I have suffered lower back, hip pain and sciatica for over 10 years with little to no relief. I live in Silver Spring and Rockville area. After reading reviews from others i tried Moss Chiropractic and Wellness. Holy Cow!!! One month into treatments and I am virtually pain free. The staff is kind, courteous, professional and accommodating. My husband and I both have years of significant abnormalities in the neck, spine and lumbar vertebrae. The staff carefully evaluated us both and have us on our individual unique therapeutic regimen including stretching and hands on adjustments. Three weeks later we are both walking with significantly diminished pain and celebrate knowing we don't have to live in constant pain and suffering. The Olney location is extremely easy from Rockville or Silver Spring areas. Parking is plentiful and free in a central location. Best experience ever! read more

I went to this practice as I wanted to change chiropractor . The first visit was nice but I did not really understand I had to pay all the treatment out of pocket . Dr G.Moss showed me a document saying that I had to pay 250 dollars out of pocket for xray she had to do but i was under the impression that the rest would be covered by my insurance . she said I had to come back the next day to review the results and go over a treatment plan . I went the next day after work and she showed me the xrays and told me what was wrong ( i already knew it as I had an recent MRI of my neck). To make it short , she then pulled a treatment plan and showed the price and gave me a contract to sign . the first part of the treatment was over 3000 dollars out of pocket . I did go to two other chiropractors in the past and it was covered by my insurance I felt that I was being sold something that could have been covered entirely by my insurance . I was so uncomfortable that I said that I had to think about it but I wanted to warn others not to believe anything this person says ,she acts like a car sales person in order to make you pay for something other do for a fraction of the price . Several years ago I went to Moss Chiropractic after the front desk stated they accepted by insurance (which they do not). The entire experience is one big sales pitch. Once I said I only need a couple adjustments they walked me back to tell me I need to pay thousands of dollars for so many treatments. The last time they did not even adjustment me and just used a device for 10 seconds and then charged me. I would not fall for the sale pitch. In case it helps, my credit card records show a charge from the organization at the time of my visit. The charge was for optional x-rays, not covered by insurance, taken there to evaluate my case. I started bringing my mother to Moss after she experienced a bout of sciatica. She had gone to her general practitioner for help but they only gave her a diagnosis and told her to take Tylenol for the pain. This did nothing to help! After a friend suggested trying a chiropractor I immediately scheduled an appointment with Moss (since they had helped relieve my migraines years ago). After the first appointment the pain subsided considerably! To be clear the pain did not magically disappear. But after paying attention to her postures and making adjustments where needed paired with regular adjustments her pain is practically gone after having been completely unbearable! The staff has been encouraging and friendly. They have all genuinely cheered on her progress and seem personally invested in her success and relief. Their focus on not only bringing you relief but educating you as to what causes your pain helps insure that you eradicate the pain from within instead of just medicating the symptoms. I called the office and the front desk answered. I asked her how much an adjustment costs. She asked if I am a new patient. I said yes I am and she said there is a free consultation and an regular office visit is $50. I set up an appointment and arrived. The chiropractor, I believe it was Gabriela started going through the exam then said I'd need xrays taken for an initial visit in order to get an adjustment. I go to chiropractors all the time as I told her and she could see that I am very healthy. I wasted my time going in there as she would not adjust me without paying the $120 for xrays. She didn't have the common courtesy to say she was sorry for for her employee making that mistake and not telling me that information before I visited. My belief is it was just a ploy to make more money with xrays because she could see that I am a very healthy person and only needed an adjustment to get back in alignment. I would advise you to reconsider before going. She was all about making a big sales pitch too. I've gone to chiropractors for 25 years and they are obviously more interested in making money than helping people with their physical ailments. Questionable integrity for sure. In response to Dr. Moss's comment below, again, still no apology or recognition that her staff was not knowledgeable to fully inform potential clients of the mandatory xray charges if they would like to receive any kind of chiropractic adjustment as this was clearly stated by Dr. Moss to me. She told me that all clients must have xrays prior to getting an adjustment and the cost for xrays is $120. These days, insurance rarely covers anything, so it directly translates into a client paying for it. Sometimes a simple apology can go a long way but in this situation, not. read more

