They don't want kids to do their work for a gold star, they want kids to do their work because they are interested in learning. I love how the school goes up through 8th grade so the kids don't have the awkward middle school transition.

The outdoor time was great too. The kids get plenty of time to be outside. Gordon and the gang do a great job. Their parent education nights were extremely informative as well. I was seriously impressed with our son's counting skills, patience and ability to communicate his needs and feelings after spending so much time there.

She started in the summer program and really enjoyed the different activities they had throughout the summer for the kids. For example they took the kids swimming every Wednesday, they would have the reptile house or the butterfly pavilion come in several times with different activities for student learning, And they had many discoveries own learning projects that were hands-on for students. When you look at the facility it is very uniquely designed but it looks really cool and they have a lot of hands on activities even outside like gardens and greenhouses. The Montessori is a community learning program that a lot of people seem to like and appreciate. For family and friends of ours that work here it seems like a great school with great employment opportunities as well as learning opportunities for students. A consultation and a tour would be a great thing if you are interested in something like a Montessori.

When we out our name down they said about a year. When we called for an update 6 months later they said we were still a year away. Then we called again in February and we were told that we would be first in line this spring most likely, but if not, definitely this summer. We just called again and it turns out that they're booked up until 2020! This is no way to communicate with prospective students. This is disrespectful and extremely disconcerting, as now we find ourselves again left out to dry with no explanation given.

I was in frequent contact with the administration and teachers, so I have a very good view of this school, despite not being the official Mom. There are four different classrooms, differentiated by age. My guys were in the "Popcorn" class. Their teacher (Ms. Rachelle) was wonderful. A lovely human being who truly cared about the kids, and it was obvious in her interactions with them. the other assistant teachers in their class were also wonderful, caring, nurturing people. The boys really loved their teachers, and felt comfortable in their classroom. Their day was broken into different sections such as math & science, reading, "sensory table", arts & crafts, etc. They were given opportunities to make plenty of choices throughout the day: Would you like to make a craft today, or play at the sensory table? The woman who runs the place, Mary Jean, is also a great lady who puts her whole heart into the business. I can only imagine it is difficult to interact with so many different kids and adults every day, but she goes at it with all guns blazing. She engages with everyone who walks through the door, and knows the names of all the kids. She is a sweet and loving lady, but don't mistake her for a softie. She has a toughness that I know moms can appreciate- she won't take any guff, and she makes sure to keep the place organized, under control, and well-protected. The school has a cute little playground, and a barn with lots of farm animals. During recess, the kids frequently go on tractor rides or pony rides- a very exciting part of their day. They get to take care of and feed animals. Cool stuff. Also worth noting, they had days scheduled where various community professionals visited: dentists, firemen, etc. I am a nanny, and entrusted with the care of kids. I take my job seriously and really care about my kids, and put a lot of love and energy into them. And I can honestly say that the teachers and staff here remind me of myself. It was apparent to me that they care about these kids just as much as I do. Definitely schedule a time to have a look at this school! Oh, and my one negative: that damned parking lot! Oddly-shaped and crowded, cars and kids everywhere. Ugh.

She has grown so much for being a student here. The teachers are all simply put; amazing and I trust them wholeheartedly. The director of the school is always reachable and always proactive if I have any needs or concerns. I highly recommend the school and I'm grateful that my daughter was accepted here. I wanted to do a follow up; after 2 wonderful years, my daughter now attends kindergarten. At her first parent teacher conference, her teacher let me know that she was very advanced and doing extremely well and that Sunflower Montessori had prepared her well. The new owner is wonderful and the staff are all incredibly friendly. They know our son by name and are always smiling and warm. She was back on track after only 6 month of working with good old public school teachers. We also had issues with afterhours program staff not being the most competent. My advise is don't waste your money on a fancy Montessori school. Its not that much better than any of your local public schools.
