Food: These crêpes were INCREDIBLE! The duck crêpe came with foie gras and some sort of cheese filling and it was soooo good. I also got the pistachio crêpe for dessert which was amazing as well. The sauce tasted homemade, and the ice cream was really good as well. I will be dreaming about these crêpes. Service: Our waiter was so friendly, and funny too haha. He spoke really good English too! Food is also fast. Ambiance: There is a lot of outdoor seating (it was quite cold though), but it gets pretty busy during lunch hour, both French and non-French clientele. We popped in on a Thursday night without a reservation (bad idea!) and were delighted to be seated inside after all. Our waiter spoke very good English so my rudimentary French was not an obstacle. We needed gluten-free options for half our group and their buckwheat savoury galettes fit the requirement (I can't confirm if it's celiac-friendly) The 'burgers' were amazing but keep an open mind when defining burger. The 'bun' is a buckwheat pancake. So good. I had the Normande and it was amazing with smoked salmon, cheese, etc. We had to stay for dessert and there were amazing crepes and crème brûlée. I would give this place 3.5 stars; after living in France for a year and having traveled in Brittany before coming here, this place was pretty good but not the best crepes or food that I've had. This seems like it attracts a lot of tourists and for crepes or the portions that you get, the prices seem a little bit high. I heard a lot of Americans/English and the servers/owners all speak a good amount of English. I would recommend making reservations ahead of time as the inside portion of the restaurant is pretty small. We were able to grab a table outside without a reservation but the outside seating area seemed to fill up quickly shortly after the place opened. My husband and I both got the galette burgers, which consists of the burger patty, cheese, sauces, sandwiched between 2 buckwheat pancakes. You could get three different types of burgers (different toppings, condiments, etc), and they were served with fries and a salad. The serving size of the entire plate was quite large, but the serving size of the burger itself was a little on the small side, especially for something costing 15-16€. It was interesting to try the burger made in this less-traditional way, but it's not something I'd come back here again for as it was a bit skimpy in size. The fries were fresh and good, as was the salad. I think I prefer to get my burgers traditionally made at a place that specializes in burgers next time. For dessert, we split a sweet crepe with a scoop of hazelnut ice cream, a hazelnut sauce and vanilla ice cream. It was fine, but I've had other crepes elsewhere that are better. Overall, this is a fine place if you're looking for a relatively casual meal, have children, or want to come in a larger group. I've had better crepes and burgers elsewhere; we had a fine meal, but it was nothing to write home about and I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come here. read more

Of all the restaurants in Bayeux, this one was most on par with my tastes, needs and wants. Delicately tucked behind a tourist shop, and a short distance down the path, you will find the entrance to this quiet and serenely located bistro. A large outdoor, covered patio overlooking the water is their biggest draw and with the weather as beautiful as it was while visiting, I requested an outdoor table for one. Reservations recommended! Luckily, as I was a solo diner, and American (our typical dinner hour is 1-2 hours earlier than when the French tend to dine) I promised I wouldn't take long and I was seated. I tried their Kir Normand, (champagne and Calvados), which was refreshing and light. For my main, I ordered a galette which is essentially a savory crepe. In it there was prosciutto, Gorgonzola, pear and walnuts. It was everything a cheese lover could ask for! Thin, delicately crispy crepe, filled with melty cheese and the sweetness from the pears had me secretly chair dancing. Altogether, my cocktail and galette came to 17€ more or less. Relatively casual, reasonable prices (by local standards), and a wonderful atmosphere dining on the water near the water wheel under the shade of trees. Its just a short walk from the city center and just outside the tapestry museum. The menu is standard Normandy/French fare crepes (galettes), cider, pomme frites, etc. and hits the mark, but doesn't astound. Service was fine. Moulin de la Galette is a must-try in Bayeux. The restaurant is located right next to the Bayeux Tapestry Museum and is hard to miss. There's both indoor and outdoor seating area and the outdoor seating area is just by the river that flows through the town. Even if the weather is cold & rainy (which is how it was when we went), you can sit outdoors under the covered patio and with the heater on, and you'll be just fine. When we came in during lunch, the waiter invited us to come inside because it was cold & rainy, and since the indoor seating are was completely full, he seated us outside and made sure the heaters were on and we were comfortable. We ordered the Bolognaise galette and Vegetarian galette. Well, we ordered coffee and hot chocolate as well, but they were just okay. Both the galettes were delicious. Crispy and fresh from the kitchen. Personally though both the galettes were really good, we liked the Bolognaise better. With minced meat, a little bit of cheese, this one totally hit the spot. Yum! After a very long morning seeing the American cemetery and Omaha Beach, my mother and I, along with two friends arrived at 2:15. We took our family of 5 after calling same day for 7:00 reservation (only able to get inside table...nice, but would recommend outside by river if temperature/weather are nice.) A thoroughly disappointing evening and meal. The setting is beautiful (under trees next to a small river) and we initially enjoyed the evening. After ordering, we waited 30 minutes with no sign of our meal. We asked one of the wait-staff to inquire as to why the delay. That person went and asked our waitress who looked at us and indicated that she was aware of the delay. After another 15 minutes we asked another wait- staff as to what happened to our meal. Meanwhile, multiple tables had been seated, gotten their meal, paid their bill and left and still we sat. After another 10 minutes a local patron (who spoke French) took pity on us and spoke to the manager and our food arrived about 10 minutes later. We had waited over an hour to get our food which was, predictably, cold and overcooked. When we asked to speak to the manager to complain, he never came by our table! I'll plan on coming back to France many times but call me a FOOL if I ever eat at this place again. I understand that things happen while eating out but it became apparent that we were being treated poorly because we are Americans. The manager should have come and apologized to us but, instead, he chose to ignore us. Our waitress apologized to us but only when she brought us the bill. We went on a random Thursday and only got a table because we got there early. The wait for dessert was a bit long since the place got crowded by that time, but understand that this isn't one of those places that's interested in turning over the tables and getting people out of there quickly.
