Bought a house last year. When I did so, I told myself I would be able to keep up with the little bit of landscaping we had in both the front and backyards. And I did! For a little while, at least. Trimmed my trees, mowed the grass, kept the weeds from encroaching, even sawed off a couple of the bad branches. This lasted for about six months before it was too much to keep up with and after six more months of my yard turning into much less fun version of the Jungle Cruise, I came to Yelp to find a solution. Mountain Lawn Care turned out to be a pretty good solution. They didn't charge much for the initial cleaning and monthly visits have been very reasonable. When going through options and talking to other competitors that gave quotes at sometimes twice the cost, I realized that there are some jobs where 'pretty good' is more than sufficient. My yard is clean, the trees that needed branches cut off have been pruned back, and the front no longer scares the neighbors with the growls of hidden predators among the weeds! And all this beauty and cleanliness from someone who came in as one of the lower bidders among six other requests. That's both great and economical. I'm not looking for the best meal of my life, I'm not looking to get a haircut I can go outside with, I'm not looking for someone to make a topiary in front of my house. What I'm looking for I got, for a price I can accept. About the only issue I have is that Mountain Lawn Care doesn't seem to have a set schedule when doing monthly follow-ups. I seem to be messaging every four weeks setting up new appointments. But that's just more of an inconvenience I can live with. Other than that, these guys are great! read more

Eddie's crew are honest and hardworking, and truly take pride in their work. They had already done the work on my cousin's house so I knew they did quality work. Eddie helped modify what a landscape architect dreamed up to something a little more practical and less costly. I now have 7 fruit trees, a decomposed granite pad, drainage, irrigation, and backer board delineating the different areas. I have California native plants to make everything water (outside of the fruit trees), bee, butterfly, and bird friendly. My house used to have one pepper tree that fell over. Now thanks to Eddie, I have a welcoming front yard that I love to sit in. And watch the world go by with my dogs. read more

I sent many requests through Yelp for quotes (after a year of frustration with a gardener that doesn't have reviews - I won't make that mistake again)... Three people came out. Eddie was the only one who spent 45 minutes (rather than 5) going through the garden in detail, checking the plants and my irrigation system... He even adjusted the timer for me (without being asked). He didn't just tell me what needs to be done... He educated me about the plants and irrigation, which I highly value. He also asked questions about plants he didn't recognize, rather than trying to pretend he knows everything about gardening (while 2 other gardeners had no confidence in what they were telling me). He's already messaged me that he wants to call to ask more questions - he clearly cares about doing the job right. He earned my trust by taking his time, being sincere and by asking me to show him all the plants, to be certain they don't get pulled accidentally. I also asked him to do a few things that go beyond the usual garden maintenance, and he's going to do them at no extra charge. I did receive a quote that was less than Eddie's, but I would never let someone touch my garden that I didn't have confidence in. The job is his, and the price he's asking is still a great deal. Originally gave them a poor review because I never heard from them. Turns out there were some issues with reception. Anyways, changing this review to 5 stars. My yard was a complete disaster and they came in and cleared everything out. They even took care of taking everything to the dump. With short notice Eddie came over helped consult me on an irrigation problem and installed a new irrigation timer the very next day. Soon after my yard was cleaned up, palms were trimmed, and I had new sprinkler heads installed all while I was away on a business trip. Eddie does reliable work at a great price and clearly communicated the problems I had and the steps to solve them. This is the second time I've used this business. Communicating with Eddie (El Jefe) is easy even with his busy schedule. He had Effrain fix about 10-12 sprinklers, he worked fast and did a good job. They were quick, and reasonably priced. Our new home had layers of sand, rock, and weed liner where the previous owner had poor quality turf, and we wanted grass. Within 2 weeks of calling them, they had come out, given an estimate AND completed the job of digging out/ removing the rock/ sand, installing sprinklers, a timer for the sprinklers, laying soil, and the sod!! He quoted me at a certain price, then didn't show up. When I text him asking if he had shown up, he said he didn't come as planned but he could try to get me in the next day and then quoted me a higher price.
