As someone who loves history, Mount Hebron Cemetery was one of the highlights of our visit to Winchester. The grounds are beautifully maintained, peaceful, and filled with centuries of local and Civil War history. Walking among headstones dating back to the 1700s and seeing the historic Stonewall Confederate Cemetery really puts into perspective how much history this city has witnessed. The mature trees, historic gatehouse, and quiet atmosphere make it a place where you can spend hours reading names, dates, and stories carved into stone.
Whether you're researching family history, interested in Civil War history, or simply appreciate historic cemeteries, this is absolutely worth a stop. It's a place of remembrance, reflection, and preservation that left a lasting impression on us. Five stars from this history-loving traveler. read more
