We camped here from 9/28 - 10/1 in SITE #35. This campground is easy to find and check in was a breeze. It is just below a neighborhood but not walkable to local restaurants or grocery stores. The camp host is awesome and very friendly. He will deliver wood to your site or you can pick up at the host site. The beach is probably 300 yards from the campground but you can see and hear it from most of the beachfront sites. There are a lot of squirrels running around, ALOT, so I'd advise not to leave out food or things you don't want carried away. I have never seen so many unafraid squirrels. They go thru the fire pits also so be careful not to put things in there as they make a huge mess!I did see maintenance workers putting something down all of the squirrel holes tho. The bathrooms are super clean but no showers. You can drive to Morro Bay and use the showers there for free. There is no dump station or tank water fill up here but free at Morro Bay Campground. Our "beachfront" site was on the end, all sand and had a table and fire pit. The have painted hash marks on the pavement to designate where your rig can be parked. The sites are very close together and you don't have much distance between you and your neighbor. It reminded me of the Rincon Pkwy sites. If you have a long coach, it will be a challenge for you to get in the spot if in between two others who have already arrived. Id suggest an end spot to reduce your odds of issues. The middle sites are a no way for me as you only have a small strip of grass/dirt shared with the site on the other side of you and there isn't enough fire pits or tables for each site so that is a first come first serve type of a deal. The hook up sites are even smaller and you can see directly into your neighbors pop outs without much of an ocean view. The hook ups sites also back up to a hill that is used for the locals to climb down and access the beach. There are signs everywhere in regards to generator thieves. There is a local trail above the beach that has amazing views. It can be found just up the road and turn left on the last street before the traffic light. In order to access the beach you must walk a long way thru the sand so it isn't right there right there. If you have littles Id suggest you bring some sort of a wagon to tote supplies to the beach with you for the day as it isn't an easy trek back and forth with small ones. The beach is huge, clean and amazing! Beautiful shells and the waves looked great for surfing and paddle boarding. You can see Morrow Bay rock and I believe you can walk all of the way down to it. Id recommend sites #35, #1, #11, B,C & D.

Low key Anniversary camping trip. Lovely views walking around the park. Easy walk to get on the beach. Nice size camp sites with options for placing your tent on the paved surface if sand area isn't large enough to accommodate it. Our site #5 was good for us, on the beach front side so we could look out on the water if we took a few steps up the small dune. Clean flush restrooms, no showers but easy enough to take a wash cloth and wash your face and hands at the sink. And you can drive to Morro Bay State Park with your pass and take a hot paid shower. Friendly ranger at the front gate. The camp host was a lovely nice lady, who we purchased fire wood from. Fun trip for our 3 days. We will be coming back

The layout of the campground looks like a parking lot. Our site was in the median which isn't very pretty. There's no privacy between sites. The bathrooms weren't the cleanest. The people checking us in were very nice. There are picnic tables and fire pits for every site. The beach isn't visible from the sites but is a very short walk. Very beautiful beach. Overall I think the campground is overpriced especially considering the lack of beauty.

and yest it looked like that

We booked two sites about eight months in advance and were told by the girl who works in the office…read morethat we were being given some of the best sites in the park. Then the owner, Larry, called us a couple of weeks before our arrival and asked us to switch sites. Telling us that the ones we had booked were no good and the ones he wanted us in were much better. We declined. Glad we did. The sites he wanted us to switch to were half the size of the ones that we already had. He was just trying to gaslight us so that someone else could have our spots. Once we got there the entire back half of our site was completely flooded preventing us from backing in all the way. Fortunately it dissipated quickly. When we mentioned it to Larry he said that we would have to "talk to God about that". They do have showers on site but the hot water didn't work. When my wife went to the office to mention it to them she was told that we were doing it wrong and the way to do it is to turn on the hot water faucet that is on the outside of the bathroom until hot water comes out and then go to the shower and turn on the hot water. I don't know why we didn't think of that. By the second day of that we were told that the water heater was broken and there would be no more hot water until it was fixed. That didn't happen during the remainder of our stay. Lastly, my daughter and her partner had four storage totes stacked neatly in front of their rv and Larry came over and very rudely told her that they couldn't have those there and that "this isn't a storage facility". Completely ignoring the other campers there who also had totes outside of their rigs. Overall we were very happy to be in Morro Bay but next time we're there we'll seek accommodations elsewhere. Between the facilities being kept in a state of disrepair and, most of all, Larry we have no desire to stay in that park again.

I'm still in the tent camping community wich I love. Affordable, friendly service, clean, showers available w warm water, walking distance to the ocean with in a 100 yards, my favorite also walking distance 10 min walk to the coffee shops and all good all round. Good location near the beach( morro rock)
