This cafe/restaurant is ok though the tea is a little expensive for a cuppa. The decor is pleasant. The service good and friendly.

The Harvester brand of restaurant. Good cheap pub food. Wrong. Cheap....well cheapish. If you…read moresample the 'Early Bird Menu' you get 1/3 off regular prices but are subject to a limited number of items. Other than this menu the rest is rather expensive, this is somewhat justified by the free salad bar, many people go up numerous times although I am not sure if it unlimited. Good food? When this place first opened the food was brilliant. Hot, fresh, tasty, I could not fault it. 3 months later the food tasted like a mixture of plasterboard and loft insulation, covered with balsamic dressing. I sent a dish back twice on one occassion. I wasn't being picky or anal its just that I expect things to actually be cooked before arriving on my table. I am pretty sure the chicken tried making a run for it as he was slammed down in front of me. So deciding to give the place one last chance I stupidly went there again. The food, once again was from a diy merchants so I got up and left. It wouldn't be so bad if the staff were apologetic but I think they may actually hate you. The staff who look like they run the front of house may quite possibly be servants of Lucifer who stare at you whilst you eat and delight in telling you theres a 30 minute wait for a table. The regular waiting staff don't bode well either. If I was told to deliver some of the stuff they bring out I would be depressed too but go on smile...just little bit. Its scientifically proven that smiling lifts your mood. The only thing that redeems this place. Well actually makes this place bearable is the fact it has a bar, after eating a meal I strongly recommend you get rid of the memory by drowning your sorrows in glasses of whiskey and chatting with the other patrons who like you figured out the actual restaurant was crap and made an attempt to make everything better by drowning the memory out. However don't drive home. I do not condone this in the slightest. You know what, to avoid this situation just don't go there at all, its not worth it, just chew on some actual plasterboard if you want a nice tasty treat.

My lad and I met up @HarvesterUK Talmead last night for a cheeky catch up. I have to say, the food…read morewas amazing. Lad had the Cheese and Bacon burger, omg! So glad that Harvester has developed this awesome tasting upgrade to the good old c&b burger! I had the fish n chips and mushy peas. Hand battered fish (it was a huge piece of fish too!) tastes fab. We both swapped up to sweet potato fries, and as always, these did not disappoint. Didn't do much salad as we wanted to save ourselves for our mains, but the variety, freshness and look of the salad bar was appealing. The main reason we both come to Talmead has to be the staff. We both live nearer to another Harvester in Thanet, but go out of our way to come to Talmead instead. Once again we were not disappointed. Was made to feel welcome and valued all the way through the meal. A special thanks goes to our lovely waiting staff member: Stacey. She was fun, professional and made sure we had a great experience. Overall, I would totally recommend this place to anyone, whether you're coming as a couple, a group of mates, or a family get together over dinner. Thanks guys. You rock!

East Coast Dining Room - Looking welcoming on an August bank holiday evening

Thankfully the lovely people at East Coast Dining Room welcomed us and we opted to sit outside in the cool evening air. We started with Prosecco and Elderflower cocktails and half a dozen delicious oysters. I decided on seared scallops to start, served with cauliflower purée and pickled grapes. They were so good that I was reluctant to share with my partner (it's our thing, we share) and I even refused a taste of his starter. He decided on a sirloin to start, slow roasted with a radish and tomato salad and served with a mustard cream. In a word, he described it as awesome. For our main course, I decided on pork tenderloin wrapped in prosciutto, served with aubergine purée, roast peppers and courgettes and presented on a Parmesan polenta. It was very tasty and the tenderloin was very tender and juicy indeed. I especially liked the aubergine purée. My partner chose the lemon sole, pan fried with scallop roe and seaweed butter and served with spinach and sautéed potatoes. I had a little taste and it was fantastic. All in all, the service was superb and our meal practically perfect. We will definitely return.

The staff here are honestly some of the nicest people, whether it's the managers or the waiters, always smiley and keen to make you feel at ease. When people ask for a nice place to take friends for an evening meal in and around Kent I always recommend this place, cosy great location (near the sea, so perfect to stop by after a long coastal walk) and great company. Can't recommend it enough.
