My fiance and I wanted a short weekend away without breaking the bank, and Motel 6 was the most affordable place to rest our heads in this area. The reviews were a bit off-putting but we decided to give it a shot anyway.
PROS:
-Front Desk woman was very kind, friendly and informative
-Room was CLEAN. I have OCD and was very worried about the room not being to my standards. Other than some burn marks from curling irons etc on the bathroom vanity, the room smelled clean, the mattress and bed linens were fresh and clean, and everything else was completely dust-free. Plenty of clean towels were in the room as well and the shower and toilet were spotless.
-We were given an option of which floor we'd like our room to be on.
-Location. There is a McDonalds/Burger King just feet away as well as a Shell Station with a Dunkins inside, so no worry about grabbing coffee or breakfast/gas/snacks etc. It's also very close to Burlington and much more affordable than the hotels directly in Burlington.
CONS:
-Most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on in my entire 32 years of being alive. It was very, very uncomfortable and my fiance and did not sleep well.
- Wi-Fi is not free, which I found ridiculous.
-Water pressure is horrible. The sink spits out barely more than a trickle of water. Shower is a bit better but still pretty bad.
-ZERO amenities. Just...nothing. They do serve coffee in the lobby for a short period of time and have a vending machine in the lobby as well. The only amenity in the room was a small bar of soap. No shampoo/conditioner which is a bummer because I rarely want to bring my huge bottles of products with me on vacation. There's no blow dryer. There's no mini fridge which I was fine with at first until we realized we had leftovers from dinner we couldn't take back with us. Our room also had no drawers or places to put clothing- Just a few hangers on a pole, so if you're going to be staying for more than a couple days, make sure you're OK with leaving all your stuff in your bag.
-LOUD. I was told quiet hours started at 10, however our room was the last one at the end of the first floor hallway, meaning we were next to the door that lead to the stairwell, as well as next to the door that lead outside to the side of the building. Not only were doors SLAMMING all night long from people going out to smoke, but there were people in the hallways talking loudly LONG after "quiet" hours and it's so echo-y in there that it felt like they were right in the room with us. Also, this is a pet friendly hotel which is great, but expect barking dogs randomly throughout the day and evening. The loudness along with the super-uncomfortable bed made for an incredibly restless night. We honestly would have slept better in our car.
Overall:
It's not an awful place if you're looking for somewhere that is clean and affordable for maybe a night or two. I would not recommend staying here longer than that. Request a room that isn't near an exit/stairwell or you'll be hearing doors slam all night. Bring a blow dryer and shampoo/conditioner, body wash etc. Bring your own pillows and maybe snacks and things that don't need refrigeration. The beds are terrible, but if you're one of those people who can sleep on pretty much anything, you should be fine. We probably won't be staying here again but my number one concern with hotels is cleanliness, and I was very pleased with how clean everything was here- if that is also your major concern, you should be happy with Motel 6. read more
