Service was okay. Not much available parking nearby, so plan to walk a bit when you find a street space nearby. Fish was good, but a little greasy and they left the dark skin on, which is not appetizing. The chips were average thick cut fries. Nothing special about the chips. Expect to pay about $10 for one fish fillet and chips. If you want ketchup or tartar sauce they charge $0.25 per squeeze packet. While that would be crazy in the U.S., it appears to be somewhat common in the U.K.

This was looked busy and had good feedback. And it turnes out this is very well deserved. It's a typical Fish'n'Chips shop...small, simple and busy. Several kinds of fish can be chosen, a bunch of burgers, some veggie options and kids menus. Calamari, Nuggets etc. are on the menu too. Also some cheap lunch deals. We had a Fish (cod) and Chips, some Dr. Peppers and a Texas Burger. The Burger was too dry, tasted good otherwise. Not huge, not fancy, but fair priced. But it's all about the Fish....and it was great! Tasty, fresh, crispy, hot. All you need and want from this kinda shop. Most people take out their meals. There are also a few seats inside and a few outside. They also deliver. We sat outside with our dog (not allowed inside). All in all a very good meal. Burger ok, but I won't take that into the rating....because it's about the Fish!

They cook in beef dripping....and yikes and gazooks....it is BLOODY MARVELOUS! So I was again visiting my friends and have kept the smell and memory of this place in my mind for six years. Would I be disappointed.....no feckin' way!!!! The place still offers a simple style with formica tables a mug of tea and mushy peas...and that smell.....oh it's divine!!!! My lunch which I had flown 4000 miles for was better than I had hoped it might be. Bearing in mind Whitstable has been discovered by London and now has many trendy independent shops, galleries and eating places I am so pleased the V C Jones has not changed on iota. I will be back........unless anyone can do a quick take out for me...deliver it to Woodstock Vermont where I have some original Sarsons vinegar ready and waiting.....
