Kelley rocks! I found out about her through my chiropractor, at a time when I was wanting to exercise but couldn't seem to haul my butt to the gym. I recognized that I needed someone to take the reigns and help me design and monitor a program. I'm pretty motivated and self-disciplined when I have a structure, but I couldn't seem to design the structure for myself.
So I met with her the first time, and knew that she liked to work out doors. She told me to come out to GG Park, and she ran me through an assessment on the island at Stowe Lake. She had me running and jumping, keeping notes and timing me to get a sense of how to build a program. She was firm but monitored me closely so I didn't get overwhelmed (I was a bit saggy then). Then, sure enough, she gave me a detailed and inspired program to work on between our sessions. That structured approach was exactly what I was needing, and in the year or so I've been working with Kelley, I've lost about 20 pounds, developed muscle mass, and really importantly, stopped drinking coffee and switched to green tea, something I'm certain is related to a healthier body, and something I've never been able to pull off in the last 20 years. (She didn't push this at all, and I didn't even expect it, but there ya go.)
Also, Kelley is incredibly creative in her approach to exercise. I was going to the gym religiously for a while, and made a lot of progress using a hyper-disciplined approach (the body for life program). But it wasn't sustainable because it was so (bleeping) boring. At some point my mind just rebelled and I couldn't cross through the door anymore. I tried just working out at home, but that burned out as well. I've got a tendency towards inertia, so I'll get stuck in a rut. But Kelley has trained me, probably above all, in the "how" of exercise rather than in the particular details (which, however, when I've had detail questions she's demonstrated how deeply she knows the terrain). So I've learned how to exercise creatively, to set off into the park on a run and create a circuit training on the fly with just benches and ground, that I come back from dripping sweat and feeling cleaned out. So there's a sustainability to exercise that she's given me that I actually didn't know was there before. Exercise had been something of a binge-and-purge process.
And she's been very flexible with me, as well. Some periods between our workouts, I've been a self-starter. Others, I've been de-inspired, and she'll come in with a more structured program for that period, adjusting as necessary to suit my needs.
Finally, she's really fun to be around, easy to tease and joke with, and disciplined without being, unnecessarily, a hard ass. She's really great for all these reasons. Highly, highly recommended! read more
