I've been in their outpatient detox clinic. They really do care & are very attentive and hear you if you're serious about detox , they'll truly help. I also had went to their emergency room everything went so quickly I was bought in right away ( but at time had heart problem & I catch seizures so they had to bring me in right away and do a EKG ) but even after the doctors had me out of there after a panic attack or 2 in like 1 hour maybe few more minutes over. This is the hospital that I'm on the fence about. Some doctors are helpful and will go out of their way for their patients but others want to get rid of them because they need a bed. Unfortunately, when you try to get help and talk to a social worker to moved your family member, Elaine Richards, the social worker for the second floor is no help. She comes to you with an attitude and when you call her boss, she does nothing. If you want to move your loved one to a rehab after their hospital stay, make sure you go through the proper channels and if Elaine Richard's boss doesn't help, go to the higher ups. I went to the er for a nerve pain that I was feeling in my left leg it took a hour before they finally helped me and the pain was excruciating finally got inside they left me for another 20 minutes before attending to me got so frustrated so I broke my watch and chain and was crying historically for help finally they came and gave me meds that only put me to sleep no X-ray was taken no referral to see a orthopedic finally wen I woke up they had a BHA force me to go to psych for evaluation and I didn't go there for psych!!!!!!!!!! but because they knew I had a psych history they figured why not send her there instead I refused but still they insisted, was in psych for a whole day requesting to leave because I didn't wanna miss work and wanted to right a 72 hour letter the nurse brought a crayon!!!! And a paper to write a letter to a judge!!!! I said I would never write a letter to a judge with a crayon can I get a pen or pencil they refused to give me one they said wait to see my social worker who took a whole day to come and speak to me, i refused to do blood work when they saw I wasn't budging and kept my composure they finally decided to release me when I got my stuff my 300 dollar earpods was stolen!!!!!!! out my bag!!!!!!as well as my 500 dollar pendent!!!!!!! for my necklace worse experience ever and have yet to be compensated for it so heart broken finally decided that I would never ever in my life go to that hospital under any circumstances I would rather die!!!!! I was admitted with a fractured skull and lower back on 10/31/22. The doctors in the ER were wonderful. However, once I got upstairs, things changed drastically. The nurses/aids were downright rude and dismissive. I couldn't get out of bed and had to rely on diapers. I was told that I had used my quota a diapers for the day and therefore, one of my visitors had to "steal" some from the supply. The room was filthy...gnats all over the bathroom and when food was delivered, the gnats were all over the food. The technician who administered my MRI was rude...horrible. When I was released to Burke Rehabilitation (the best) I thought I died and went to Heaven. My going away gift was a UTI from the lack of care I received at Jacobi. I had to get sutures to forehead after passing out due to allergic reaction from prescribed antibiotic with raised welts all over my body. the crew who I was initially seen by were , cat scans and tests run efficiently. The resident taking care of me was excellent. She stitched my head when I was moved to the ED ward. they told me since Covid they had no pillows or blankets. At approximately 1:00 AM the entire nursing staff disappeared. there are no call bells and other patients cried out for help. No one answered. At 6:30 AM all of the staff were sitting in the nursing station, dressed and ready to leave when the 7 A to 7 P arrive. A young lady who sat in front of my room on her computer, refused to acknowledge the pleas of her patients and told us she wasn't our nurse and be quiet. I never loose it. I've worked in healthcare for 25 years. I exploded and told this nasty piece of work what I thought of her and her coworkers. I have to wonder, are there cameras? Is anybody supervising any of the staff? The nasty piece of sh-t greeted everyone warmly including letting one know that she does eye lash extensions from home and she would give a a"good price". I would never let an ambulance take me there again. I hope the resident who was wonderful goes somewhere else. She's too good for this place. read more

My mom stood here for 3 days. There are some nurse staff that are loving caring and have patience. On the other hand I've experienced some that are rude. When I received a call that my mom was discharged I went to the nurses station on building 6 of the 5th floor and spoke to a Mrs Clarke and explained I was there to pick up my mom and she looked at me and turned away and started writing. Didn't acknowledge me and was very rude I didn't know what was my next step. I work in the health dep in nursing homes and this is not the attitude to have when you work with people. read more

