucked out and came on a non-cruise ship day and there was just handful of people. We tried the famous banana daiquiri and even though i'm not a fan of bananas this isn't too bad, maybe because there was definitely more rum than bananas. There's also the biggest gift shop up here and if you want to get souvenirs they have everything you can think of. and is it just me? or no one wants to work? everyone looked busy but no one wanted to open a cash register when we wanted to make a purchase, instead they send us all the way back to the bar to pay. I gotta say the only person who was working for their pay was definitely the bartender, he was not only making drinks but helping the other couple with their questions and ringing us out, this place needs more workers like that not the ladies who were at three different cash register, too busy 'restocking' items to help customers. read more
