East Coast Dining Room - Looking welcoming on an August bank holiday evening

    East Coast Dining Room

It was after 8pm on a bank holiday Sunday and we were struggling to find an establishment still…read moreopen for dining. Thankfully the lovely people at East Coast Dining Room welcomed us and we opted to sit outside in the cool evening air. We started with Prosecco and Elderflower cocktails and half a dozen delicious oysters. I decided on seared scallops to start, served with cauliflower purée and pickled grapes. They were so good that I was reluctant to share with my partner (it's our thing, we share) and I even refused a taste of his starter. He decided on a sirloin to start, slow roasted with a radish and tomato salad and served with a mustard cream. In a word, he described it as awesome. For our main course, I decided on pork tenderloin wrapped in prosciutto, served with aubergine purée, roast peppers and courgettes and presented on a Parmesan polenta. It was very tasty and the tenderloin was very tender and juicy indeed. I especially liked the aubergine purée. My partner chose the lemon sole, pan fried with scallop roe and seaweed butter and served with spinach and sautéed potatoes. I had a little taste and it was fantastic. All in all, the service was superb and our meal practically perfect. We will definitely return.

The staff here are honestly some of the nicest people, whether it's the managers or the waiters, always smiley and keen to make you feel at ease. When people ask for a nice place to take friends for an evening meal in and around Kent I always recommend this place, cosy great location (near the sea, so perfect to stop by after a long coastal walk) and great company. Can't recommend it enough.

I love how it's very festive for the holidays just like every other place in the area. We came here with a group of ladies to grab some drinks, hang out and have some interesting conversations. One of the ladies mentioned that they are known for their oysters which then of course I ordered half a dozen. Not bad, but not my favorite. Would I ordered them again? Absolutely. You have very hard-working stuff behind the bar to serve you your beer and cocktails and even take your order for some must have oysters. Highly recommend check this place out.

Avoid eating here at all costs…read more We got severe food poisoning and have been unwell for 5 days now....I have emailed them but received no response. If you go on a Sunday the menu states you HAVE to have 2 courses, I only wanted 1 but then you still have to pay £30. And we got the poisoning from the trout starter that we didn't want, but also didn't want to wast our money. The member of staff that booked our table the night before was lovely. The female member of staff who served us really didnt want to be there. Like she was hungover or is treated badly by management. Food was oversalted, not tasty and small portions. The other 2 guests we were with were also underwhelmed by the food. The trout starter came with a blue oil that was tasteless, and very unappealing to look at. We spent £150 . Overpriced. Underwhelmed and very unewell.

My bf and I grabbed a seat here while waiting for the coach bus back to London. We got ourselves two reasonably priced ciders and split a steak sandwich. The steak sandwich was somewhat more creative than what I would expect in a place like that, and while I didn't like the chutney sauce (a personal preference), the bread, steak, and chips were well prepared and flavoured. Overall, I quite enjoyed the meal! The service was friendly enough and the food was served within a reasonable amount of time. I think if you're looking for something filling, recognizable, and a step away from all that seafood, this place would be sufficient.

The Longreach resturant is part of a Premier Inn franchise near Borstal Hill…read more The resturant has a bar attatched, which also has its own bar menu and comfterble seating area. The resturant has good seating, with large tables for groups. The menu is a mixture of british and british adapted food (e.g indian, burgers etc). The food is okay but nothing to write home about overall. This said the resturant is quite popular, especially at the weekend and on annual occasions (e.g mother's day). Pricewise the Longreach isn't overally expensive but nor is it cheap for although portion sizes are good the quality is not overally impressive.
