The texture was impossibly smooth and luxurious, while the flavors were rich, elegant, and unlike anything I've experienced before. For my main course, she selected perfectly seared scallops accompanied by a delicate tortellini and a silky scallop purée. Every bite was expertly prepared, with each component complementing the others without overpowering them. We didn't have to wait long to be seated even though there were six of us. There were so many appealing items on the menu that it was hard to chose. Our server, Chau, was patient and helpful (even when I changed my mind about what to eat). Most of us ordered non-alcoholic drinks (their lemonade is delicious and not too sweet) and their home-baked bread, which was cut into quarters, was hearty and delicious, especially with the fresh butter that melted on impact. I started out with the Gaspacho, which was nice and cold, flavorful and just a bit chunky. For the main course I chose the Lobster Roll, without the roll, with half salad and half french fries. The meal in total was out of this world, and if I lived here I'd be at this place frequently. This restaurant also has facilities for recreation such as swimming pools, spa and I believe you can book a room as well. The grounds are spectacular and a perfect place to get away from the city. This establishment was awarded with the distinction at par with the Micheline 5-star rating, and I can understand why, even only having seen a fraction of the facilities. The hot tub was more like a lukewarm tub but it was still nice. This hotel is in a great location and I walked to Tim Horton's, the supermarket, the pharmacy, and to the downtown area. It's also right by the lake and a park. I loved the view from our room. Since I rarely eat breakfast, I didn't go to the breakfast room but the two other people in my family went and said breakfast was just ok, not bad but nothing special. The architecture of the building is different and I mostly liked it. The raw concrete aesthetic in the room was not to my taste but I did like the design of the lobby and the chill music playing by the elevators. I'm glad we stayed in this hotel!

The "Director" at Auburge do Joli Vent would not make eye contact with us or speak to us. We had traveled all the way across the continent to be in Knowlton and our vacation plans were totally destroyed. We lost half a day just arguing with them and getting other vastly inferior accommodations. The compensation for our trouble: They offered us a cup of coffee!

After exploring the town, we decided to eat in their pub. There was live music that night, which was delightful. We shared Forestry Poutine-if you go to Canada & don't get poutine, did you really go? There is a fireplace in the common area and relaxing there Laura added to our bites with some olives...and a visit from her adorable dog. Breakfast was served in a French door adorned room with a lit fireplace. A yogurt compote was followed with an artfully arranged smorgasbord of breakfast choices that lacked nothing including croissants and chocolate chip cookies! Laura sent us on our way with boxed leftovers as beautiful as the original presentation. So hope we get to return to this storybook inn next time we cross the boarder.
