Stayed here during a business trip. The pictures looked great. The front desk staff were hit or miss. I needed to extend my trip a few days and a woman at the front desk (whose name I'll refrain from mentioning) said I'd have to move to a different room if I wanted to stay and keep the same rate. I could tell she was new at the time and had no concept of hotel "hospitality." I moved to the new room and promptly advised my finance department to remove the hotel from the list of approved accommodations when staying in Burlington. Again, the rooms look great in pictures but the walls were paper thin and there was a huge gap under the room's entrance door - so much so I could see people's shadows walking by at night. The bed was not comfortable either. Given how much the room(s) cost, it is not worth it. The value just isn't there. read more

Been to Burlington quite a few times, but this was my first time at Hotel Vermont. Probably I had enjoyed breakfast at Juniper, and drinks in the bar area. Front desk was very nice, and fun to interact with. What a gorgeous, unique hotel. It's Vermont to it's core, and just gorgeous. Lots of unique touches that make it even better. Juniper has delicious brunch, everyone in my party got the blueberry pancakes with bacon and loved them. I tend to always get eggs, they were cooked perfectly, plus they allowed me to substitute beautiful sliced tomatoes for sourdough toast. Service was amazing. We also enjoyed some cocktails in the bar, ask for Kate if she's around, she's a superstar. As for the room, beds are so comfortable, the pillows too! Loved the bathroom tiles, only complaint is please please please for the love of all that's holy, use better lighting in bathrooms or add makeup mirrors! This goes for all hotels lol! Water stations and coffee on each for, plus readily available ice bag for your bucket. Nice touch! The fitness center is well equipped for it's size, yoga room, several machines, bench, lots of weights, plus two treadmill and two peleton. read more

This review is for their bar / entertainment area. We visited the bar multiple times on our visit. We also had a company hosted event one night. The food was much better than I would normally expect from a hotel catered event. Bar is fully stocked. My biggest compliments are for Nylah, Colin and Kate. Kate: makes great drinks, fantastic personality, enjoyed being her customer Colin: friendly and helpful Nylah: during a busy event, knew I was looking for a specific appetizer, and she ensured that she brought one over to me and a coworker. Cute, modern property in center of Burlington, just a few steps behind the Hilton (Hotel Champlain), next to a Marriott something and easily the best of all three. Nice decor/ambiance which gives you a strong Vermont feel, not just a generic could-be-anywhere conference hotel. Very comfortable beds. Coffee stations with a fresh-brew machine and both sparkling and flat water on each floor, possibly more than 1 per floor, not sure. I had a lovely room and generally enjoyed the experience. Cons: (1) I got a $20 parking ticket because the parking garage adjacent to the hotel is a city of Burlington public lot and I forgot to put my dash pass on the car (it's irritating to have to go right back to your car the second you arrive), (2) they need to change the coffee stations to somehow get rid of the perma-smell of burnt coffee they emit. Service in the restaurant varied from decent to very good. Breakfast was solid, for dinner, I personaly found the menu a bit constrained, maybe add 1-2 more classical standard dishes if you're not up for gnocci as opposed to regular (wheat) pasta or rabbit pot pie as opposed to turkey or chicken read more

I absolutely love staying at Hotel Vermont. I've stayed here various times and have only had outstanding experiences. The hotel itself is beautiful. Perfect location-walking distance from everything in town. Some rooms even have a lake view. The front desk attendants are so friendly and helpful. The restaraunt downstairs Juniper, is wonderful and open for breakfast and dinner. They also have a rooftop hangout area and fitness center. Each floor has a hot water, tea, and coffee station which is very high quality. Gourmet tea bags and beans freshly ground. The beds in the rooms are very comfortable and the shower pressure is perfect. I love their soaps and lotions they put in the rooms. This is probably the best hotel in Burlington. I actually rather liked this place, with a couple weird complaints. First of all, it was my first trip to Vermont in May of 2024 because I am looking to GTHOO New York. Sick and tired of it. Checking in and out were both seamless. When I arrived, I asked the concierge for some dive bars to go because I wanted to meet people who could offer me genuine insights to the city. The concierge obliged. He didn't disappoint. Generally speaking, hotels are hotels. I think that spending too much on a hotel is stupid given that, when traveling, unless you're a weirdo, you ought not be spending much time in the hotel and you ought to be spending time in the place you're visiting. This place met the balance. Reasonably priced but a rather nice place. The best part? The curtains in my room opened up on Lake Champlain. It was beautiful and peaceful. It also "dotted the 'i'" as to why I fell in love with Burlington and will likely be the next place I live. The only bad thing? I wanted a diet coke one evening. No soda machines in the entire hotel. I went to the front desk, and they said I could go to the "canteen" to get something to drink. What was the canteen? It was a little room off the front desk with "snacks" and "drinks" available at an extreme mark up. At about 10:00 at night they offered me what they had left. Red bull. So...at 10:00 pm my only option was Red Bull. Small as it was, that's a pretty major fail. The next time I VISIT Burlington, I will stay here. I will just bring my own drinks. read more

