Our room was gross and had a cockroach crawling on the floor, some rooms are better than others.

I was traveling from San Diego to San Francisco and knew we would need a few hours of sleep, so I called ahead around midnight to confirm availability. I let them know we would arrive around 2:00 AM. The gentleman on the phone was polite and confirmed a rate of $122 plus tax, with payment upon arrival. When we arrived at 2:00 AM, the front desk experience was immediately uncomfortable. The woman working the desk seemed irritated that we were there at all. When I asked for a room, she quoted $156. I calmly explained that I had just spoken with their reservation line and was quoted $122. She responded bluntly, "We don't price match," and said she didn't care who I spoke with. She then told me that if she honored that rate, she would also charge a $50 early check-in fee. While standing in the lobby, I called the reservation number again and was once more quoted the $122 rate. While I was on the phone, the front desk attendant was frantically texting someone on her personal phone, which felt very odd. The reservation agent placed me on hold and called the front desk directly. I was standing right in front of her while this happened. She told them she could not honor the rate because she had already "done her checkout for the night." I genuinely felt like I was being taken advantage of and that the refusal was personal and spiteful rather than policy-based. To make matters worse, the front desk employee then walked into the back and took a call on her personal phone. As we were preparing to leave, I saw a large cockroach scurry across the lobby floor. That was the final confirmation that leaving was the right decision. I have never been so disappointed in a hotel or its customer service, and this experience was enough to ensure I will not stay at a La Quinta again. I will be reporting this experience to corporate, and I strongly suggest management re-evaluate overnight staffing and customer service standards at this location. Sometimes the universe steps in for a reason. This was one of those times.

Abstract You cannot…read moreinvestigate the mental state of your hotel managers. The Customer is ALWAYS RIGHT I was robbed at the Travelodge in Los Banos, California Dear Priceline, I had made a reservation for February 7th, 2024 at the so-called Travelodge by Wyndham in Los Banos, California and checked in at around 2 pm that date. After checking the room, I got to my main object, the tub. I had asked the hotel manager if the tub would stop up and he said, "yes." I checked and there was no way possible unless I stuffed things in the drain. I checked the hot water because I had traveled a long way and needed to soak my bones. There was no hot water. I called the front desk and he said, let it run for 15 seconds. I had let it run for close to a minute; no hot water. He said, "listen, I won't charge you for the tub; we charge for the tub." Of course, I said, "WHAT?" This, of course is unheard of. How would it be possible to know if I used the tub or the shower and this is unheard of! At that point, the conversation escalated and I said, "I want my money back." He said, "if you don't leave my property, I'm calling the police. I did nothing wrong so I said, "Go ahead." Beforehand, when I checked in, I received no paper to sign, simply a key card, no registration paper so I could put my New Mexico tag in, he took my card and double charged me which I was to find out. I wasn't particularly concerned, was tired and hurt from driving a thousand miles and just wanted a hot bath. Back to the police, they knocked on the hotel door in around 40 minutes after I entered the room and after the phone conversation. I did not use the room and disturbed nothing but a hand towel. I was talking to Priceline customer service and handed the cellphone to a policeman and he took a number to Priceline to call since I was attempting to get my money back. As far as protocols for Priceline to the hotel, I had no idea and thought if a hotel room smelled like cigarettes and vomit, had no bed or no hot water, I could reject it. Seems not! I turned in the key, said a few words and left and went down the street to a Planet Fitness and took a shower and slept in my car at Pilot Truck Stop in Madera, California. The next day, I was exhausted and booked a real hotel in Fresno, Ramada by Wyndham. During that day of rejection, Priceline called Travelodge by Wyndham in Los Banos, California pretty much all day, the next day and subsequent days until today when he finally answered the phone and rejected my refund. Priceline agent did not ask why. Today is Feb. 17th and I had been dealing with Priceline agents in The Philippines for at least an hour a day until now. Priceline said they would call me back and never did, told me to keep my phone on multiple times, one call back, call back in two hours on the 16th because the manager of the Travelodge was in a meeting and my call would be expedited. It was not, I was on hold for another interminable length of time with your hold music that I despise since I am a composer and X-college music teacher and can't stand wrong notes. Be that as it may, hold music is a fact of life and mushy accents as well but I could finally get information and ideas of protocols. It is a fact and record, I did not stay at that hotel. Cannot stay at a hotel where there is no hot water and the manager lies to me and now steals my money. I will act. I can sue for the sum of $30 for $1500 and the price of the serving. I have called Wyndham and spoken to them about this property and of course, they do not want their name on it. I have no jurisdiction in Connecticut so I will sue the hotel in Los Banos in California and want records from you to bolster my case. Of course, I have to collect but I'm okay with that. I will use the court of public opinion which is my judgment, you should not be associated with this property and I will ask you to refund my charge from Priceline and I will do nothing. What is my time, pain and suffering worth? I understand that you cannot hoof it to every hotel and give every manager and desk person a psychological examination but this guy, and I am well aware of psychological types, I'm 72 and have dealt with a lot of personality types. I have police records, I have attendance at Planet Fitness since I use a card to enter, I have the records from the Philippines. Hours and days on the phone trying to recover my money. The psychopath would not refund and your agent did not ask why. There are no records that I even stayed there, could not find it at your website and I've been charged as a ghost. No record except the Priceline charge and his double charge which he refunded because it would look bad. The record shows that he double charged me. No, you are to pay me back. Sincerely, Larry Cooperman and a long-time customer.

