I'm very disappointed with how my situation was handled today. I brought my cat to Mount Dora Veterinary Hospital due to a possible blocked cat emergency. I understand that they are not a 24-hour hospital and that they close at 5 PM, that part is not the issue. When I arrived, there were about 20 minutes left before closing. The front desk staff told me they would check with a doctor to see if someone could at least take a quick look at my cat to determine if he was stable enough for me to drive to an emergency hospital. I was not asking for full treatment, just a brief assessment for peace of mind. I had been at this hospital just two days prior and had spent a significant amount of money on diagnostics, so I expected at least some effort or minimal evaluation. Instead, I was told that no doctor would see him because they were closing soon and "if he was blocked, there wouldn't be much they could do anyway." Given the circumstances, this response was extremely disappointing. A doctor simply coming out for a brief look, even just to say whether my cat appeared stable, would have made a huge difference. Twenty minutes is more than enough time for a basic visual exam or quick assessment, especially in an emergency situation. I was already extremely traumatized and distressed, and the lack of empathy, effort, and basic customer service left a very bad taste in my mouth. I wasn't expecting miracles, just compassion, professionalism, and a minimal attempt to help. Unfortunately, this experience made me feel like there was no appreciation for a returning client or concern for a pet in crisis. read more

Mount Dora vet was amazing, when my little guy hurt his paw. I was able to get an appointment within an hour, and they had pulled his vet records from our vet up north. All the staff were great, and very kind. Dr. Beau explained everything, and was very nice to speak with. The office is clean and comfortable and the pricing is very fair. I brought my 19 year old cat Blue in because she stopped eating, but was still drinking water. $500 for vet visit & blood work. The vet recommended putting her down. I thought I would try the meds first, but when I got back home, I knew she wasn't doing well. I returned to the vet that evening to put her down. I was told that I could be with her by the staff up front when they put the IV in. We were guided to a room in the back where I was met by a girl who said no that wasn't the procedure. She took Blue to put the IV in another room. When she brought her back she was growling and clearly very distressed. I held her as close as possible to calm her down. They proceeded to give her the injections but not before charging almost $800. I left feeling so broken that she wasn't feeling good to start, but her last moments were growling. I felt like someone didn't do there job very well. I left. Almost 2 weeks later I returned and was handed a small bag with a small brown box with what looked like a small amount of dark sand. There was a vile of long dark black brown hair that was clearly not hers as she was light gray with white on her belly and paws. You could buy a box and have it engraved for $20 off Amazon. Then I was told by the staff there was a paw print but that I had to bake it. Lastly, I received a small flimsy brown, coaster like piece of wood with a paw print. I personally am disgusted with this vet and honestly don't know how they sleep at night. This was the worst experience and they made my baby girl suffer even more right down to her last breath. read more

They only want your money, they will manipulate you into doing whatever they want knowing if you care about your pet you will pay and do whatever they say. my dog was treated poorly, put through 19 hours of trauma FOR NO REASON, i can say that cause i followed up with a real vet who informed me the life or death health problems they led me to believe my dog had at this place, wasn't actually the case and my dog is fine. They provide good care but very over priced! My dog had a $2000 procedure,vet says to come back in 2 weeks and we do. They charged an additional $55 for that visit! Apparently $2000 doesn't include a simple post op check! When I complained, I got a very defensive call back from the vet nurse. Still had to pay it - looking for another vet. read more

My cat had ex-rays & bloodwork done at this vet's office & he still doesn't know what's wrong with her. To make matters worse, he prescribed my cat the WRONG! medications without making a diagnosis. I had to call my credit card company to get a refund on her medications because the office would not issue a credit back to my credit card. Be AWARE of this vet's office. They don't have the knowledge or the skills to properly diagnose your pet and they are a RIP OFF! with their high prices. BOTTOM LINE! They DO NOT care about your pets. read more

my english mastiff Sir Walter of Mt. Dora was having unihary issues. he had 2 uti's and was having trouble peeing. After about $1000 of testing he needed $4100 dollars of bladder surgey to remove stones. One week after his surgery he started having heavy bleeding from the surgical site. This was on a friday night. My wife and I stopped the bleeding with direct pressure and stayed up most of the night to make sure the bleeding didn't start up agian. The next morning after Mt. Dora vet. clinic opened I called to get him seen immediately. They told me they were to busy try on Monday or find another vet. to see him. They did the surgery and couldn't take 10 minutes to check their work. I got hot and promised if they didn't see him I would give them this review on yelp. This is not a place anybody needs to take their animal. read more

I have been using Mt. Dora Veterinary Hospital and Dr Beau Delaport for close to twenty years. I live 40 minutes away in Yalaha but would not even consider finding a closer vet. In April of this year I took my poodle Tiara, who suffered from diabetes and congestive heart, in and dropped her off to have blood glucose monitoring done. About 12:00 noon I received a call from Dr. Beau indicating that Tiara was having issues and that he had her on oxygen. 30 minutes later I received a call saying that she had passed from heart failure. I immediately went to pick her up. I could tell from the reaction of the entire staff that they were very upset. One of the staff told me that when Tiara passed she had many loving hands on her and that she didn't die alone. If you choose to use a Mt. Dora Veterinary Hospital this is the kind of love and care your pets will receive. read more

