It was better than I expected. And it is close to the airport. The neighborhood seems really sketchy. But there is a Tim Horton's right around the corner. I'm from America, so I'm not sure but I got the feeling that a Tim's is like a Starbucks in that if there's one in the neighborhood, then the neighborhood can't be that bad. This may be an entirely false equivalency and my lack of fear may have been completely unfounded.
If you follow Google maps, it will take you to the back of the hotel, but it's well marked and can easily find your way from there. The first thing I saw as we pulled in were dumpsters, overfilled with trash and with bulk trash items piled around them.
This is obviously a weekly/monthly hotel. It's not a place you want to stay if you are vacationing. And it's not really kid friendly. There's a sign in the front office that says there's no marijuana smoking allowed in the rooms (Thank you, high school French), so people hang out in the parking lot and smoke. Me, included. Which is fine for adults, but you probably don't want your kids running around that.
The room wasn't nice, that would be a step too far. But it was reasonably clean. The areas in front of the rooms were not so clean. Which could easily be fixed with trash cans and ashtrays put around the outside area.
Everything was fine. There were no problems. If you have a flight in the morning, this is a perfectly fine place to stay. read more
