When someone is in an emergent state and worried, you want to be surrounded with compassionate and caring people, and I experienced the complete opposite. My husband needed to come here and although he was the patient, as his wife, I figured I'd get some sort of greeting or direction as to where I should/could wait. Not one person spoke to me throughout the entire visit. I had to be the one to say "have a good night" when leaving to each person. I understand hospitals have strict restrictions on visitors still but there's a way to let someone know that. They called my husband to the back to get his vitals done and I wasn't sure if I could go with him or not, so I followed behind him and asked "can I come or should I stay" and the RN rudely said "have a seat" and slammed the door in my face. The nurse eventually came to get me and just said "come" and brought me to the "room" my husband was in. It wasn't even a room, it was a chair in a hallway. The doctor was nice but he didn't introduce himself at all, he just approached and I was confused and had to look at his name tag to figure out why he was approaching and speaking to us. Long story short, avoid this place.

The doctors themselves were solid. The OB/GYN who cared for my wife stood out. Professional, attentive, and genuinely caring. Dr. Kevin Molyneux also made a strong impression. He was focused, clear, and took good care of my wife. Where things fell short was with the overall staff experience. Bedside manner across much of the team was lacking. Interactions felt dismissive at times, especially in the emergency department. Basic coordination also needs work. Housekeeping was requested multiple times and never showed up. Communication between shifts was inconsistent. There were gaps in handoffs and documentation, which made it harder to understand what had already been done and what came next. The facility itself feels dated and doesn't reflect the standard I associate with NYP. I'm giving 3 stars because the doctors delivered where it mattered most. But based on this experience, we would choose a Manhattan NYP location next time.

In point of fact, I saw his assistant that Doctor spent three minutes with me and then charged my insurance full price. Something about male doctors seems to want to make them treat women less than human, just like the patriarchy we live in. We don't care how many stars they bought for themselves, but this was one of the worst experiences I've had at the doctor ever and that's saying something. Johnny here my wife is not a liar. She's telling you the truth. We suppose it depends on the doctor but one visit to this place was enough! Incredibly rude, unprofessional and the way they spoke to my wife I felt like punching them, but I don't punch people. I'm a big guy and I could hurt somebody. We don't believe in violence as a solution to anything, but sometimes yes, we get angry.

I realized they delete negative Google reviews so I will post my experience here. I came here…read morebecause my normal hospital is in the city and I am going through some post-op complications. This hospital has a high rating so I took a chance. What a waste of my time. If I had known the incompetence of some of the staff here, I would have rather let myself bleed out than come here. First time I have said this, but I actually like the doctors more than the nurses and other supporting staff. Triage was a nightmare. I only said a total of two sentences, which wasn't enough to explain the reason I was there, because she cut me off so she could type it down. I have never met someone who typed like a kindergartener. It took nearly 20 minutes for her to type a literal 3 sentences. The ER nurses, physicians, and surgical team were lovely. I was medicated, sent to a CT, and admitted in under 5 hours. However, the regular hospital team on the inpatient floor? Wow. No words to describe my horror and disappointment. Again, the surgical team was lovely and transparent. The nurses all need to be fired or restrained. God forbid a nurse at this hospital does their job. My IV line kept causing the machine to beep and I had to keep silencing it because the nurses were too busy doing absolutely nothing to come turn it off. Also, I complained TWICE about the lady I was sharing a room with. She would not shut up, talking in her sleep, groaning, moaning, and making all sorts of inappropriate noises all night. Both times I complained? The nurse peeked around the curtain to ask if the woman was okay, ignored me, and walked out. No reprimand, no attempt to explain to this lady that she waa being disruptive. I did not get an hour of sleep the entire evening. I had an Asian woman come in to do my blood just now and I had to tell her off. Why? Because she was attempting to draw blood without actually looking for a vein. She was going based off what she could see. She poked around in my opposite arm before giving up and going into my hand. No warning, no communication, no prodding with her finger to find the best vein. She just went into whatever she saw. It was painful because she kept moving it in and out since the blood wasn't flowing well (hm, wonder why) and I moved because it was painful. She had the audacity to tell me she wasn't done and I told her to please get me a nurse who knew what they were doing because clearly she didn't and was being reckless. Aside from the crappy staff, the building is a health hazard. The floor of the CT was disgusting, clearly hasn't been swept or mopped in God knows how long. The entire hospital is disgusting. The bathroom in my inpatient room was dirty, not cleaned or wiped down. The surgeons and doctors are who saved it for me. But considering nurses and other supporting staff are the main faces, please get rid of all of them. Terrible workers. Thus why people would rather travel to Manhattan for their medical care.

Most hospitals have peanut butter and je sandwiches prepared in case the patient didn't like dinner or if they were still hungry after dinner but not this hospital. *This review is for the cafeteria only.*…read more This is a large hospital and the area is sometimes referred to as Montefiore Country, since there are quite a lot of offices connected to this hospital for several blocks. Opinions vary on the actual hospital and while I'm sure some aspects are quite good, others are probably not. For example, if my intestines were hanging out, I'd probably attempt to put them back in myself rather than go inside this ER. In fact, you're probably healthier OUTSIDE Monte ER's than inside. If you want to spend an average of 12 or more hours, want to be uncomfortable, and risk sickness, then the ER is for you. But I digress. I sometimes work in the area and decided to change up my lunch options and try the cafeteria - knowing that it IS a hospital cafeteria in the first place. Depending on the time you go, you may or may not find seating - but there is plenty of it during a less crowded time. They do clean, but it's not as frequent as they should. It's very spacious, so you don't have to sit next to anyone if you prefer not to. There is also a charging station for your devices inside here. The food itself ranges, but most is decent - the problem is the selection. Montefiore is a Jewish hospital, so the food is always prepared Kosher. Plus Montefiore is on their "health" kick, so you won't get the best beverage selection inside (unless you find the gift shop) and only what they deem as healthy (water, oj, diet/sugar free soda, etc). They go hard sometimes on their vegan specialties, so even if you're not a vegan have fun. Depending on when you go, they have pre-made sandwiches available. Again, Montefiore prepares the way they deem it and not how a lot of others would normally like it, so be prepared. They do have a deli inside, but I haven't tried it yet to see the difference. The hot food menu is different daily and sometimes the options are decent. They also have a salad bar, but it lacks during less busy times. The staff is usually ok. They have more than enough condiments to satisfy most. It's a little pricier than they have any right to be, but due to the limitations of food choices in the area, it's sometimes a safe bet and worth spending the extra few cents to eat a little healthier (when I want to Monte, not when YOU want to) at times. Also some of the businesses in the area don't have adequate seating for lunch options, so this is where the added value (to me) is. Parking is horrendous. The area is busy and the main streets are metered. There is plenty of signage for alternate side and just general no parking, so unless you're on foot or use mass transit and are going to be in the area anyway, I'd never come here just for this place. Again, I sometimes work in the area, so it's ok for me. Monte's parking garages are often full and overcharge (even for employees). So say what you will about the actual hospital and it's surrounding facilities, but as far as their cafeteria goes, it isn't a bad choice in the area at times.
