The restaurant is not big but appear to be able to accommodate at least two big groups. I was here for a group Fondue dinner. For this dinner, you can reserve a cute chalet-like cottage house in the backyard of the restaurant. What a hidden treasure!! As soon as I walked into the house, I felt so cozy, warm and comfortable as if I was in a small house in the mountain. I'm not sure if the cottage house is available for other event or dinner but it's perfect for Fondue night! For 27 CHF, you get a huge pot of fondue with plenty of bread and pickles. Fondue was very delicious and service was great! I will have to come back for other food someday but I am craving for another fondue already!! I would highly recommend the fondue with a group of friends, family or neighbors. PS: Fondue and bread can be re-filled as much as you want. This is a great deal!!

Pros: clean and large with ample seating and decent food offerings…read more Cons: may be the most expensive park cafe in Zurich, that I have been to. The restaurant offers a varied selection of baked goods, assorted bottled beverages, made to order coffees, and a limited hot menu daily. The food is good quality and the portion sizes are reasonable. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Restrooms in the basement. And a small kids area inside with a wooden rocking horse. Nice to have access to when sitting out on a hot day waiting for your child to tire themselves out at the playground but just a tad too expensive to seriously consider as a restaurant to go to for a meal. All of the beverages are at least 4 chf or higher as are most of the plastic wrapped bakery items.

You can be eating lunch and right next to you is a person in a bathing suite, or better yet, changing out of her bathing suit. I'm not complaining! I think it's awesome that people aren't soooo modest like they can be in the states. The lunch menu looked pretty tasty, but it's difficult to find seating around that time. We sat outside around a tree with coffee and drinks, it was no problem. What I want to know, is what the heck are they doing in the building next door? They're welding metal and random stuff out front...

It was not so easy to get a server to our table. We were seated quite awhile even the guest we were waiting for arrived before our server came. Think fifteen minutes. They nodded we were there but it still took a little time for them to arrive. I can say the cocktails we ordered were good and the setting was definitely wonderful but I probably would have spent more if he came by earlier. Honestly, purely for the location I would totally go again. It's lovely.

But when a friend wanted a cozy place to hang out near Bellevueplatz today, I immediately thought of this place for its fantastic hot chocolate. My hot chocolate with a generous topping of thick cream cost about CHF 10, which was outrageously expensive, but totally worth it for a decadent treat. I kind of forgot how assaulting all the fake roses are in the café... just like they are in the other Teuscher chocolate shops. It is definitely a signature touch to their shops. We left our umbrellas by the door among a pile of other umbrellas when we went in, but when we left, one of the umbrellas went missing. That's not good.

CZ is a collectively-run business where the workers are also the owners and hierarchy is dispensed with. The vibe is relaxed, all seems to run smoothly and pretension is non-existent. The menu is a mix of meat dishes, veggie dishes and vegan fare, all organic. Locally and ethically sourced products, whenever possible, is Cafe Zähringer's way. Of my few visits, I have only ever had flavorful meals attractively presented. I took my family on their first ever visit to CH to CZ for dinner and they very much enjoyed it! Having lived through the Summer of Love in San Fran as young adults, I'd like to say that this place brought 'em back, in a good way. Some of the cuisine we sampled was: Bärlauch pesto over penne, gorgeous creamed broccoli-bell pepper soup, halloumi plate accompanied by different types of salad, and tofu with veggies in a curry broth. The family was satisfied and so was I. On a warm day nothing really beats sitting outside under the trees with birds chirping having, as Ken M. said, righteous 'hippie food' at Cafe Zähringer. Non-smokers sitting out front beware--you will inhale a cig's worth of smoke or more.

Zürich is just a quite expensive place (and that's coming from me, being Swiss myself). One of the more affordable options is this restaurant / Café on a sub-level in the Zurich Train Station. There are some nice seats and tables, but also some massive wodden tables with benches. It was quite packed that day, so the bench it was. Not too comfortable if you stay a while. The menu was quite interesting (all-day breakfast) and in the end we went for one Prosciutto Panini (Ham), a Pastrami Panini, scrambled eggs with bacon and toast and a Beef Burger with fries. Some water and beer with. The panini set us back 10 CHF and 12 CHF (for a small one), the eggs with sides 10 CHF and the Burger 17 CHF PLUS 5 CHF for the fries. The Panini were a bit of a disappointment. Quite small (even for a small serving) and there wasn't really any meat inside. The Pastrami got nothing to do with the true original american Pastrami. The eggs with bacon were fine...but 10 bucks for a small bowl of breakfast. Oh well. The Burger was quite good. Patty had a nice flavour, good meat quality, a bit small though. The Burger itself was a bit of a dry affair. But the fries were nice, hot and crispy. A decent meal. But - together with fries - 22 bucks is on the top end. Beer was nice and cold, 7 bucks for half a litre...that's fine. Food-wise not a great spot. The best was definitely the Burger, presentation was nice as well. The other items we wouldn't order again. Service was very friendly though and our dog was welcome as well. All in all it's still an ok place to grab a quick bite...other places even cost more. There's always the big chains of course (the King and the Clown....), but sometimes you wanna try something else. And for that, this place was ok. But just.
