We were stranded, not from…read morejust one, but two different lodgings while in the Rangeley, Stratton, Eustis area of Maine. It was 9:45pm and other motels, hotels, and lodgers were not answering their phones. On a whim I dialed saddleback inn, and thank god we did! Not only did someone pick up the phone, but they stayed on site until we arrived and we were a good 35 mins away. If anyone has driven route 16 north from rangeley to Stratton they know it's moose alley at dusk especially, they knew and told us to be careful and that they would be waiting. They were right, we saw 7, four females, one with a baby, and two males with racks bigger then mine!! At one point we really thought we may have to sleep in the car... they saved the night and the trip for us. We can not thank them enough. The room was warm, clean and had everything we needed. The sheets on the bed were wonderful and smelled of clean linens. No smoking in the rooms but they give you what you need out on the balcony outside, where smoking is allowed. Being so late to the area, we actually missed our dinner place by an hour. Thank god the saddleback had a fridge and microwave for us to at least have something to eat. They supplied all the goods for a shower and had hairdryers available at the office. The towels were soft and they had extra pillows for the beds. They have dish tv, and so, we were able to watch a movie or two. They do have sleep hours, when no one is in the office, but they do always have someone on site and a phone number you can call if you need assistance. This place was truly wonderful and everything a lodging should be in the hospitality industry. The best pasty was waking up in the morning and stepping onto the balcony and seeing the lake down the way. Such a good view to wake up to when it was too dark to see the night before. We are already planning our next trip, with a stay at the Saddleback Inn in Rangeley Maine. They go above and beyond for travelers in the area and you would be lucky to have them host you and your family !

While we were driving through northern N.H., we got caught in a snow storm that slowed us down. A little after 8pm, I received a call from Marjorie reminding me of the reservation and asking if we were still coming. When I explained the situation and let her know we were still about an hour away, she gave me our room number and said she would turn on the heat and leave our room unlocked with the key inside. When we arrived, the room was warm and welcoming, had a very clean odor, and was in great condition. It looked like they either recently did a thorough reno or they just keep up with the paint and cleaning unlike most places I've been. I can't say whether the rooms are soundproof due to the fact that we went on a Sunday night in the off season, so there were only 2 other cars in the lot and I don't think they put us in adjoining rooms because it was super quiet. The ladies who I checked out with the next morning were really friendly and helpful. All in all, this was 5 stars, and I will stay there again if I find myself in the area again.

What a gem - positively magical place!! I came to the lakes region in search of Moose and Loons so…read moreI made sure to book a room in the Haley Pond Lodge section to be right on the water. And while I still haven't found any moose, I saw my first loons in real life right behind my room AND managed to capture their haunting song on video right from my patio!! This beautiful inn has been around for over 100 years - and the inside of the main lodge is full of antiques and is oozing with Victorian charm - so warm and inviting!! All the staff were just fantastic- caring and eager to help and so friendly - in the lodge and the tavern both. I reserved a water view king room in the Haley Pond Lodge and it was huge!! Lots of shelf space and a huge patio overlooking the pond - just magnificent! The room had a standard coffee maker, microwave and fridge. The bathroom was beautiful and everything was spotlessly clean. Water pressure and temp worked perfectly. The grounds are the best part - there are mallard ducks all over the place. I saw two deer right outside my room when I first arrived. One night I heard a moose bugling (mating call) and it was so loud haha! Shame I never saw him lol. There are tons of species of waterfowl on the pond - I saw Ring-necked Ducks and Mergansers!! And the best part was I saw LOONS!! At first, I found a mated pair right out back from my room - and they were fishing - it was so fantastic! And I saw more out across the pond bathing and preening. The mornings were super foggy which created such an eerie ambiance and the loons were crying their haunting song - oh it was just magical! Breakfast isn't included but is served daily. I didn't try it so can't speak to it but I did have dinner in the tavern one night and it was fabulous. I got the Parmesan crab dip and a tavern salad with grilled salmon - all totally delicious. I visited in late September so the fall foliage was just starting to come in - I can only imagine how gorgeous it is during peak foliage. This is a marvelous place to base yourself out of for wildlife chasing, skiing, summer fun on the lakes - for really any kind of vacation honestly. Haley Pond Lodge is detached from the main inn and set quite a ways back - but the grounds are easily walkable. There's plenty of parking and it's very centrally located in the adorable town of Rangeley. I even walked over to the huge Rangeley Lake a few times bc it's so close - it's especially wonderful at sunset. Prices for food and lodging are reasonable, even during peak seasons. All in all I had a great experience and will most definitely be back - without a doubt!