We checked in to Hotel Vermont on a Sunday for an overnight stay. The lobby and accompanying seating area & fireplace screamed Modern Vermont. Check in was smooth and simple. We went back to our car which we parked in the public garage attached to the hotel and moved out of temporary parking and got our bags. It was nice to be able to go in and out of the garage all day without stopping every time. I don't have any pictures of the room, but they were very nice and at the same time pretty small. The bed was a 5 out of 5 with great mattress, pillows and sheets. I would have liked a little more counter space in the wash room area which was separate from the toilet area. Coffee bars on each floor was a great idea as we were able to get going slowly in the morning while enjoying a complimentary Coffee. The fresh fruits (apples) were rotten, so watch out for that. Loves that they had a bar onsite and we enjoyed some beverages there. Price was a little high for what you get, but I would stay there again. read more

I stayed here for a conference I was in town for. The hotel is very cute and for the most part the staff are very nice and helpful. I was little surprised how limited the space in the room was - the closet is very tiny and my dresses when hung still pulled at the bottom of the closet and wrinkled but it wasn't a big deal. I unfortunately had a view of a parking lot but I had a group rate from the conference so I couldn't complain. For what they typically charge for a night I think the hotel is lacking a little. There's not many amenities. While at first I was excited by the coffee bar in the hall way I was very disappointed it was a keurig since they are so unsustainable and this hotel supposedly prides itself on sustainability. Getting fully dressed to get coffee that I wanted to enjoy in bed was a little inconvenient but not the biggest deal. Overall it's a nice hotel in a great location. read more

Classy and refined, not full of plaid even though there is a woodpile wall in Juniper's, the attached bar and restaurant. Loved having a coffee bar on each floor. Upgrade to a room with a view otherwise you'll be overlooking a parking lot, and my goodness, having your morning coffee perched on the in-room window seat looking at the light dance upon Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks is worth the extra price. Great hotel! We have stayed at the Hotel Vermont 3 times now. It's the only place we'll stay in Burlington! The hotel has a comfortable and cozy vibe, it's dog friendly and is so close to everything! The dog friendly aspect is huge for us as 2 out of 3 times we've brought our pup along! She loves the hotel and is comfortable with us leaving her in the room if we go somewhere she can't. The dog friendly rooms are on the second floor. We've never been bothered by barking or anything like that so no need to worry about noise on level 2. The location is fantastic. Being a 5 minute walk to the waterfront or 5 minutes in the other direction to Church Street is super convenient when on vacation. We park the car in the garage attached to the hotel and walk everywhere! Juniper, the restaurant inside the hotel, is a great spot to grab a bite or a drink! They have a lovely outdoor area for the warmer months with comfortable seating and umbrellas. Hen of the Wood, on street level just steps from the hotel, is delicious, but be sure to make a reservation! Thank you, Hotel Vermont, for being our home whenever we visit Burlington! read more

I had a lovely stay at Hotel Vermont. Nice room, great dinner, excellent staff all around. It was the first time I was at a hotel that had a coffee bar on each floor. What a great idea. It sounds minor but it's brilliant. In the morning you don't have to make your own coffee in your room in some flimsy plastic coffee maker, and nor do you have to be fully presentable to go down to the restaurant for coffee. You just walk down the hall in your pjs, get a nicely brewed coffee with real half and half in a real mug, grab a piece of fruit or whatever they have there, and head back to your room for a leisurely morning before heading to the official breakfast downstairs. I wish every hotel had this feature. Plus, this hotel is refreshingly modern but still earthy and cozy, not playing into the cringy bed and breakfast saccharine cutesiness that is so common in Vermont. read more

