If you want a unique and wonderful preschool experience for your child (and for you) check out this preschool. The program at Cottonwood is magical. It allows kids to discover and develop with play. They get to do all sorts of fun and even messy stuff. Painting, planting, building, dancing, and anything else they can think of is not only allowed but explored and encouraged. My daughter's social skills blossomed and "magically" through play she was more than ready for kindergarten.

The teachers that my children have had from 2nd to 5th grade have all been such excellent educators to my kids and great communicators with me as the parent. If he was as violent as they say he was they were right to ask him to leave, but we have never seen this behavior anywhere else and were not allowed to observe him in the classroom so we do not know what was actually going on. We did not feel that we could trust the teachers or administration because of inconsistencies in their statements. Many of the teachers' complaints were typical preschool behaviors, especially for a child new to the Montessori setting. This made us question the validity of the more serious complaints. We were given two days notice that he needed to leave aftercare. Two weeks later we were given two days notice that he needed to leave the school. They said that they would release his records for his evaluation with Childfind but when I requested the records they stated that they would not provide them. Compass may be a great school for "typical" kids but it is not a supportive setting for children who have developmental delays or behavioral challenges.

We can not say enough about the Rise School of Denver. Many of the staff come from highly education and diverse backgrounds to promote enrichment, tolerance, and international diversity. Bring your child for a $40 day camp and your child will be hooked and let you know if they wish to return. They provide a day camp on the days that DPS does not hold school.

My daughter was behind coming into the school, and had a hard time staying on track with her classmates. One of the therapist that helps children that are falling behind in reading noticed that my daughter was learning differently than the other students. She suggested a specialized children's ophthalmologist, for an issue that not many would notice. She changed the course of my daughters life. She's now in vision therapy and gets extra help at school. They noticed a learning disability and jumped on it quickly. I couldn't be happier with our experience at DJDS and look forward to watching all three of my daughters strive there.

This is a sweet kid who was scapegoated and mistreated in public school. Their response is to reject him? Bizarre and unfathomable.