Asked me multiple times how I booked it (which I did through her website). She even said this system is "retarded" Even though my Reservation was made with Amex Platinum, when I checked in Owner swore up and down they did not take Amex. After arguing for about five minutes I dug out my Chase Visa and paid that way. She had the nerve to charge me an extra $40 over the confirmed amount. Said it is their 4% policy for using credit cards and above her pay grade to return it. I showed her again the confirmation and she acted like she needed to call the Owner (which is her and her Husband). She finally tried to refund the amount and could not do it so she handed me $40 cash and made a snide remark as I left to go to my room. All the while she was rude to someone who called her while she was being abusive to me. Rooms are fine. Not many choices in Rangeley, but this Owner needs to reevaluate how they treat their Customers.

Raising their family, and now 6 grandchildren in Rangeley has proven they are growing their angel wings too. This motel, built in 1954 by Joe's father, is a step back in time. The family cabins on Rangeley Lake make this a very special place to stay. Rustic and simple, these cabins offer the basics in a setting so lovely you won't want to leave. John is the on site construction go-to guy, and he is methodically renovating one room, one cabin at a time to upgrade the motel with modern kitchens, bathrooms, and furnishings, along with A/C for next summer. But if you like the old fashioned cabin feel, hopefully they will leave one to rent that will always be a tribute to his father, who had this vision 70 years ago to provide a priceless setting on Rangeley Lake for everyone to enjoy. We give everyone 5 stars for effort and kindness too! Thank you to all for making cur stay in Rangeley so memorable. We will be back next year! Debbie and Gene, Philadelphia

If you are looking for pristine, sparkling new and updated not the place for you but if you want a beautiful clean and a bit retro with an attached bar/restaurant and hotel next to a golf course away from people this place is awesome. Built in pool with no one else in it . I hope to go back in the Fall or Spring and will definitely stay here again. Sunrise was amazing and free breakfast was delicious and well served. Will try the dinner menu next visit. Great plan for a weeding / reunion or gathering

We asked if they could take us which they obviously could since there were many empty tables! We had just gone through Oquossic restaurants and all had an average of 45-90 minutes to wait! We were heading back to Rangeley when my father mentioned the Inn. The atmosphere is old fashioned rustic and the dining room is classy with linen table clothes and napkins and oil lamps on the tables for lighting. The building has a musty odor going downstairs for the bathrooms and Inn rooms. Dark paneling lines the hallways and the ladies room has a "powdering" area which you don't see very often. A great country club atmosphere over all. Only down part was on that at the end of an 80 degree day they had no AC! I do have to say though that although I wasn't refreshed by cold air, the fans and opened doorway did help. We all felt relaxed and happy we came here opposed to the hectic and very busy other places we had been. We ordered our drinks and looked over the menu. There were a few appetizers, several entree's, and only one dessert listed on the evenings specials list. We ordered the special Lobster Rosetto, Veal piccata, and the Alaskan Sockeye Salmon. The lobster was wonderful, creamy texture and plenty of lobster. The veal was very good, clean plates. The Salmon was dry and not very hot. Black beans that accompanied were ok but didn't like with the Salmon. We enjoyed the rum bread pudding dessert special at the end of our meal. Sue was our waitress and thought she was fast, friendly, and professional in helping us with our meal.

Motel was booked solid so I went with a campsite this time around and I am so glad I did. Check-in was again a breeze and the staff are just so nice. Having inquired as to my activities in the area, they remembered the details and brought in up in conversation whenever we ran into each other. A nice personal touch. I stayed at campsite #9 "Double Decker" and it was the perfect size for my medium sized tent and large SUV. It came with a fire pit and picnic table. When you first round the bend, the campsites seem squeezed in there but the site itself felt pretty private once I settled in and I was not bothered by the full campground surrounding me. Quiet hours by 10pm made getting rest for my weekend activities easy peasy. As a solo camper, I felt very safe here. The nearby lounge area had a television, kitchen w. oven, range, refrigerator, and freezer, television, electrical outlets, games and more. Toilets and coin-operated showers were on the backside of this building. I don't mind pay showers but wished I got a little bit more time for my first four quarters as I was scrambling to put more in as I rushed through each visit. Bring plenty with you if you like to take your time. Firewood available for purchase (delivered to your campsite!) along with some other staples. Would absolutely stay here again. And again. And again.