I only stayed here for a few brief hours on a work trip but I loved the aesthetic of the hotel. The lobby was fun and inviting with a puzzle on one wall that patrons had started putting together that others could continue working on at leisure. As I got up to the floor my room was on there was a wonderful coffee bar and it smelled heavenly!!!!! I am a sucker for a good cup of coffee. The rooms were quaint and had the most open layout I had ever seen in any hotel I had ever stayed at and let's just say that the travel industry is my business so I am extremely impressed. I really loved the layout and the cherry on the cake was the lounge chair. This room was perfect for me as a solo traveler. Highly recommend for business travelers. read more

My family and I were really let down by our stay. The main issue is poor value. Our rooms were expensive. They were fairly spacious but notably poorly outfitted for a rooms in this price range. It felt as if they were going for cabin-in-the woods or for a high-end hostel vibe. The staff was pleasant, but there may not have been enough of them. They don't bring your luggage to your room. They don't clean your room every day. The lobby has a centrally-placed bike rack. You can borrow one. It's not really decorative, and there is always dirt on the floor around it. For $500 a night, breakfast should be included, not a smattering of slim jims or beaten-up fruit. Would it hurt to provide a few Q Tips or a shower cap? How about some USB charging outlets, a second phone, or a clock set to the right time? How about overhead lights, LED bulbs in the lamps, so they can shed some light, rather than the dim CFL's. How about exhaust vents in the bathrooms? How about drawers for belongings? There are separate showers and toilets in our rooms, but they have sliding doors that no longer slide very well. The bed was very high, and, if you are vertically-challenged, good luck! We asked for a step stool and were brought a shower seat. Useless and unsafe. This ho(s)tel may be a good match for some travelers, but it was not good for us. When asked how our stay was at checkout, my wife told the manager, who went a long way toward making it right. Just came home from a delightful two night stay at The Hotel Vermont. Unless you are looking for one of their suites, I recommend a corner king room with a view of Lake Champlain and the mountains beyond. Super comfortable bed, and well-appointed, easy to use furnishings. The common coffee, tea, water, and fresh fruit station on each floor is a much better way to provide this amenity than machines in each room. Juniper, the in-house restaurant and bar, serves a relatively limited menu, but the food was well-presented and very delicious. There are several restaurants on either side of the hotel: less than a minute's walk. Above average service and care by all the hotel's employees. We strongly recommend The Hotel Vermont. A group of friends went to Burlington for a 40th birthday. We stayed somewhere else but went here for breakfast the next morning. It was fantastic!!! Mimosas were so tasty ( 3 different kinds) and the coffee was smooth. As you can see from the pics, the presentation was beautiful, but it was backed up by taste. Gorgeous boutique hotel ... They paid attention to every little detail to make guests' experiences special. It's an upscale experience of Vermont. The entire hotel is a work of art - Mid-Century modern meets farm house. Cool and laid back experience while maintaining a high level of service. I've been wanting to stay at Hotel Vermont since observing their breaking ground while staying at the neighboring hotel, Courtyard Marriott. The latter is definitely more affordable, but we treated ourselves to a night here, and it was well worth it. I have yet to find another hotel offering cloud-like fluffy pillows and powerful water pressure in their showers. We loved the feel of the hotel, the social bar area flowing out to the deck and park area, the close proximity to Church St., and the rooms were furnished and detailed so beautifully "Vermont," e.g., pails for ice buckets, burlap bag for hair dryer, milk jugs for water, etc. They offered high quality amenities - organic toiletries, a communal service station on every floor, clean fitness center, yoga classes ($15), meeting rooms, two restaurants, and bicycles for rent at $10/hr. We (friend, her young adult daughter, and I) were psyched the hotel had room for us one Wednesday night not too long ago. We found our rooms to be perfect in every way, and our stay could not have been better. We had great service from Sara, Taylor, Olivia, Serena, Edita, and Max. But truthfully, all of the staff there is TOP NOTCH. They are friendly without being annoying. The location of the hotel is pretty great, obviously. Burlington is a wonderful town (despite the fact that you really have to DRIVE to get there.....where's the public transportation?!), and the Hotel Vermont is a gem of a place. read more