Basically I ended up here as it was the only place that had rooms on this given night seeing I didn't have a car at the minute due to it catching fire a few hours earlier it was here or outside in the dust. So I spent two days here in what I'm going to say is one of the better of the run down hotels you will find in this area I say this as I walked pretty much up and down the street this is on and everything else just didn't look as chill as this one so I'm glad I picked the Maple instead of what else was around. You already know what type of hotel this old dated and kinda dirty but it definitely beat the street so I was somewhat happy to be here. The room was old my bed wasn't too bad I didn't see any signs of bugs or super dirty places the room I was in wasn't super bad let's just say I wouldn't go out of my way to stay here again but it defiantly better than other places but that's not saying much. Once I checked in the owner lady was super nice and friendly as well as totally accommodating for what the room was. Basically it had an older tv which had a good amount of channels a fridge microwave and that's pretty much it. Overall this hotel could use a lotta work but it is what it is let's just say only stay here if you have to and you'll be all good. My rating reflects comparing this to the street and the other run down hotels which I passed on my walks around this town which really didn't make this so bad but my stay could be super different from yours so you roll the dice either way!

The lady then tried telling me that the door locks... The door does not lock... She then at that point continue to try to calm me down as I continue to tell her that there is no way of locking the door from the inside. With her response being "you can only get into the room with a key." As a female for starters, if the door does not lock from the inside that's scary I think for anyone! To charge almost $90 a night with a door that doesn't lock. I'd rather sleep in my truck... I will not be coming here again... They won't refund me... As it's a "no refund" location. They wouldn't even move me to another room.

The place is sketchy, there was a sign at the check in regarding the crime in the area and that they will turn in anyone to the police. Ok, fair enough, glad that they do this, but it might give you a clue as to what type of area you are staying in. The room was very rough looking and as you can see from my reviews, I stay at a lot of budget motels and don't usually have any major issues. The carpet was stained, there were stains on the bedding and the bathroom was in bad shape. However, my biggest issue with this motel is that I was overcharged about $12 on my bank statement. I tried to contact the motel to resolve this issue, was given the run around and flat out lied too. I finally got an e-mail from the manager, with tons of blatant typos and spelling errors, she accused me of requesting a higher category room. I can assure you I did not. I am really annoyed that they were completely unwilling to refund the $ and I had to contest this with my bank. My bank has since refunded my $, but why did this motel have to fraudulently overcharge my credit card? I would HIGHLY recommend avoiding this Red Roof Inn for all travel. If you DO stay here be sure to check your credit card statement after your departure.
