The atmosphere had a subtle coziness, but the Airbnb photos made it look much more updated, renovated, and inviting than it actually was. When we arrived, it was clear the chalet was dated. For the price per night, we expected more. Right away we noticed cobwebs on the walls and ceilings, heavy dust throughout, and even dust bunnies under the main bed. The fridge was also incredibly loud--sounding like a jet engine switching on and off all night. Other issues stood out: * Towels were limited, and the ones provided had hair in them. * The bathroom faucet's water pressure sprayed everywhere, forcing us to use our already-limited towels just to clean up. * The blinds couldn't be pulled open because of old, crusted bird droppings on the outside. We understand this is the ocean, but these clearly hadn't been cleaned in a long time. * The mattresses were by far the most uncomfortable I've ever slept on--making it difficult to get any real rest. What made things more frustrating was their very strict check-in and check-out policy, which they explained was due to their cleaning crew's schedule. Normally, that would make sense, but given the lack of cleanliness we experienced, it made their "no exceptions" stance confusing. That being said, I did appreciate a few things. They were upfront in the listing about the steps leading up to the second floor, and they weren't exaggerating--they really are steep, so it was good to know ahead of time. I also appreciated some of the amenities inside the chalet, which made parts of the stay more comfortable. The chalet itself has good bones and could be a great place with better upkeep--thorough cleaning, fresher linens, updated mattresses, and a little extra care inside and out. As it stands, though, it doesn't live up to its price point. I'd be hesitant to recommend this spot without those updates and at this point would suggest checking out other options in Ocean Shores first.

First time staying at an Inn/AirBNB type place. At first, it felt strange to let ourselves into this big beautiful house and to be the only ones there. But the better half grew up going to Inns and Bed and Breakfast type places and she was all in. NICE. That is the main word I would use to sum up The Collins. Especially with how well they took care of us for our anniversary. Every little detail was thought out and taken care of. The lady who was working there while we were there could not have been better. Super nice and attentive. WE LOVED THE COLLINS. I have been going to Ocean Shores my entire life but always stayed on the main hotel strip. The Collins is on the backside of Ocean Shores and very secluded from the tourist-y parts of the town. The house is gorgeous. A huge house with so many different things in it to do right across the street from the beach. The Collins has that beautiful, awesome Ocean Shores beach aesthetic while also being a very upscale, beautiful inn. My favorite thing about The Collins [aside from the hot tub] is just how well thought out everything is. From the all day snacks and breakfast. To every little touch they add. The people who created and run The Collins are obviously big fans of this type of Inn and really worked hard to create their ultimate image of it. And you can feel that in every little detail of The Collins experience. We also liked the french toast, Starbucks egg bites and all of the things they give you for breakfast here. The pastries were my favorite but we liked everything. We were also incredibly impressed at our room fridge having some nice juice and snacky type options. The better half and I loved this experience. We had such a nice time here. The hot tub, the wine, the chocolates, the kick ass shower, the nice breakfast and snacks. If you're looking for a great experience with your special person, it's hard to think of a better option than The Collins. I've stayed in pretty much every hotel in Ocean Shores and The Collins is definitely at the top of the list if you want a nice, beautiful, relaxing, memorable experience for you and your special person.

You can walk or drive to the town and the ocean it's just down the street. This would be an excellent place for a family reunion. The clubhouse is large and well equipped with a cooking area. The pool, laundry area and bathrooms were very well kept and clean. We were in travel trailer but walked into the beautiful wooded area for tents and it was so pretty and well manicured with nicely placed sights. The park staff was very attentive delivering wood in the evening and making sure we had everything we needed. The facilities were exceptionally clean and comfortable. I liked the little extras placed in the bathroom for camper's use if needed We had such a great time and will be back for sure!

WiFi - There really is NO WiFi here. They should not advertise that they have WiFi. Bring you Starlink there is a good view of the the northern horizon. It is a quiet and clean basic park. Definitely should not be called a Resort. WiFi requires no password. Most attempts to connect to the WiFi fail. You will have to use your phone to create a Personal Hot Spot. If you do connect to the WiFi the Internet connection is slow and erratic. Most web sites timeout before you get a connection. This is ancient gear. An inexpensive mesh network with outdoor antennas would solve the problem. The front desk did not know who their internet carrier was. If the carrier is supplying any reasonable speed of 50 to 100 Mbps on a mesh network all would be usable.

We are recommending it to all our family and friends and we intend to return to stay in all the themes. The prices are fair and comparable to others in the location. Everything needed for cooking, serving, snacking and just an all-round assortment of appliances and utensil. Great location central to beach and local shopping. The password for check-in was sent via email, so we could check in at our leisure. The email contained excellent and informative guidelines about our stay as well as some personal recommendations about places to visit and food. There are 8 of them in the lot but each one is its own entity. I stayed at one of them for 3 days and 2 nights and had a really good time! The place is clean and spacious with high ceilings and can comfortably house a couple + pets. There is a pet fee and no smoking is allowed on the premises. The place had all the amenities you could need for a little getaway including a: WiFi, decently stocked kitchen, fridge, stove, oven, cable/smart TV, board games, small washer, little private patio, and one parking spot. You can easily move things around the place, I did a ton of yoga in the living room. I loved that I didn't really need to drive anywhere and could just walk everywhere. Check in is super easy and there is a lockbox for you to access your keys. As mentioned in other reviews, the stairs here are super steep and you have to use them to get to the bed. Definitely a hazard if you're not careful and trip. Overall I really enjoyed this little cottage and would recommend it for a couples getaway or a solo retreat!

I had no idea this place had a kitchen, but this allowed me to save some money by having a meal in the room. There is a grocery store located very close. I also really appreciated the bathroom amenities which included a toothbrush and toothpaste which is not something I recall seeing in a hotel anytime in recent years. There's a large grass area out front which children were playing in and people were walking their pets. There's a covered structure that looked ideal for spending time outside in the colder/wetter weather. There's a bar with good food to the left, a brewery with pizza up the road to the right and a Mexican place across the road.

Once you get to the place (very bright and well lit, with bright sea green doors - you can't miss it) your door has as a touch screen pad that appears only upon touch. We appreciated all the thoughtful touches that make this place a very comfortable stay. Only thing is their local water supply (which is out of their control) has a slight oceany smell to it. Combined with the lovely coconut paradise scented shampoo, ocean breeze shower gel, and floral lei conditioner, you kind of come out smelling like a mermaid.