I showered more than average while staying at Hotel Vermont. Why? Well, the herb-infused shampoos and conditioners didn't hurt. Or the extra-hot water that I may have used too much of? (confession) Top two reasons I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Vermont: 1.) Location. Just a hop and a skip to Church Street, Lake Champlain and dozens of restaurants and shops. They also have a Juniper Restaurant in house - serving all meals. (complimentary NYTimes ;) 2.) It's the little things. Like free rental bikes, a fire place in the gathering room and large art installation behind the check-in counter created by a local artist from salvaged pieces of wood (post-Hurricane) - be certain to have them tell you more. It is a nice hotel, clean and tight. They strive to be eco-friendly which I think is awesome. There is a parking garage next door which you can self park at (and pay). The breakfast is NOT complimentary and also very expensive for what you get. My major complaint is they strive to be eco-friendly but every floor has self serve coffee makers with Keurig coffee makers. Keurig coffee makers are death to the environment. If you want to be truly eco-friendly, lose the Keurig coffee makers. Big turnoff. read more

Very cute and perfect place to spend the night. Right next to central Burlington and easy access to parking. Rooms are clean with nice wood touches to really perfect the vibe of the city and hotel. You get really nice perks including a fancy espresso machine with water and hot chocolate maker next to the elevator on each floor. At checkout we received a delicious bag of granola. We stayed three nights at the Hotel Vermont - spending some pennies to get a suite. I was disappointed. The suite was big - but it was "tired." The walls were in real need of a fresh coat of paint. "Little" things - loose outlets meant several plugs for our devices just fell out of the wall socket, bath tub drain was broken so water just pooled at your feet in the shower, several holes in our bath towels, and the "kitchenette" had no "kitchen" anything - so bring your own plates, utensils, etc. For a less expensive hotel, I might have expected this quality (lack of), but not at several hundred dollars a night. We were in a second floor suite and the only window in the place was in the bedroom but you really couldn't open the shades because of the office building across the street - so unless you wanted to put on a show for the state bureaucrats at their desks....the place was pretty dark as a result. That combined with so little lighting in the suite - meant it felt like evening...all day long. We'll probably head back to Burlington at some point, but definitely won't be staying here. read more

This eco friendly hotel was awesome with a short walk to Lake Champlain, the Burlington bike trails, and Church Street. They conserve water & energy and bring the outdoors in. Loved the sleek showers and natural wood furniture. The big window offers an awesome view of Lake Champlain. I brought my bike but they offer free bikes in the lobby for two hours. Free tea, coffee, fruit, pastries and water stations on each floor. This hotel just feels like Vermont. This is the cleanest hotel I have ever been in. Parking is not free. About a 5 minute walk to Manhattan Pizza and Pub, kind of a divey atmosphere with live music and over 20 beers on tap. read more

This is a great hotel. It goes above and beyond the regular hotel vibe that you find at the chain brands, and has its own personality. I stayed on the sixth floor, with a great view north and out across Lake Champlain. The sunsets were amazing from this vantage point. The room was tastefully decorated with lots of warm wood accents and modern colors. There was a nice window bench where you could sit and read. I really liked the Vermont flannel blanket that was rolled up on the bed when I arrived. Outside my room in the common area near the elevator was a cappuccino/espresso machine that made fantastic coffee. The coffee beans were locally roasted. This was a treat since other floors only had a one cup keurig machine, and there was a night and day difference in the quality...you definitely want the good stuff on the sixth floor. In addition to being a nice hotel, it is well located in Burlington. It was an easy walk to downtown, where you have lots of options to choose from if your looking for a drink, food, or some shopping. Its also a quick walk to the lake front trail if you are looking for a morning run. Great place to stay if you are in town. read more

With recent changes due to COVID-19, I appreciated the time and care that Sara took upon our arrival to discuss the new safety measures that Hotel Vermont has taken, particularly as we were traveling with small children. We always felt 100% safe and it was clear that all staff members were providing best-in-class service with respect to overall cleanliness and social distancing measures. The hotel itself is unique in its design and feel from the common areas to the individual rooms - a welcome change from the cookie-cutter/institutionalized decor of nearby big chain hotels. If you are traveling with family, do yourself a favor and treat yourself to one of the suites at the hotel. We recently stayed in the Mount Philo suite (named for its amazing view of Mt. Philo in Charlotte) and my son commented that he hoped we could be quarantined in the suite indefinitely. With direct views of Lake Champlain from the jacuzzi tub, I could not have agreed more. Our family will be staying at Hotel Vermont for as long as we have annual trips to Burlington.