I cannot echo the other 1 star reviews enough. The entire experience is one big sales pitch. As someone who has worked in sales, I know all of the tactics when I see them. Here are some that were used, to name a few: 1. Pressuring people into scheduling multiple follow-ups 2. Getting the person to repeat the word "yes" in their head 3. Making the first appointments very long so the patients feel obligated into coming back 4. Signing excess papers; making the patient read/hold pamphlets They indicated that there were multiple options for treatment, but of course they forced me into signing up for 3 appointments per week. They did not even give me a moment to breathe before forcing me into a 2-month program. So, although they say there are multiple options, they never ask you which option you would prefer. I expressed that I didn't want a test done because it was $90 out of pocket and Dr. Ray rudely said to me, "well you don't even understand why we're doing the test." In that moment, I knew all they wanted was to suck money out of people and their insurance providers. The worst part is, I told them I wanted to buy a pillow from them, but they were so focused on forcing me into appointments and unwanted tests, it never occurred to them to sell it to me. Since writing this review, in efforts to make amends, the doctors called and repeatedly told me I did not understand their treatment plan (keep in mind I sat through 2 hours of explanation on the treatment plans), and they attributed my negative reaction to their business practices to my young age (I am in my mid-twenties). read more

I give 4 stars for the actual manipulations and thoroughness of these Drs., however, I feel very very pressured by them into coming in 2-3 times per week every time I go in there, hence 3 stars overall rating -- who has that kind of time these days? I certainly don't and when I say I don't have time I get a "what's going on?" Like they are going to convince me that going to their office is more important, lol!......AND, funny enough...THEY have short hours on Friday's and are NOT open Saturday....LOL!!! But yet, patients are supposed to Commit to getting in there during the week 2-3 times per day?! Great chiro care for the most part and the Drs. are pretty thorough, but again, for those of us that work full time with busy busy lives, we cannot get on board with the 5 or so week chunks of time that require 2-3 visits per week for hours of treatment. I am SO happy I did NOT go for the up selling and gimmicks and do not do the stretching and all the other stuff in there. I am sure it all works for some, however you'd literally have to be RETIRED to be able to get on board with their schedule. I do NOT like the "modules" they make you do - chunks of time commitment that cost a certain amount / require even more money - not cool. It needs to be WAY more simpler in order to retain patients. I personally will not be going back there and am currently looking for another more SIMPLE Chiro Office with better hours to accommodate MY schedule, not the Drs.! read more

Before going to Moss Chiropractic and Wellness, I suffered from hip/groin pain for many years. A recent fall exacerbated the pain; the orthopedic doctor X-rayed me and sent me on my way with a pain script. A month later, my pain level was worsening to a level of 8-9. The constant pain disrupted every aspect of my life. I finally called Moss Chiropractic and Wellness of Olney on Monday morning and the friendly staff scheduled an appointment for me that afternoon. My pain went from a level 8-9 all the way down to a pain level of 1-2 within a few hours after my first appointment. Moss chiropractic strikes that perfect balance of professionalism and personal connection. Drs. J and G are not only highly skilled and knowledgeable in their field, but they also build relationships with their, sometimes fragile, clientele. I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before going in to see them. First and foremost, they are definitely a high pressure sales office. The two appointments that I had I had to wait 25 to 30 minutes for Gabriella to appear. No apology either time. Later during the sales pitch she told me the earliest appointments they had for adjustments were at 8am which I learned from the office staff wasn't true. She also provided me with a LONG sales pitch (where she spoke to me as if I were a child and made me read aloud certain points on a laminated card!) and presented me with two "care programs" - the lesser costly one after I completely balked at the first care program. Both plans were very expensive (mind you they don't take insurance because, as Gabriella told me, "they don't work for the insurance company"). She then presented me with a payment plan that consisted of a down payment and an additional monthly payment. I felt as if I were buying a new car but was dealing with someone pushier than a car salesperson. The red flags were everywhere - the hard sell disguised as a concern for total health - the pressure was there and created a very uncomfortable atmosphere. The final red flag that really set off the alarms was when Gabriella kept pushing for me to sign a form to withdraw monthly payments from my credit card/bank account. She kept pushing it and kept saying "this way you can choose the date when you want to pay us"....uh, HELL NO. I asked her why one couldn't pay monthly or per visit without authorizing automatic withdrawals and she said they didn't accept that at all as this way was better for their bookkeeping. There is no need to lock in and pay this office 5-6k for a package of treatments that would otherwise be paid for by your insurance if you went to another practice. A few things of note: 1. Gabriella husband does the adjustments. He seemed good at what he does but the whole hard sell of treatment packages was very off putting. 2. Adjustments are done in a common area room where others are waiting and watching. Very strange. 3. The office hasn't been updated since it probably opened in the late 80s or early 90s. I get that chiropractors want to get you on a regular plan to help get you back to being aligned, etc. but there is no need to be fooled by what this practice is trying to sell and lock you into. There are great chiropractors in the area that simply want to help you and not sell you land in Florida, so to speak. And there are great chiropractors that take insurance as well. Find the good chiropractors with honest ethics. Also, of note, I see that this practice quickly replies to all negative posts on Yelp. There is no need for a response to this posting. It is what it is and I escaped with my wallet intact. I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before venturing into the practice. Lesson learned. Be warned. read more

