Don't believing their home page message. It boasts "you can be sure the job will be done right" however right was anything but what they did to my vehicle. I went in to inquire about repairing my engine. At first John was friendly and seemed to be genuine. He suggested that I bring the truck in the next morning for a thorough check, to make sure the head gasket was what needed to be fixed. I told him that I purchased the bus to rebuild the engine and convert it to bio-fuel; in hopes of creating a FREE mobile boutique to help those who are suffering from dire economic circumstances. I showed up the next morning around 9am and he was very cold, seeming to be bothered by the size of the truck, but regardless he asked me to leave the keys. Before I left I also asked him to quote me on a price for the welding of the muffler pipe and a repair to the exhaust hose. He said he'd call me in a couple hours with some prices. 7 hours later I had to call him back. He said he didn't get a chance to look at the truck, so I went to collect it at 5pm. The next day I returned with the truck and left it in hopes of getting a quote on the repairs. Once again John said he would call me in a couple of hours, however 4 hours later, around 1pm he still hadn't called, so I called the shop. This time the receptionist answered the call. After explaining which truck was mine and being placed on hold, she returned to the line and said that he hadn't had a chance to look at it completely. When I asked her if he had said anything else about the truck she said "he said its a big blue piece of shit" I was in shock and dismayed, but tried to let it roll off my sleeve. She said she would call me back in 1 hour with the quote; however I had to call back at 4pm (3hours later) to inquire on the progress. She said it was still being tested so I agreed to leave it over night. I also reminded her to give me a quote for the muffler welding and the repair to the exhaust, as it was temporary sealed with mechanics tape. The next day (day 3) I called to get the status and the quote around noon. Once again I was told that the truck was still being tested, this time they were testing the compression of the engine. She also said she would ask about the muffler and the exhaust quote before calling me back in 1 hour. However she didn't call me back by 3:30pm, so I called the shop again. At that time I was told that the engine would need to be replaced. I asked her to get me a quote and told her I would be picking up the truck in 1 hour. When I arrived, John was in the office acting very coy and standoffish. He told me that they tested the compression, and it didn't fair to well. He also said I would need a new engine, so I asked him how much it would cost. He said "off my head it will be around $4,000". After 3 days of having my truck John still could't give me a quote for anything. I 'm not quite sure what he actually did with the truck other than change the plugs on the engine and replace the cap. He told me that after they replaced the plugs, cap and checked the compression on the engine, that they "put everything back the way it was". He also said he left the truck in a place where I could easily retrieve it, as he didn't bring the truck to the front of the lot, but instead left it parked all the way in the back, nestled between an awning from a Mr Softy ice cream truck and a compact car; both were so close to the truck I nearly hit them on my way out. When I got the truck home I opened up the hood to check on the work done. Much to my dismay the engines exhaust was dismantled. The hose was not even matched up to the exhaust system, plus the mechanic just shoved everything where ever it would fit to get the hood closed. They definitely did not "put everything back the way it was". Now I know why john acted so coy and dismissive when I picked up the truck. I initially requested quotes on the repair of the head gasket, a new engine, welding of the muffler pipe and repair of the exhaust hose. After 3 days (21 hours) I was left with a torn up exhaust system, a worse driving truck and not even 1 complete quote for the new engine or any other repairs requested. I would never refer Motorworks to anyone, not even my worse enemy. If you are considering taking them your vehicle for repairs, I highly recommend that you reconsider. This place is a joke. On the website they claim: EXPERT SERVICE AND REPAIR OF YOUR VEHICLE BY SKILLED ASE CERTIFIED AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIANS. But the certification of his mechanics barely makes up for the horrible customer service and unprofessional remarks made about the truck. They are rude and inconsiderate to say the least. Before I left the truck, I asked if he offered a military discount, and he said yes. When I picked up the truck and received the bill, I once again asked for the military discount and was then told that my truck wouldn't qualify. SUCKS. BTW I'm not the only 1. Honest family business, capable, thorough and professional. (This is a real review not a purchased one)

My windshield wiper motor was broken. Went to a couple of places to get an estimate. Was told it would cost close to 450.00. Someone recommended call Motorworks, which I did. The owner, John was extremely empathic and professional. Let me come in the same day for estimate. And even found me a used motor. All in all I paid approximately 200.00. The work was well done. I waited for my car at his business. Great conversation. Comfortable. Wonderful customers were coming and going - all with seeming long time and friendly relationships with John and Mary the receptionist (who is also nice). I recommended Motorworks to my father and to anyone else who still cares about service, quality work, and truth in car repair pricing. My new mechanic from this day forth!!!!!! read more

I first went to Motorworks 4 yrs. ago when the ford dealer said "needs an engine, $5,000". Turns out it only needed an intake gasket-$900; Many thanks, John. First off let me start by telling you about I own a 1987 Buick Grand National and I took my car to Motorworks for an engine rebuild. At first all seemed great, John the manager seemed very friendly and helpful regarding the build. He quoted me $2700-$3200. I told him $3500 was literally all I could spend many times and he said that is fine and we shook hands. There were other things I wanted done like installing a boost gauge and a new radiator that John said would most likely even be in my budget range. The first "unpleasant" experiences I had with them was that I would never ever get a call back. I would always call, talk to the rather incompetent secretary who told me John was not there at the time and I would receive a call back very soon. This call back would never happen and I would be calling the next day over and over again until I could reach him. Lets also talk about how Motorworks doesn't actually build engines but send your engine to a machine shop for the engine to be built. ( While this does not matter to me, when I first dropped the car there they told me that they would be doing all the work themselves and for two weeks the car just sat there and John told me everyday he was going to open my engine up when obviously he never did) These first two weeks that the car just sat at there shop while I waited for parts to come in could have been used to just open my engine up and have to sitting at the machine shop for immediate work to be done and also to actually tell me what was wrong inside the engine. The whole process ended up taking a month and two weeks (supposed to take 3 weeks). Around the day the car was supposed to be fully ready I get a call from the secretary saying this: " Oh yea the car is ready but there ended up being a little more damage then they thought so its going to be around a thousand more." They never called me telling me this nor asked me for my authorization to go ahead and finish the engine. If they had actually asked me I would never had them do that because the final bill ended up being $4,650. They ended up charging me $1400 more with out asking me. Now I know that what they gave me was an estimate and it would not have been a big deal if it was a couple hundred more but 1400 more is completely outrages to not get authorization on. So when I went over to pick the car up I calmly talked to them about the fact that they screwed me over but all did was they stubbornly argue with me and never gave me a valid reason why they went ahead and did the repair. My words of advice are if you love your car and truly car about you should not take your car here. I made the stupid stupid mistake of trusting them without getting anything in writing. During my argument with John he smirked at me and said "where's everything in writing." read more
