Poor patch job
Logan M.

This hotel could be renovated and make lots of money. Instead they do not care about the interior and only using the parking lot to park cars. DO NOT STAY unless it's a last resort. The first room they put me in, the door wouldn't even shut properly OR lock. The second room they put me in has holes in the walls, a mechanic cloth for a wash cloth, bathroom door with no handle, a TV in which half the channels did not work. It's a shame a business is like this, especially being so close to Newark Liberty.

Would literally give this place 0 stars if I could. As soon as we walked into reception there was a strong sh*t smell. Dude upfront helped us out and gave us our door keys and room number. Getting into out room we immediately noticed the uncleanliness, we noticed bugs on the pillows and roaches on the walls. Door lock didn't close (really sketchy area). Toilet wouldn't even flush, tables was "fixed" by adding folded paper underneath. Please add a few extra bucks and stay in a place that's worthy!!!

This is such a bad motel not wort 135 bucks horrible room

Tuesday, my flight from San Francisco to Newark was delayed 3 hours and I missed my connecting flights from Newark to Lome, Togo, Africa then Lagos, Nigeria, Africa. THANKS ALOT ALASKA AIRLINES. The next flights were not leaving from Newark to Africa until another two days.  Expedia KINDLY made the room reservation at the Motel 6 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. SMH.  They did have a shuttle to pick me up at my terminal.  He arrived within 10 minutes.  He gets 5 stars!!! Management at this place OUGHT TO BE ASHAMED of themselves.  Like The Grinch... The three words that best describe this dump are as follows, and I quote: "Stink" "Stank" "Stunk"!!!!!! Room 103 NEEDS SOME SERIOUS HELP!!!. Fire detector: Not working Carbon Monoxide detector: Not working Phone: Not working I do not know why they just didn't remove the broke-down dresser. Every drawer was broken....including the damn handles....decoration I guess. The shower head was broken. Turned on the shower and water shot clear across the room. Could've put an eye out. The door is NOT secure at all. I could look straight through the door frame. This 32° chill came right through the door all night....both nights. The second day I went to the front desk and told them that I didn't need housekeeping. I guess she didn't get the message. She walked straight in the room AND THE TOP SECURITY LATCH DIDN'T EVEN WORK. How safe is that? Whodini said, "The freaks come out at night." Apparently, so do the BEDBUGS at this joint. I woke up in the middle of the night and found bedbugs on the sheets. Hell....if they were going to join me....I wish they would've went half on the room. Avoid this dump. SMH Happy Holidays All!!!!

My family and I stayed at this infested death trap, the rooms are loaded with bedbugs, roaches and flies. People pay to stay here while night walkers aka junkies get to sleep at your door after hell raising all night. When I try to explain why my stay was not good I was told take it up with management. REALLY!!!!!! How about I call corporate and the health department to shut this place down and get my damn money back. I don't live with bedbugs I don't have them in my home and don't wish to bring them home. Stay in your car it's safer to sleep and a cheaper bill along with your sanity.

This place is the worst. Booked and paid on Expedia before coming. When I arrived, it went from 'you don't have anything booked' to 'we don't have any rooms'. Eventually, I got a room. A room with no microwave, fridge or lamps. The bathroom is in dire need of being repaired by a professional. The ceiling has water spots everywhere and the floor is warped and uneven. They didn't complete my check in and tried to give the room I was sleeping in away at 1am. The area is unsafe in general but, with all the people coming in and out of rooms and hanging out in the parking lot, I would advise not going out alone. There is always someone in the parking lot screaming no matter what time of day All in all, you get less than what you pay for here

