    Functional but slow WiFi

This trip, we are staying in Handicap Accessible room 104. This room does not feel "upgraded" like the room in my original review. However I still give it 5 stars based on its price category because there isn't really anything that needs upgrading. This room is completely comfy, clean and I'd definitely stay here again. NOTE: The tub shower is not a roll in. It's a regular tub shower with a nice fold down bench. NOTE: the Handicapped rooms here ONLY have a FULL SIZE BED...not a queen. NOTE: this side of the hotel is not next to the freeway and yet I hear a lot of highway noise. I think it is because we are on a hallway that goes over to the freeway side. If you are sensitive to highway noise you might want to ask for the quieter location. The last two pics are this room 104. If you find this review useful please vote!

    Bed bugs

Bed bugs anyone? I know this isn't an all thrills hotel. You get what you pay for - the shower could be cleaner, the floors are dirty, the bed sucks and you get two small pillows. But just because it's cheap doesn't mean you should be okay with having bed bugs. Absolutely disgusting.

The best part about motel 6 for us is that pets are allowed and there is no extra fee!

Obviously this is a motel 6: no frills, no hair dryer, no shampoo. What there is: soap, clean towels, a heater (it was cold), renovated rooms, flat screen tv. We stopped after we decided we could drive no longer around 12 midnight. We had fast and easy check in within 5 minutes without a prior reservation. Motel did not feel sketchy, there were many travelers there The best part about motel 6 is that they accept pets (all of them!), and they don't make you pay extra!

Moderately clean room. Does need an update. The screen on our window was bent, the control for the cooling and heating also bent coming off wall. Furniture was also peeling. Beds not that comfortable, but good for a stop and sleep at the last minute. Pool was closed because of health reasons which kinda was scary.

Woke up with bed bug bites after spending the night here. Stayed in room 238.

An ashtray in the non smoking room with a no smoking sign on it.

If I could describe this place in one word--DISGUSTING, DIRTY, NASTY, OVERPRICED and LOUD all come to mind. Granted, I knew not to expect much from a Motel 6. When they say no frills, they mean literally none. Apparently a lock on the bathroom door or a closet is a luxury. However, I did expect a clean room. The first room we were given came complete with a toilet that had been used that wasn't flushed. Whoever cleaned it used the facilities and left--toilet paper and waste still in the commode. When we tried to flush it the toilet didn't work. Upon further inspection there were many dead bugs on the floor of the bathroom and the left side of the bed. They weren't ants, roaches or spiders, but at least 10 bugs were on the floor. There also wasn't a remote for our television. We asked for a new room and were given one right away, the counter person appalled at what we said was left behind. The second room was cleaner, but in the end we were pretty freaked out. I sprayed everything with Lysol and we checked the bed before getting in. There was a quarter sized burned out hole in the blanket, even though the room was non smoking. The water pressure dropped and turned cold in the shower when the sink was being used at the same time. We were given a handicap access room, but at five two and with all my capabilities, the bathtub was small for me. The motel itself is located right off the freeway by numerous fast food restaurants, a Denny's and gas stations. The nicest hotel nearby is a Best Western at Anderson's. If you're stranded or need a place to crash for a few hours like we were and need a cheap place, this is one of the only options. The Best Western was at least $30-40 more, but you get what you pay for. The room was small and there was a lot of outside noise. The freeway noise didn't bother me, but the people stomping and talking loudly all hours of the night did. You can hear every little thing going on outside, upstairs and next door. If you're a light or sensitive sleeper the highway noise will be a problem. I wouldn't come back and I wouldn't suggest stopping here unless you had no other option. We almost slept in our car that's how grossed out we were. For the same price I've stayed in better places, and the posted rate of $85 is an insult. In the future I'll either drive ahead a bit to get a better room or stay at the Best Western. Stay away unless it's an emergency!

This isn't a shower, it's the elevator to the spaceship bridge!