As always, the front desk is so welcoming, the staff is friendly, caring, and helpful, the techs are THE best around, and the docs are thorough, compassionate, and knowledgeable. Best vet clinic in Lake County. Dr. Beau has been taking care of my dogs for 20 years and has pulled my 15 year old girl through cancer and heart disease. I don't think l would have her this long if he was not her vet. He is absolutely the best vet and the new vet Dr. Rick is wonderful too. The rest of the staff is great. read more

While they may not be the worst vet hospital around, I would not recommend them. We are new to the area and I saw the good reviews on Yelp so we booked an appointment for our cat who was not eating, only drinking water. After spending almost $300 on blood tests etc, the doctor called and said everything looked great. Even though our cat was 18 years old, he said his kidneys, urine, and general heath looked excellent. "He probably just got into something" he said, and should be back to eating soon with the help of the medication he prescribed. Several days later we took him back because he still wasn't eating on his own. The same doctor, who said he owned the business, looked at his gums and said they were yellow and this meant liver failure. "A yellow cat is a dead cat" he said matter-of-factly and suggested we put him down. I was very emotional and not ready to make such a decision so soon. The doctor insisted we spend money on an anti-nausea shot (which we did, even though it seemed liked a money grab on his part) and afterwards we took him home, where he lived peacefully and purred every day until he passed about a week later. I know our cat was old and his time had come, but our experience with this office was not good. The information we received was confusing and delivered in a cold manner. I think he became a vet because of his love of money, not his love of animals. read more

What started off as a promising visit turned into a nightmare. These people tried to charge me an extra $49 for a booster flu shot for my dog due 2-3 weeks later. I asked these people point blank during my 1st visit if there were any EXTRA fees due when I return in a few weeks for the booster shot and they said no. Because I'm the cautious type, I asked a few more times and was told No, Sir, absolutely not. They changed their tune today. I refused to pay that fee and if they insist on making me into a liar, these people should sue me! Suffice it to say, my relationship with this place is OVER. Such dishonest people. Initially plucked off the web in an emergency because they are 5 minutes from my house, I can't even believe my good fortune. Drs. Delaporte, Martinez and Patel as well as the rest of the staff have treated me and my pet as if we were one of their own. Their compassion, competence and willingness to listen has resulted in an excellent client experience. I am grateful for the vagaries of fate that has put these wonderful people in my life. We called for assistance and they made their best to accommodate us for an appointment the same day. The place is well located, clean and organized. The staff was very courteous and friendly. We didn't wait more than 8 minutes after we checked in and we were provided with all the documentation. I felt that their pricing for services were also very reasonable. They received our beloved pet of 11 years for the first time, gave us professional input of his state, the options we had, and the course of action they recommended. They guided us through the process and provided us with so much compassion and level of care that I will be forever thankful for all they did for my dog. My family and I are truly grateful. Dr. Beau & staff are true pet lovers & excellent care is always given to our dachshunds. We have used him for years for boarding when we travel, routine care, grooming, and whenever one of our dogs have a problem. He is thorough, compassionate, gentle and extremely knowledgeable. There is no doubt that the doc is good and personable. It was pricey. I think it would be nice to be fully informed of my charges to know what I'm agreeing to before its too late. I think the parking lot needs a better way to get the animals into office without having to walk on hot pavement. The whole experience was a little awkward. I was told they only give prices to current customers and I would need to make an appointment to get their price. --So what's wrong with that picture that I would need to pay for a visit just to find out how much they would charge me for my dogs medicine. read more

Dr. Beau is wonderful and never had any issues until he hired a new staff. The ineptness of the office now leaves much to be desired. It's unfortunate that when they mess up instead of acknowledging their mistake they tell you that you misunderstood. When you go to speak to someone about it you get dismissed with your vet records and told to have a good day. I always have a good day and I'm sure they will get better once I deal with a practice that actually runs efficiently and respects the owners of their fur patients. read more

I was traveling from out of town when my elderly Weimaraner's health took a bad turn. Watching a dear pet suffer is awful, being far from your usual sources of assistance makes it so much worse. I found Dr. Beau and MDVH through yelp. The staff was so incredibly helpful and supportive on the phone, I made an appointment for both the lil old lady dog and my puppy. I was not misplaced in my decision - This place is wonderful. First off, you know these folks love pets from the minute you arrive. There is a beautiful waiting area and pet relief area outside. Inside, the lobby exudes pet love; the walls are not just filled with the doc's diplomas (as well as his dad's; this is a family business) but also pet friendly supplies and healthy supportive items. The staff is extremely friendly; just listening to other waiting pet mommas, you know that they treat everyone as family. The exams of the dogs proved to us that not only were these pet lovers with a great family business, but highly skilled providers as well. The care of both dogs was stellar. The care of our family after a really tough decision had been made was superb. These folks treated us as their own family when we had just met and walked in the door. We are in the process of relocating to the area so finding a great vet was already on the to-do list. This one to-do is clearly checked off; we've transferred the care of our pets to MDVH and Dr. Beau. You can't do better than this wonderful, supportive vet. read more
