I was so glad that Google Maps have incorrectly placed this marker on the map (which has since been rectified after I notified them), putting it a lot further north than it actually was. I had just reached the bottom of Mount Macedon and wanted to have a beer at the two pubs here, but was worried that I was going to miss the train. Fortunately, when I turned onto Mount Macedon road, there it was, in the direction of the railway station. This was certainly a really nice pub, and has been done up a lot since the Google car went past. There is an awesome deck out the front, and a garden out the back for engagement parties (there was one on at the time). Mind you, when I went inside to order a beer the bar was crowded with the regulars, all sitting there drinking their beers, and the bartender new exactly what they wanted. However, it is a great little pub in one of those towns that Melburinans (like me) visit for weekend daytrips. read more

No Fanta for kids. Can order food at the bar but it will not be delivered to the beer garden and NO there is no way to tell when the food is ready and waiting at the bar. I don't understand why you would renovate out the back if people are not encouraged to use it. read more

Like a sullen teenager this venue has so much potential. The only decent eatery actually on Mt Macedon, with spectacular views and an open and honest area for the gentle mountain folk to enjoy. A sufficient selection of beers on tap, wine by the glass and a cider on tap too! The bar menu hosts a variety of regular bar dishes ranging around the $18-28 for mains. Typical country pub charging Melbourne prices. Meal sizes are typical of the fashion these days, rather large and mildly intrusive. The recent (ish) renovations are delightful. High bar tables, a giant banquet style table to boot! The highlight of the bar area is the bright silver ceiling reflecting the open fire. Once the venue matures and accepts the transient nature of its guests and how to meet the needs of the guest and not the staff it will be a delightful venue to visit on a Sunday afternoon. read more

We ordered at the bar and went to sit on the deck. We were then told we could not sit on the deck as it was reserved for patrons of the restaurant not the bar. We were to sit in the beer garden on terrible picnic tables in the sun when we wanted a nice spot in the shade. Apparently $125'worth of food and drinks does not allow you to sit on a deck that is mostly empty. It was after the lunch rush and in the time we were there not a single other person came to sit there. Maybe they should publish a booklet on their policies so we can read it before choosing to eat there. Rude staff, OK food and inflexible policies makes this a never again for me. read more

Very unfortunate! Location and the refurbishment are great. Thats about where it should be left. The food was below average- uncooked, cold and had to wait for 1 hour. The service was despicable too- the waiting staff do not seem interested and were very aloof. Overall a bad experience and certainly would not recommend driving all the way from Melbourne for this!! read more
