They also include cookies for the kids and they had a popcorn machine for them to use. I love how kid friendly this hotel is. You can easily tell how much work the hotel staff puts in by how beautiful everything is when you walk in. I visited for a night and stayed on the first floor. Our room was HUGE and included a Jacuzzi tub that was super fun. The staff was super friendly during our entire visit and accommodated us nicely. This hotel felt like a home away from home. Highly recommend for anyone in the area.

I booked ahead and upon arrival had zero issues checking in. * Christina, the Assistant GM, was very nice. Great service and very upbeat. She made sure she got us our gift bags too which came upon check in. * Christina also made sure that we knew the times of breakfast, check out, and what to do if we wanted to have clean bedding and towels, and how to turn on our mini fridge in our room. * Our room was very nice. We got a king size bed in the newly renovated portion of the hotel - first floor. (See photos) * We appreciated the refreshed bar in the entry way of the hotel which had coffee, hot cocoa, and even popcorn in the evening. 1 star : * We stayed for 3 days, 2 nights. On the 2nd day we made sure we put all our towels together, and bedding too, and let Josh at the front desk know that we wanted housekeeping to refresh our room. This was done at 8:30/9am, to ensure we gave plenty of time for the staff to know what we desired and also followed the exact protocol we were told. ** When we got back to our room later that afternoon, 3pm, no housekeeping had been in our room to refresh it. I went to the desk and talked to Josh again about this and he just said housekeeping had left for the day so we couldn't get our room refreshed. There was no apology and frankly, he didn't care. My husband came to talk to the GM or AGM but Josh said they weren't around and said there's nothing he can do to make things right. So we had no housekeeping and dirty sheets, dirty towels despite following protocol (see photo). *** Was pretty upsetting that nothing was made right to ensure we had a nice stay despite what happened. **** Josh was SUPER unprofessional. He made funny face gestures when speaking on the phone in front of customers and guests waiting to speak with him. He was extremely unkind, lacked customer service, and frankly didn't care how his actions or words affected the situation. It's unfortunate having a staff member like this because it puts a damper on the entire staff and hotel. ***** Fortunately, Christina was amazing and made up for the experience with Josh. She made our stay start off on a great foot and although it ended on a bad note, she was pleasant and kind.

What's changed isn't a big deal to us. The lobby trimmed down, we liked it better when it had a homier decor. No more coffeemaker in the rooms, or that little decorative throw on the bed. Housekeeping no longer daily which we didn't use daily anyway, but may bother some. Clean overall but I wasn't quite sure our room had been vacuumed. Our room this year had a kind of funky smell, The included breakfast is still good with options for everyone. And behind the motel is a historical feature, the Ardis Furnace, worth a peak. Our rooms were $168/night after a AAA discount which seems a bit high to me. We'll shop around next year.

If you're like me and need a no frills place to stay, this is it! 2 complaints that are minor: the bed was on some kind of metallic platform that squeaked whenever we got into or out of bed, and there was a bit of road noise. Homeless people hang out in this area and smoke, cough, talk loudly, cough, dog barking, cough... Then, at 5 am, a homeless woman showed up, talking very loudly on her phone and smoking. Then she started playing (loudly) videos/whatever on her phone. I eventually looked out and she had set up camp. Smoking, drinking motel coffee out of a real coffee cup, banging on the used cigarette butt holder, and watching whatever on her phone (probably using the free motel WiFi that you don't need a password). Went to front desk and asked the owner to ask her to leave. He seemed familiar with her. If so, then why put us in a room where we will be woken up by her? Especially since there were less than 6 cars in the parking lot, so there should have been lots of rooms to choose from. It was especially loud for us since the A/C did NOT work and we had to open a window. When I tried to close the window due to loudness, it wouldn't close. Room was very dirty.
