It resonates strongly with me as I am currently fighting white incompetent racist medical "professionals" in California to transfer my medical records to UCSF, so that I can obtain adequate medical treatment. I received better medical care in the Appalachians during graduate school. In this struggle I have been ignored, chastised for advocating for myself, threatened with police action because I requested (numerous times unsuccessfully via phone) for them to forward my medical records and a required doctor referral for a much needed mammogram to real medical professionals in the Bay Area. The clinic even sicked their Black attack dog (office worker) to tell me that [she didn't appreciate me playing the race card because she is Black]. (It's always the Black women who come for me first). I told her to study racism to understand how stupid she is. She is the one who threatened to call the Sheriffs on me for requesting my records in a manner she didn't a appreciate ... a Black Karen. Smithsonian Channel synopsis of Color of Care: "Racial inequity shows up in every dimension of health care," says Neel Shah, an assistant professor in obstetrics and gynecology at Harvard Medical School and chief medical officer of Maven Clinic, a pioneering virtual clinic for women and families. "The thing about maternal health that has made it the galvanizing focus of my whole career is that the wellbeing of mothers is a bellwether for the wellbeing of society as a whole." The physician lent his expertise to Color of Care, a new documentary from the Smithsonian Channel about racial disparities in health--and how to address them. The program will delve into these issues and how the covid-19 pandemic laid bare the issues facing the nation. We asked Shah about the historical roots of the connections between race and wellness. If you're a Black person in America today, you're three to four times more likely to die in childbirth than if you're white, irrespective of education or income; in New York City, you're 8 to 12 times more likely to die. In part, that's because of the difference between access to resources for someone living in the Bronx vs. the Upper East Side. Like other institutions, medicine requires representation at the highest levels of people who share the lived experiences of those who we're trying to serve. And historically we haven't had that, but everything from editorial boards at leading journals to the leaders of top health care institutions, we're starting to empower the right leaders. And second--this is where I'm putting all of my professional energy right now-- we want to use technology to get to a place where, for the first time in the world, your ZIP code doesn't have to be your destiny. It's not as though an app is going to fix health care, but there is an opportunity to use digital devices as portals into health care services.

My review is only based on seeing Dr. Caroline Conner, which is why I'm giving more than 1 star…read more At my most vulnerable I've ever been Dr. Conner was the least compassionate doctor I have ever seen. I went to EFP due to a car accident I had (which I was not at fault for). I was on the job during the accident so I had to be treated through Worker's Compensation, and the sent me there. It was serious accident where I t-boned someone going 50mph because they didn't stop at a stop sign. I had sprained my ankle, but had incredible bruising all over. She prescribed physical therapy, which I went to for a number of months. My physical therapist was incredibly helpful, EPT Rehabilitation. There were a few issues I had with her. I had pain and numbness in my right hand and arm. I asked her about it and she acted like it was no big deal. She barely acknowleged it. When I went to EPT and told them about it they said it was due to my right shoulder taking in the most impact, which damaged the nerve bundle in my neck, which connected right through the path of where my pain and numbness stared and ended. Again, I brought it up to Dr. Conner and she did nothing. Luckily the pain has subsided, but often in times of stress it itches really badly. About 6 months into treatment Dr. Conner prescribed another 3 weeks of treatment, but it took well over a month for it to be approved by WC. I had another appointment with her before it was even approved. At that time she learned I had a lawyer. Who wouldn't after an accident like that? She actually came out and accused me of only trying to get money. She said I was fine and I didn't need any more treatment. Even though I was still waiting to see the PT from the last time she prescribed it. I told her about a spot in my back that really hurt. She pushed on it really hard, told me I was fine. My back was in even more pain from her pushing on it for TWO days! It was so frustrating and still is. I still deal with a lot of back pain. I feel if I were to receive appropriate treatment I might not be in as much pain as I am. I didn't care about the money. I was only 25 and wanted my health. To this day I get migraines related to the pain in my upper back and I have sciatica that comes and goes. It's been 7 years. I would strongly advise, if you go to Eureka Family Practice to stay away from Caroline Conner, and see someone else.

I tried every OTC med there was and nothing helped at all except for ice, which was only barely effective. So I get back in town and see my physician dr korenstein at eureka family practice. I tell him I'm miserable, I can't sleep and my left shoulder is killing me. I tell him I've tried everything OTC. He gives me a med that doesn't help. I ask again and I get generic Alleve after telling him no OTC med works. Doesn't he listen? I ask again for help and I'm told that I need to go to the ER for help. WTF? What kind of patient care is that? I see this loser has 2 other negative reviews here. I used to like EFP but I'm done until they get rid of this douce.
