I had not even heard of Morton roofing before I began looking for a roofer... I got bids from 2 other roofers and actually they came highly recommended also. Ryan actually measured & got up on my 2-story house and after studying my insurance papers the adjuster left...determined my insurance adjuster made almost$4000 worth of errors ...Ryan "went to bat" for me & I received that dividend! He was true to his word on everything and his crew was fast & efficient. I know there were thousands of nails that came off this roof, but they utilized a magnet & I did not see one nail out of place let alone have I had a flat tire! I have another minor potential problem with a spot on the siding which Ryan caught & had suggestions for me on how to proceed. Heavily recommended! We had some storm damage in July and sent a bid out to 5 roofing contractors. Ryan at Morton was the only one to take the time to call back a ask more details so he could get his bid right the first time without low balling only to come up with additional repairs later (sound familiar lol). Made sure he got our requirements (cheapest) while providing quality materials he believes in. He wasn't the cheapest but his customer service put him in way over the top. Its crazy some contractors where put off because you wanted to hire them and give them money. Also Ryan returns calls in a timely manner something lacking with the other contractors in my area. We had a roof replacement due to wind damage. Everyone that we dealt with was friendly and professional. Their recommendations were based on what was going to be best for the house and not just for an easy sale. They were prompt with communication and always showed up when they said they would. Excellent communication throughout the entire process. Everything went exactly as promised, with two exceptions: they finished more quickly than they said they would and our final bill was slightly less than discussed. Those are two wonderful surprises. Into each life a little rain must fall. Unfortunately for me, it was frozen at the time. So begins my journey down the road of full roof replacement. Getting one's roof replaced is one of those events where, at the beginning of the journey, you know absolutely nothing about the process, but several weeks later you are a bona fide expert offering advice to friends, family, and perhaps a few yelpers. Having just gone through the process, I would like to offer some bona fide expert advice. Let's set the stage: Here are the main players in the process: 1. Your insurance company - they will appoint a contact person for you that you use through the whole process. 2. Your mortgage company - they will control the funds that the insurance company pays to fix your roof. 3. The claims adjuster - he represents the insurance company and will look at your roof and tell you what the insurance company will pay. 4. The roofing contractor - he removes the damaged roof and replaces it with a new one while making sure the other players are doing their jobs in a timely manner. Having gone through the whole mess, I can tell you that you do not want to walk this road alone. PLEASE, OH PLEASE find yourself someone who understands all of the subtleties of the process. I chose to walk it with Ryan Morton of Morton Roofing and I am glad that I did. Here is why I can recommend Ryan: - He and his crew did an excellent job reroofing my house. - He interceded on my behalf when the adjuster made some erroneous measurements and calculations that would have cost me $800 if Ryan hadn't caught them. - He worked with my credit union and all of its byzantine rules to make sure the funds kept flowing. - He was tenacious in his efforts to maintain contact with my assigned credit union representative, who always seemed to be at lunch when I called. - He was tenacious in his efforts to have the insurance company assign a new representative to me after the first one ignored our calls for a week. - He left the yard spotless when the job was finished. - He kept me in the loop through the whole process with numerous phone calls, emails, and meetings. - He always answered his phone when I called him. - He is a nice guy. - He doesn't use profanity. - He and his crew were careful not to disturb the new little robin hatchlings that appeared under an eave just as they started the roof. Morton roofing and Ryan Morton in particular did an awesome job with a roof replacement after a windstorm took out our roof. Ryan took time to explain every step of the process and actually went to bat for us with our insurance adjuster when it looked like they had under estimated their adjustment.
