I live in Houston and use Yelp to find local stores and restaurants when I travel. Artworks is next door to a French restaurant that was really good. They are worth a stop off the highway if you are passing through and provide Bridgeport with a classy boutique.

The artist, one of them at least, was here when we visited. He was a nice guy and made me feel even better about buying stuff I already wanted. The stand out things though are the buttons. If you go, you'll definitely see the buttons. I've purchased some every time I've been to Thomas, for me and for others. Some are simply cute, but others are quite clever or something a literary person would adore. Think plays on famous book titles ("Still Life with Life"), misattributed philosophical quotes ("The unexamined life is not worth living" - Plato), and general statement buttons (I *heart* polar bears). Definitely recommend going here, especially if you're in town for a show at The Purple Fiddle.