The one star I have assigned means this place met my low expectations. We just needed a place to sleep on our weekend jaunt to visit dear friends and we weren't disappointed. (Any more than we expected to be.) The poor customer service at check-in was the harbinger of a disappointing stay ahead for us. Having just found out that the hotel offered military discounts, I asked to switch the reservation to my name and the clerk was unwilling to change it. I didn't realize it at the time, but it was a brilliant maneuver to ensure we wouldn't be back in the future. On another positive note, we got the biggest room (nothing big about it except the exceptional amount of dirty fingerprints all over the walls and the doors). Once inside, our eyes feasted on what could only be described as a train wreck. The smoke detector looked like it had been forcibly removed (I presume bc it was a "smoking" room. ). My other thought was that it was a training amenity for anyone wanting to become either a terrorist or an electrician. Next, I looked up and saw drooping ceiling tiles. I'm fairly certain that it's not a new design trend in hotel room decor, but you never know. I was a bit concerned about it falling on me overnight. Then, there was also a huge, sloppy repair patch on the wall; I recognize I'm no Bob Vila, but I think I could have done better. The management added a unique feature to one of the beds, which to their credit I've never before seen outside of a child's room. It was a plastic mattress protector, which made rolling around extremely noisy and conjured wild images of bed bugs and urine. I would say overall that the hotel did not disappoint. It would be a great place to host a realistic escape room game or a crime scene.

We got the Corner 2 Double Bed room which was very nice and clean but unfortunately did not have a corner window/Layout! We where in the center of the hallway! But it's alright! Bathroom was also very nice, bright lit mirror, nice water pressure as well. The only thing is that there was no Tempered glass shower, that's becoming the standard in modern hotels. A great thing though was the airport shuttle. It was super quick and efficient! I highly recommend for a great stay at Newark airport!

I did have a refrigerator in my room, but a friend had to request one. While I was here, I reported standing water in the tub while in use twice. While the engineers were called, I gave up after the 3 time with standing water (so much eww). I also had the space above the tub start leaking - they fixed it the very next day, and removed $50 that night for my trouble (I declined to move, as I was there for a week, and had a lot of stuff.) No adjustments were made for the standing water. There were a few very lovely people staffing the hotel, including the shuttle drivers (5 stars there!) but also a few that were less lovely. When we went down to breakfast the first time (no free breakfast here), although the sign said to "please seat yourself," when our group attempted to do so, we were stopped, sent back to the front, only to be sat 7 minutes later at the exact table we tried to sit at. It was an experience for sure, but one I'm not eager to repeat.

The front desk was made aware I had already called once 42 minutes prior. I was told they'd let the driver know I was there. It was another 25 minutes before the van came, and he didn't stop at door 3 he went past door 3 to door 4. Once I got to the hotel I was told by the front desk they had no rooms available and it would be 2 1/2 hours before a room might be ready. It ended up being right at the 2 1/2 hours waiting for a room to be ready. The people at the front desk were nice and apologetic about it but still it was a bit of a pain and I wasn't the only one waiting. Credit where credit is due - The free breakfast in the mornings is good and the 2 ladies working it were very nice and kept things very neat and cleaned up.

They provided Dove lotion, hand wash and body wash. They provided AMPLE towels, toilet papers. I had a King Size bed that was very comfortable. The AC worked properly. Showers and floors were clean. The lobby is huge. The Breakfast hours was a good time from 6 - 10am. Eggs, bagels, muffins, Chobani yogurts, fruits. Sometimes they had bacon and turkey bacon so that was nice. Cereal. Orange Juice. Apple Juice. Water. It was a good buffet style. There's also a menu, in the room, to order food as well. You could NOT hear any outside noise and many TV channel options. Close to the highway and across from the airport. Many restaurants in the area. Mall nearby. It was a nice stay.

Unfortunately, if the flight gets in late, there are not many food options in the surrounding area (none that are open late). We stay here often because it is a good location for all the places we have to go to in New York and New Jersey. The airport shuttle makes catching a train into NYC really easy. The only issues I had with it was that the parking lot was always full and spaces so difficult to find that people were leaving their cars anywhere they could find a spot behind the arm. It does not make the daily cost of parking worth it if there is always that fear of there not being any spaces available. The other issue is that every single plane from EWR can be heard in the room. We've been in hotels in flight paths where you wouldn't know there was a aeroplane overhead unless you happen to look out the window and see one taking off or landing.