I've never booked a room here, but we would meet up with our friends from Madera at this hotel since their place is too far for me to drive. Yesterday, I discovered a really cool greenhouse and a charming wine museum I had never seen before. There's no charge to enter the wine room, but you need a key card from the lobby to access it. Additionally, there's a cute, small pet park for furry friends. The hotel also features a pond filled with colorful koi fish and another pond with waterfalls. We spotted an adorable turtle just hanging out with some fake ducks. There are a couple of areas with fire pits, and there's even a rose garden. I found a spot where you can play bocce and horseshoes. The courtyard is definitely fun to explore, and the restaurant's view is fantastic. I also learned about a bar called The Lounge. I tried the food at the Kitchen for breakfast and lunch yesterday. The service was slow on both occasions. We had to wait for ten minutes because the staff member at the desk said the server would return by then. I asked if they could seat us while we waited for her break to finish, but we decided to stay anyway. Regardless, the food was excellent both times, so the restaurant kicks ass even though the service doesn't. There are many places to visit outside the hotel. The Korean Memorial is nearby, but we skipped it yesterday. Instead, we discovered a few parks with trails that offer beautiful views of the hills and the San Luis Reservoir. We also visited the Romero Overlook Visitors Center, where you can learn about the water system and the area's history. I'm sure there are more things to do in the area, but that was all we had time for during our adventure yesterday.

Serious Security Breach and a Staff That Doesn't Understand Guest Safety…read more My experience at the Residence Inn Modesto was nothing short of alarming. I had a Do Not Disturb sign clearly displayed on my door, yet the hotel staff entered my room anyway. This isn't a housekeeping mix‑up -- it's a direct breach of personal security and a complete disregard for guest safety. When I raised the issue, both the front desk supervisor and front desk agent told me the property can "enter any room at any time," even with a Do Not Disturb posted. That statement alone should concern anyone staying here. It shows a total lack of understanding of basic privacy, guest rights, and safety protocols. The Regional Manager didn't handle it any better. He offered 5,000 points (about $20) as a "gesture," and seemed surprised when I told him that was unacceptable. The fact that such a serious violation was met with a token offer and blank stares says everything. What became painfully clear is that no one at this property -- from the front desk to management -- grasps the gravity of entering a guest's room without permission. They treated it as if it were nothing, when in reality it's a major security breach that puts guests and their belongings at risk. If you value your privacy, your safety, or the expectation that your room won't be accessed without your consent, do not stay here. This property has made it clear they do not take those responsibilities seriously.

Places like this are a privilege, NOT a right. 2. The state/government doesn't have to provide a roadside rest area, public park, beach, or a "place with a great view." (i.e. - Vista point) 3. I'm thankful and appreciative for these amenities. If you've ever played @ a city/state park, beach, used a public restroom, stopped @ a rest area to stretch your legs on a long @ss road trip, then you too have enjoyed the benefits of just what I'm talking about. I was traveling from San Diego to San Francisco and knew we would need a few hours of sleep, so I called ahead around midnight to confirm availability. I let them know we would arrive around 2:00 AM. The gentleman on the phone was polite and confirmed a rate of $122 plus tax, with payment upon arrival. When we arrived at 2:00 AM, the front desk experience was immediately uncomfortable. The woman working the desk seemed irritated that we were there at all. When I asked for a room, she quoted $156. I calmly explained that I had just spoken with their reservation line and was quoted $122. She responded bluntly, "We don't price match," and said she didn't care who I spoke with. She then told me that if she honored that rate, she would also charge a $50 early check-in fee. While standing in the lobby, I called the reservation number again and was once more quoted the $122 rate. While I was on the phone, the front desk attendant was frantically texting someone on her personal phone, which felt very odd. The reservation agent placed me on hold and called the front desk directly. I was standing right in front of her while this happened. She told them she could not honor the rate because she had already "done her checkout for the night." I genuinely felt like I was being taken advantage of and that the refusal was personal and spiteful rather than policy-based. To make matters worse, the front desk employee then walked into the back and took a call on her personal phone. As we were preparing to leave, I saw a large cockroach scurry across the lobby floor. That was the final confirmation that leaving was the right decision. I have never been so disappointed in a hotel or its customer service, and this experience was enough to ensure I will not stay at a La Quinta again. I will be reporting this experience to corporate, and I strongly suggest management re-evaluate overnight staffing and customer service standards at this location. Sometimes the universe steps in for a reason. This was one of those times.
