The Daylesford Hotel describes itself as a 'majestic icon'. Truer words have never been spoken. This place is everything you would imagine a country pub could and should be like.
We popped in on a rainy Friday evening and while it wasn't as lively as you might expect, it was just as cosy as we were hoping. There are some lovely beers on tap (as well as the classics) and the menu is delightful albeit predictable. I went with the fish and chips while my partner went for the bangers and mash. Pub comfort food.
This is a HUGE pub, so if you are after a quieter, more intimate dinner you will easily be able to find a chilled out table or corner.
There is also accommodation available upstairs. This pub is about a million years old and just LOOKS like it's haunted, so I probably wouldn't be willing to stay overnight. However if you did, you're right in the centre of town - walking distance to practically everything. read more
