The staff at the front pods (there's not really a desk) were very friendly and professional. The elevator was kind of slow so since I was staying on the 2nd floor, I generally took the stairs. My room was on the inside so faced the interior courtyard. Basically I looked at the roof of the pool area. So that was awful but I wasn't looking out the windows that much. The room was fairly large and comfortable, with nice beds, a chair, a desk and a flat screen tv. The bathroom was a tight squeeze and the shower was not the nicest, but that was the only negative to the room. Otherwise it was pretty cool. The location is great. Very convenient to walk to the historic government buildings, the Byward Market or the canal. Plenty of restaurants and nightlife near by. There is a pool, which looked pretty nice and there's a tiny gym with a few treadmills and a couple of elliptical machines, but no weights. You can purchase a hot breakfast but I opted just for the coffee in the room. The wifi was very good. This is a decent place, made better by really nice staff and a comfortable bed.

The impressive 429 room hotel looks like a grand castle on top of a hill. They have a restaurant, high tea and a bar lounge. We checked in and the room smelled a bit moldy probably from the carpet, curtains and bathroom so we requested to change rooms. The next one was much better. It's an older hotel which needs some updating. We loved the location and the historic elegance.

The bedding was soft but I wasn't able to get any quality sleep. When I return to my room on second day, my duvet was replaced but I could see some obvious stains to it. Thank God I don't sleep on that side of the bed. Moreover, the TV is off-centered from the bed so only one side of the bed can see it. The sightline is blocked by a pillar on other half of the bed. There are less than 100 channels on the TV. The sports channel do not have high definition. I have to watch it on SD even though the TV screen is huge. Onto the bathroom. The faucet for handwashing was too close to the edge of the sink. The overhead shower was partially blocked and could only run for about 5-8 seconds before the pressure would shut the water off. The soap and shampoo bottles were very difficult to squeeze. I would probably book another hotel next time. One thing that is actually dangerous: the fire escape map in my room doesn't indicate which room I'm in on the map. No doubt that this is illegal. The things that are good about this hotel are knowledgeable staff and convenient location with lots of food and shopping options.

Luckily, we found a parking spot in the hotel's available underground parking garage and went through check-in at the front desk fairly quickly. When we got to our room, we dropped our bags and rested. The beds were comfy and the room was nicely decorated. The bathroom had a shower and there were Aveda toiletry products on the sink counter (loved them). We didn't get one of the rooms facing the lobby, so our window looked out to the street. Overall, I liked our room. Plus, there is free Wi-Fi. There is a restaurant downstairs. Didn't try the food, but we had a couple of beers there after a long day of sightseeing. The gym in the hotel was good - it has variety of machines and free weights. The hotel also has a pool. Also, there is a little business center where you can use a computer and printer; I pulled up our MapQuest directions there which was very helpful. Next time I come to Ottawa, I'll most likely book here. Highly recommended!

The room we stayed in was spacious with excellent amenities: Aveda Beauty Products and Keurig Coffee Maker. I love the location as it is just a few blocks away from Parliament Hill and walkable distance or a short taxi ride from Byward Market. With only 106 rooms and lack of conference facilities, you know you would not be overwhelmed by groups and groups of Conference goers like other bigger hotels in the area. Indoor Swimming Pool and 24/7 Fitness Centre Free WiFi Access throughout the property. Great place to stay if you visiting Ottawa.
