Solid subs! We were a little hesitant because the interior is quiet and not the most homey. But the subs were huge and well dressed, good price, tasty ingredients, and the bread held the sub together nicely. Only recommendation would be to have more bread options like a Parmesan or herb bread. But they keep it simple and it's a solid place! read more

Probably 3.5, but I'll round up to 4 stars. $9.69 for my cheesesteak as ordered. Not a bad price, not great. The small sub could feed two people. It's very bread-y and thick with a slight amount of crunch. Construction of the sandwich was lacking. See pic for uneven distribution of meat, veggie and mayo. I ended up not eating all of the bread saving room for meat, mushrooms, onions, and American cheese, plus mayo. There's a better value at Philadelphia cheesesteaks other locations and their sandwich is far superior. Would I try mother's again? Maybe, maybe not. Perhaps I'd try a cold sub but I think the cheesesteak is just ok. Friendly staff and private parking lot make this a good choice in this part of town but probably not a preferred destination for me at this time. read more

I gotta tell you what, the loaded Italian hoagie is just simply sandwich art. Huge, packed full and enough to feed a family of 3 with leftover. We ended up pulling our subs apart to get what we ordered on each sub. Small note before other things: it's difficult to find an online menu. They don't have a website, just a Facebook page that hasn't been updated. The subs - Not much meat. Just the right amount of mayo, salt, pepper, and oregano. Some things here are great: special Italian cold cut, cheesesteak, chicken cheesesteak. Some are not so good: meatball sub, meatballs have bad texture and don't taste home made. Yesterday was my first time at Mother's Subs. When I was a kid, I loved subs. I used to go to a small family owned shop in the town I used to live in on the west coast and it was amazing... but many years later and countless disappointments from big chains like subway and jersey mikes left a sour taste in my mouth. Well that has all changed. I went in and was greeted with friendly staff who went on to make me probably the best Italian sub I've ever had. The 20" is unbelievably big. I am still working on it. The meats are delicious. The veggies are fresh as can be. The bread is amazing. The perfect balance of condiments and everything else, all put together neatly so the thing does not fall apart on you. I am so glad I happened upon this place and look forward to spreading the word and trying out different subs. read more

First time at Mother's so I'll update when we go back, but the subs were really good. We got a cheesesteak works and a spicy chicken cutlet. Both were very good. The fries are the coated kind that are fried crispy which aren't my favorite but that's a personal preference and they were cooked just fine. The sub bread was really good - big, so it contained everything, but airy, so it wasn't bread overload. The outside of the bread was crispy without being thick so it was easy to chew through. The staff was super helpful and very friendly. We will definitely go back. read more

I have visited this location several times within several months with mixed results. The first time I bought a cheese steak sandwich which tasted somewhat burnt and greasy. The second time, I ordered the tuna salad sandwich for my wife and she said it was ok. On the third visit, I again ordered the tuna salad and also the roast beef. We did not like either one. My roast beef sandwich tasted very dry and had very little flavor. The employees are decent, but the food not so decent. I prefer the sandwiches at Hoageez in Hummelstown. read more

At first something tasted really sour but then I realized that the provolone was probably picante (the strong kind) and once I took it out it everything was fine. I also had onions on mine and they weren't the really strong purple kind so that was great. The service was fast and the place has a small parking lot which is great because I hate street parking.
