Michelangelo's Moses is one of those places that reminds you why Rome never runs out of surprises. You can spend days visiting famous landmarks and still stumble upon something extraordinary tucked inside a church.
The site was undergoing restoration work during my visit, so it wasn't possible to experience everything exactly as intended. Even so, seeing the sculpture in person was impressive. The level of detail is remarkable, and it's hard to believe it was carved from marble more than 500 years ago.
One thing I especially appreciated was how peaceful the space felt. Rome can be overwhelming, particularly during the warmer months, and this was a welcome place to step inside, cool off, sit quietly, and take a break from the crowds.
The fact that admission is free makes it even more worthwhile. Whether you're an art lover, a history enthusiast, or simply looking for a few moments of calm while exploring the city, it's an easy recommendation.
I'll definitely return once the restoration work is complete. read more
