They lost his brand new clothes. When my dad transferred out to California, as our family had moved, they sent two huge picture frames of SOMEONE ELSE'S family photos out to California with him. However, they did NOT send the hand-made items that my dad had. After Dad died, I had to contact the CEO to get my dad's hand-made blanket back. Unbelievable. Additionally, when my dad moved to Cali to be near his family, Dad's fingernails were very long and caked with dirt and God knows what under them. The same was true of his toenails. At least this one in Nebraska city didn't constantly smell like feces and vomit like the one in Omaha, NE did. You cannot trust Golden Living to just take care of your loved one. If you want your loved one well-taken-care-of but can't do it at home, then you will need to visit them every day at this place and frequently let the staff know you are watching. Although Golden Living is being paid to take care of your family member, and they've agreed to provide good care for them for the price they are being paid, you cannot trust them to keep their word. He himself admits he was angry about being placed in an assisted living facility, but within a few short days he was happy. The staff went out of their way to welcome him. He feels well-cared for and respected. Everyone is welcoming and they try to accommodate any special needs he might have. During my visits, I notice consistency of care and how content other residents appear. On Easter Sunday the weather was so inclement with snow and ice that we decided to eat at Oak Pointe rather than go out. I was absolutely gobsmacked by how delicious the food was. I'm ready to move in!!!
