Definitely a more genuine feel here than a lot of the large "import" shops in the South Granville neighbourhood, and it's only a stone's throw from Granville and Broadway. Go peek your head in!

The store sells both old (antique) and new reproduction furniture and decor. We took our time since there was so much inventory (we actually had to return the following day to pick up more items). We bought a handmade Tang Dynasty horse (reproduction, of course), a couple of old stools, wind chimes, lamps and pillow cases/table runners. We got all items on discount since they were having a closing out sale. The owner is friendly and accommodating. He was hopeful he could renew his lease. We would definitely return if he is still open on our next trip (crossed fingers).

What did piqued my eye are these measuring spoons in the shape of a heart, a set for $28, and you bet it's stainless steel, so a nice fun secondary gift to get in time for Valentine's ;), and especially for a great cook. The selection of vintage and vintage-inspired goods is wide-ranging, from tea cup candles, to metal furniture, to quaint decor like phrenology hands and puppy dog tail hooks. It's always a pleasure to pass by to see whether they have anything new in store! They also have a website in which you can browse through their collection and later ring them to hold for you (as they understandably don't hold everything in-store). And the other useful services they offer are upcycling your used furniture and a finding service in which you can submit photographs of what you're looking for and have the store help you in your search. Very nifty! Overall, L'Atelier offers extensive services and a remarkable array of home decor, and the people have never failed to provide excellent hospitality. This is definitely one of my favourite shops in the area for all these reasons!

Well made items on the higher end in price and finishing, these pieces will last. Unfortunately while downstairs an over the dining room table light that was basically a lit circle with a long skinny lit rod going through it was about to slip off and luckily my gf was there to help try to put it back but had a hell of a time balancing the darn thing! A very rude salesman came running over and raised his voice at her saying "why would you touch that?!" My poor gf tried in disbelief to explain what was happening but the man was so rude he didn't even apologize! We left in disbelief that an employee would react so unprofessionally! I believe that employees are just as important as the brand or company they represent and this was in no way reflective of the beautiful furnishings inside the store. This is why I'm giving them one star. An apology would have been nice.

Everything is modern and stylish with some unique furniture that I haven't seen elsewhere. I was so comfortable browsing the room and I can picture so many of these pieces in my new home. Staff are knowledgeable, patient and helpful. I just moved recently and I was browsing to see what furniture would suit my space. They were willing to answer all my questions and genuinely wanted to assist in finding the right fit for my personal style. They also have a wide selection of lifestyle and home products. As an aspiring home cook, I couldn't resist buying a set of the stone dinnerwear from Portugal. Not only are they gorgeous, but they're also oven-safe, dishwasher-safe, and doesn't get hot when I pull it out of the microwave. As this is a new business I took several photos, but would recommend stopping by to see their showroom as it is even more beautiful in person.
