Wendover as well as West Wendover are right at the Utah border and they go by the next time zone, so you gotta change you clocks for that. This hotel, The Best Western Plus, is not my usual hotel chain we stay at for travel, but there weren't any Holiday Inn Expresses in town, so I just picked this place as some place sort of similar with, you know free breakfast and clean rooms and a level above Motel 6 or something. Checking in was no problem, all credit cards taken and the staff was friendly. My crew seemed happy not to have to travel any more. We lugged all out stuff in and got to our rooms just fine. My room was clean and the first thing I do is try to log onto the WIFI. It works fine and speed is OK to get my work done. The bathroom was nice and the hot water had good pressure, cause I could use a long hot shower right about now. My little water tank at home just runs out too fast! Everyone else said the rooms were fine. Breakfast was on level with most free hotel breakfasts. Coffee was hot and the food was too. It's nice to have a little change in breakfast choice from our usual Holiday Inn Express. Tomorrow is back on the road to Salt Lake. At least the speed limit is 80mph!

The only issue was with the room, after checking in we noticed a sewer gas smell coming from the bathroom. Reported it to the front desk and they assured us it would be taken care or promptly. upon returning to our room later that night we could smell some spray that had been used to cover the oder. The following night the oder was back, upon checkout we mentioned this to the desk clerk and she stated that we would be getting a discount, still waiting. We will be staying here again, as our friends who traveled with us had no problems with their room.

When we asked for directions to one of the restaurants the girl at the front desk neglected to tell us that the restaurant was closed that night. Another girl at the desk inserted herself into the situation and was rude and raised her voice at us. Both rooms my family stayed in had air conditioners that were incredulous when they kicked on. When searching for a room in Wendover I knew I would not be there long, so price, lack of bed bugs…read moreand dog friendly were my number one priorities while doing my search. I settled on Super 8 because their website states they have "A 15.00 USD per pet per night fee" which is incredibly reasonable and reviews mentioned a pet relief area. I also read tons of reviews for similarly priced hotels nearby and there were far too many photos of bed bugs for me, so since I saw none in any of the Super 8 reviews, I made the reservation. Upon arrival, there was a very young boy (15?) in the front office and a little girl (maybe 7 yrs old?) that checked me into my room. The young man was masked and I assumed this was a family run business which is nice. We saw that the pool was closed while parking in front of our room, which was fine because we had no intention of using it anyway and when we were looking for ice, my husband said there was an interior pool/sauna area with garbage bags all over that looked like it had been under construction for a very long time and was not accessible. Again, not an issue as we were just there for the night. The room was a very good size which was nice and I checked the bed right away and found clean sheets and no bugs. There was a microwave where we were able to heat up food and there was wifi but only one of us was able to be on at a time without it slowing to a stop. The bathroom was dated and although the tub/shower itself wasn't super dirty, I did not feel comfortable showering because things like the vents and baseboards were covered in filth. I just showered at the next hotel instead. I did appreciate how well lit the outside of the hotel was at night. There was no window to the front so I could not see my car, which I did not like but when I took my dog out after dark, I was pleasantly surprised at the bright lights in the parking lot and outside the rooms. It was easy to see and a hopefully a deterrent to anyone looking to take advantage of the lack of windows out the front. When I did take my dog out to potty, there was a green area on the side of the building but the only thing that made it a pet relief area was that hundreds of dogs had used it as a toilet and none of the owners had cleaned up after them. It was really disgusting and I actually walked my dog around instead because I didn't want her stepping in dog poop and bringing it in to the room. Also, I had to pull a paint chip that was on the door out of my dogs mouth and I was not happy about that so be attentive if you have your pet (or a child) with you. Overall it wasn't a great experience, but I knew what I needed and this hotel worked. I will say that if you are traveling with a dog and looking for a clean bed to sleep in with no bed bugs, this place will do in a pinch. For the price, I was not unhappy and I was able to grab coffee and a muffin from the office for breakfast on my way out.

The bathroom itself was pretty gross, chunks of the wall were gone, the tile floor was disgusting mess. mold around the tub near the floor. I'm pretty sure someone tried to clean this room but its so old it's a bit hard to. there were candy wrappers under the bed, the carpet used for a baseboard was coming off the wall. There was floss in the drain, left it there as I didn't have gloves to try to take it out. Overall, I would never, ever stay here again or recommend this flop motel To my worst enemy. Luckily we live about 2.5 hours away from home so there was no way i was going to shower in there, I'd be afraid the rub may fall through the floor. This place either gets an entire new everything, or it should be bulldozed along with everything thing in it. The one and only thing we found is it is quiet, and the TV was top notched.