Having stayed at Embassy Suites several times before, the overall experience--rooms, breakfast, and amenities--was as expected: solid and reliable. What really stood out during this stay, however, was the service. Alejandro and Grant were both excellent--friendly, attentive, and genuinely service-minded. Alejandro in particular went above and beyond to make sure our stay was as comfortable as possible, which made a real difference. The hotel itself is still in good shape, with well-maintained interiors and comfortable room furnishings. The location is also a big advantage. While it's close to the airport, there's also a large outlet mall nearby, along with an arcade, bowling alley, and several dining options--great for both adults and kids. One of the biggest benefits compared to staying in Manhattan is avoiding the hassle of traffic and expensive parking. From the hotel, it's about a 20-25 minute drive to the Holland Tunnel, making access to the city surprisingly easy. A nice bonus was the evening reception--snacks and drinks served by a very kind and attentive bartender and staff, which added to the overall positive experience. The only downside during our stay was that the pool was closed, which was a bit disappointing as it would have helped burn off some of the kids' energy. That said, it's a minor drawback compared to everything else the hotel offers. Overall, a very convenient and comfortable stay with excellent service. I would definitely consider staying here again.

Pros: The hotel itself is pretty good. My first time using digital key and I loved it. The hotel…read moreroom was clean and had a good floor plan. I loved that I could slide a barn door to close in the bedroom if needed. My room was close to elevator and the clean supply room so I was a little worried about outside noise. Although I only stayed over on a Monday night even without ever closing the bedroom door it was very quiet. I had a small issue with somehow dropping my phone down into the ice machine (horror) but maintenance was very responsive and quickly got it back for me. Housekeeping was very friendly. Front desk was ok, although I feel like they could have anticipated or understood my question better when I asked about hotel shuttle. They have a sign stating where the shuttle picks up. I asked about it but they just said that it was coreect, so then I made an an attempt to find the location on the sign. When I got back to the elevator and realized it didnt go down or anywhere that might be a level cars would park or etc. I went back and asked where to find the location. They said it was where the shuttle picked up at the airport. Then is said where does it pick up here. They asked when did I need it. I said now. They said ok they would add me to a list. So #1. Why would someone checking out of the hotel need to know where the airport shuttle picks up passengers at the airport. And even if that is useful information, shouldn't it also inform where or what is needed in order to get picked up at hotel. Specifically this would seem important if the check in line was long. #2 He never answered my question about where the shuttle picks up at hotel. Once i realized the shuttle sign was useless, I assumed it picked up outside the doors and it did but this entire exchange made me feel like I was an inconvenience rather than a customer. Cons: breakfast had no flavor. I'm not expecting a lot from a free breakfast but usually the flavorless eggs have cheese or something you can add to the top to give it a little something. The vanilla pancake topped with whip cream and strawberries was ok but again very little flavor. Plus not something I could eat had I been on a hurry or had an early flight out. Other Hampton breakfasts do a little better job. Maybe Monday's are just not busy enough to warrant more.

I was denied extra pillows despite explaining it was due to a medical need (something I've never been denied at any Hilton property before). The room's AC unit was extremely loud, constantly turning on and off throughout the night, making it nearly impossible to sleep. When I called the front desk, I was told they were at capacity and there was no one available to address it. The most concerning issue was the airport shuttle. It was overbooked by the hotel, and I was actually asked to let another guest sit in my lap during transport. That's not just uncomfortable--it's unsafe and completely unacceptable. When I contacted the hotel manager afterward to request a refund under Hampton's satisfaction guarantee, I was dismissed, told to "get over it," and the call was ended. I've stayed at Hampton Inns for years and have always had good experiences, which made this especially disappointing. Issues can happen anywhere, but the lack of resolution and professionalism here was the bigger problem.

From breakfast burritos, bagels and eggs to burgers, wings, bar snacks, sandwiches and salads, you really don't need to leave the hotel for food very often. Rooms are clean, as housekeeping staff is very personable and attentive throughout every day. The Bistro, front desk and bar staff are PHENOMENAL.