This hospital is terrible, my 96 year old mother fell and ended up at this hospital where they also found she had an infection the doctors were pushing so much on me that I had to get her primary care physician involved which he told them the try antibiotic first and if that doesnt work then they can discussed other options. she stayed in 5A area and they were horrible on that floor lied about feeding her, when i cleaned her she was full of dirt like no one was cleaning her and they were not feeding her. i had an unplanned cesarean birth which led to a horrible post hemorrhage experience. i would not recommend moms to be to give birth at this facility. in the midst of this life-altering experience, the midwives were the most memorable and attentive people with true intentions of looking out for my best interests. i was in labor for about 48 hours. in addition, the staff right after my emergency operation, were absolutely rude and inconsiderate of my care. the staff nurse did not need to talk about her own experience with c-sections, inserting herself into my atmosphere of exhaustion and emotional vulnerability. i wanted to punch the shit of this lady. please jacobi: if you want better ratings, train your staff to treat people with dignity and respect, not just numbers and people to be dissected for your profits, motherfuckers! i can't wait to sue you for all the emotional distress afterward, nightmares and all. in addition, y'all cut my child on his eyebrow when taking him out. un fucking believable! the nerve to say you care. train your staff jacobi. train your staff. i'm so tired of mothers being treated like another lab rat in this capitalistic system when we are the most vulnerable in our most heightened emotional event ever. ps: the midwives were excellent. i love them. thank you for this. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!!! Nurses and Doctors are very dismissive and rude when you are trying to get an update. The doctors and nurses are refusing to tell me the truth about his health condition. I just found out last night he has a blood clot in his right leg. He was originally brought over to Jacobi on April 11, 2020 for a gun shot wound. Someone tried to break into my dads home and shot my dad. Yonkers cops and detectives are involved for his case. Literally every other day there is something wrong with his health, the first surgery on April 11th, the doctors left a hole in his colon. The hole caused him to leak his own poop inside his abdomen. On April 25, the doctors found out he had CRE (a bad infection that can lead to sepsis and death if not treated properly). On April 26, he had an emergency surgery to remove all of the infection and abscess inside his abdomen and got a colostomy bag. His hemoglobin is 8.1, that is very bad and the doctors and nurses will not tell me why it's still low and just say "it's ok, when it's 7, then we can do a blood transfusion." My father already received 3 blood transfusion, two surgeries, and a procedure to where they needed to drain the infection out of his stomach. My father wants to transfer out of the hospital so bad and told me he wants to leave and does not want to die in that hospital. He wants to transfer to the VA hospital. He also said the nurses there are so lazy and never want to help him. My dad is coherent and is aware that the doctors and nurse are neglecting his care, because he is a nurse too. Patient Relations is aware of my concerns but they can only do so much. My father served the army for 24 years and did a tour in Afghanistan. My father is currently a nurse in the VA hospital in Kingsbridge, Bronx. My father is a good man, and does not deserve to be medically neglected in the hospital. read more

I'm saddened to write this review, but I just had to. In December of 2017 I was very ill, so under duress I had to go to ER. I couldn't walk for a minute or stand for a minute without being in excruciating pain. Even laying down it was painful. Taking the xrays on the table was very painful. I had to have xrays and I asked the nurse if I could be wheeled to xray. She looked at me with her white wig and asked me how did I get in. I waa stunned. I walked a one minute walk with great difficuty and a lot of pain. It took me ten minutes. I'm not a hypochondriac and I never leave reviews anywhere. Another time while I was having the same pain I was trying to get a nurse's attention. She rolled her eyes at me and looked the other way. I just wanted to ask her a simple question. I cannot understand why these people are so horrible and mean. I don't ever want to go to any ER. They treated me as if I wasn't in pain. I've had two cesarean sections and I've never been in so much pain that prompted me to go to ER. These uncaring diabolical people are not going to take away my spirit. I went to the emergency room having an asthma attack the nurse who checked me in was great she took me in right away. She put me in a room in the ER and 1 hour passed with no attention at all. I'm sitting in the room wheezing , coughing , gasping to breath. I finally get up to ask one of the male doctors (I'm pissed I didn't get his name but he was the only male in at the time with a bald head) how much longer until I get a treatment and he completely dismissed me telling me other people are in there with serious issues. Mind you I was brought to the emergency room for having an asthma attack. Please avoid at all cost. I walked out the hospital wheezing just as bad. I don't know how this place gets more than one star. Those people that voted it higher must have been lucky. This place makes you 6 hours before you can talk to somebody and 6 more hours to get treated. Thats if you go and search for a doctor. 12 hours. We waited 12 hours. This is not a hospital, its purgatory. Only come here if you don't mind waiting in pain. You'll get a better experience watching an episode of Scrubs or General Hospital. And less time wasted. Once we finally got doctors, they treated us, so thats the one good thing. Don't even wanna be writing about this place, but this experience was madness... Edit: Still here. Waiting. EVERY time I come here, there's more than an hour wait or they're understaffed. I come to get a shot, and on a good day, which is very rare, I'm in and out in 15 minutes top. One time I was here for 2 hours. Then another time, they scheduled my appointment early in the morning, like 9:20, but they had a meeting. This has occurred more than 3 times. I'm just over this hospital! Like seriously. I sat in 3B, on the third floor, building 8, for AN HOUR before they asked me to go to 3A! This hospital is huge. They have specialty in all major areas. They have renovated many departments in the hospital to make access and care better. A quick tip is if you need to be seen in the urgent care dept. get their early since they are generally open from 8-9 M-F and 11-7 on weekends. Also the trauma center is top notch. read more

In 2001 I was in the burn unit at Jacobi Hospital. Recently I was in the ER at Columbia-Presbyterian and was treated so badly. C-P has a good reputation but is actually a very bad hospital. They are so rude and nasty. They give bad care. They made me feel worse. They made me feel bad about myself. That experience made me think of how much the experience at Jacobi was the opposite. They saved my life at the burn unit at Jacobi. I will always be grateful to the doctors and nurses there. I am not saying that everyone was pleasant or the best doctors I have ever met. I am saying they are dedicated professionals who do a good job curing/fixing the patient. Thanks Jacobi professionals. read more

I first want to shout the surgery team who did excellent service on cutting my belly with precise measures thank u. Second group I want to shout out is nursing staff in the Step Down unit after u come from surgery they r carring ,kind patient.