I do not usually write reviews, but I wanted to make sure everyone knows about Moss Chiropractic and what a wonderful practice they have. If I can help others get the care they need, then I'm a happy woman! I went way too long before seeing help and wish I would have gone in sooner. You know how it goes, the mom/wife/employee always doing everything for everyone else, I had neglected myself. When the low back pain was so severe that I could barely walk and the pain was affecting my daily living, like getting in and out of the car, getting out of bed, I couldn't walk the dog or play with my son, I knew I had to seek care. I also knew that if I went to see my primary care physician that I would be told to just rest and take some advil and use ice. Believe me, I HAD been doing that, and taking way too many Advil's every day! I didn't want to hear that I was "just getting older and needed to slow down". Moss Chiropractic had helped my 12 year old son a few years ago and he made a miraculous recovery from back pain and issues with breathing/anxiety. I called Moss Chiropractic and they got me in that same day. The whole body/wellness approach they take is comforting. It is a wife/husband team approach to your wellness. Dr. G. Moss takes her time, gets to know what your issues are and begins working on the root of the cause. An actual diagnosis had been made after multiple, easy tests done within the practice. Dr. Ray will work his magic with the treatment side of things. They will make suggestions on how to do things differently in your normal, daily living (how to sit, lay in bed and drive in the car), give you exercises you can do from home and will always make time to see you when needed. Two weeks later, and I am so much better. In fact, I feel better all over, not just the low back pain which has gone from a 9 on the pain scale to a 1. Their method works and makes sense if you give them the chance to help you and follow their routine. You will be back to feeling better soon! read more

Love the Dr.'s and staff! It's been awhile since I received chiropractic care & since the traditional dr.'s only want to treat you more drugs, I decided to go back to Chiropractor and received so much needed relief. My health care insurance doesn't cover chiropractor visits so it is very costly out of pocket costs. As a pay as you go it's not to bad at $50 per visit. I did sign up for one of the packages, but it is pretty pricey. I'm hopeful the care is worth it! So far I have noticed more improvements than just going to my primary care Dr and traditional physical therapy. read more

I am convinced that the people who go here are experiencing a placebo effect or they are wishfully thinking because they don't want to feel silly for how much money they signed up to pay. A few years back, my former husband went here and I went with him for support (he had minor low back pain after slipping on ice). He went in for a three weeks of visits and was told that his genetic heart problem was a result of bones being out of place in his neck (it clearly was not). He was told that the visit would be free (it was not). He was told that the devices they use are FDA approved (they are not). They were very pushy and the staff seemed embarrassed. If Dr. Moss is fixing the cause of disease rather than the symptom (as he claimed) then what is being fixed? Why do so many people have to go back for the same problem over and over again? Ultimately his real doctor sent him for an MRI and he got some pain management injections. After some stretches and exercises, he was totally fine. He didn't need 6 months of torture chairs and back popping. read more

Very gimicky! Was very unsatisfied with the method of treatment. They are into machines and tractions. They very rearly touch you without the use of gadgets. Also they run games as far as payments... charged my card without my permission and charge for services that were not rendered. My advise is to avoid them. read more

So I will repeat what many have said the doctor himself is amazing and knows what he is doing. From the sales aspect they are the worst plus they are bad at book keeping. If you ask about payment break down so you know where everything is going ect they will turn very aggressive or just ignore you while they tend to other potential new clients. If I could I would give 5 stars for the doctor and medical care and negative stars for how the book keeping and sales is ran. Also if you are paying out of pocket or they are out of your health care network don't go it will get over priced very quickly. My insurance was out of network and covered a good part of the bills however they kept adding additional items so I just kept paying and paying. I have been to other chiropractors and never experienced such high prices even when I was a poor college student paying out of pocket. I have also never experienced such an able doctor and I am sad that I had to leave his care due to other factors mentioned. read more

I am very pleased with the care that Drs. Raymond and Gabriella Moss provided to me when I had severe back pain in August 2015. Because I could not even stand up they came to my home, did some initial adjustments, and took me to their office for further evaluation and treatment. Of all the chiropractors in Olney they were just the right ones for me at that time. They are very professional, knowledgeable, experienced, and had all the equipment necessary for my recovery. It has been wonderful to find help for my back and neck pain while getting chiropractic adjustments on a drop table instead of the usual twists, and getting other therapy that makes me feel like I've had a quick massage. The physical therapy stretches done at Moss Chiropractic also help to relieve my pain. This is a different kind of chiropractic from what I've experienced in the past, and I am definitely feeling the improvement that is occurring. I even understand now that the reason I have difficulty with balance even though I'm quite fit for my age is because of postural issues that were not obvious to the eye but definitely showed up on x-rays and other tests. Drs. Ray and Gabriella and their staff are always pleasant and helpful and encouraging. Summary: they're really great doctors and know their stuff and will be super nice and helpful but it's their practice so their also sales people. I'm editing this a year later because I just moved and finding that horrible pillow reminded me I needed to change this review. I had CHRONIC pain that was coming from nowhere after a bike ride. Didn't make sense! They fixed the issue (basically a very painful pinched nerve) and were really fantastic about it but there was a lot of upselling. I'm usually quick to turn down but I just presumed this was related to the injury so accepted. They knew my bf was helping with money but lay it ALL on me anyway; extra visits, exercise tools, this pillow etc. I now have things I don't use, and when I tried to return this fancy pillow coz it was actually hurting me, they refused. The only thing I truly loved were these orthopedics they put me onto, but VERY expensive, they sell for another company. read more

My cousin suggested I see Dr. Moss as her Chiropractor in Ohio recommended him. Even though the office is an hour away, I decided to give it a try. I am glad I did. The office is one of the best run medical offices I have ever been too. I receive comprehensive, individualized, high quality care from both Drs. Ray and Gabriella Moss along with their friendly and knowledgeable staff. I am a proponent of Chiropractic care and I believe that correcting the physical structure of our bodies is one of the best ways to keep us healthy. This is exactly the same philosophy that is practiced at Moss Chiropractic. The initial commitment of time and money (they do accept most insurance policies) can be a bit daunting but, very worth it in the long run. I look at it as preventative medicine so I won't need expensive and debilitating surgeries down the road. I came to the practice experiencing knee and hip pain and the treatment I am getting is relieving that pain as well as giving me more energy and making me feel more healthy. I went there for an initial interview which they said was free. I ended up paying for x-rays out of pocket, but they said that there would be no other charges. Then I decided not to return for the "free" review of my x-rays, because I had an uncomfortable feeling about the heavy salesmanship that the first meeting had involved. Then I noticed that my insurance was busy processing a claim from them!!! I called them to get an explanation and they promised to call me back today, but I haven't heard from them. No matter what they say, there should not have been a claim to my insurance from Moss Chiropractic, as I didn't return to them and the initial interview was advertised as free. read more
