The overall look and feel of the store is indistinguishable to any Sainsbury's Local I have visited, they also support Smart Shop, where you are able to use the Sainsbury's Smartshop app to scan items as you're walking around the store, and then use your phone to pay and leave. The only difference I noticed about this store compared to other Sainsbury's Local locations, was how the milk was displayed on a metal milk crate, rather than the traditional open refrigerated shelf. The store was reasonably clean I did notice the selection of to-go food and drink to be quite pricey, perhaps this is to push people towards purchasing a meal deal. (With a lack of gluten-free options on here other than an awful seeded bread sandwich if you're lucky, this isn't something I'd go for) They do close at 10 pm here, which could catch out-of-town visitors off guard, as Sainsbury's Local stores are usually open until 11 pm, the extra hour is crucial for me so it is a shame they close this store early, especially as their is a lack of alternatives nearby. 3*

However as this place is so huge you'll probably still find what you are looking for. Since I've lived in Oxford I've come here about a dozen or so times. We tend to try and stick to mid evening as the crowds die down a bit and they are not quite into their horrible restocking mode. Generally you can find fresh products and a wide selection of near everything (do not come to this Tescos if you are looking for home goods/ electronics/ etc). The prices as it is Tescos are decent. The staff are generally friendly as long as you're not getting the end of shift crowd. PROS: Large selection Good quantity of stock Price CONS: Gets ultra busy Leftover stock can be of bad quality Other side of the ring road.

It's got a huge range of items, although no adult clothing (other than underwear) or much in the way of electronics/media/toys, unlike even bigger stores. For groceries, though, it's got a lot to offer. Fruit and veg are of good quality and usually well-stocked. The deli and fresh fish counters offer a lot of choice, and they even have a large 'Polish food' section. They have two 'car trolleys' which amuse small (and big) kids greatly, and make the shopping trip easier with children who are too big for the trolley seats but too small to walk all the way around without whining. Staff are friendly and helpful, and offers on food are good value.

There is a Pharmacy based within the store, which is great if you have a prescription, or just needs some help with a medical issue and haven't had the chance to get anywhere due to work. The store doesn't have the greatest of layouts, and the members of staff are not the most helpful. There always tends to be lots of space on the shelves from where they have not restocked, and this is disappointing, especially as they seem to not stock up the items on offer most of the time. There are always queues at the checkouts, and regardless of Tesco's saying that they will open up more checkouts if over three people are queing they never do, and there are always at least 5 checkouts not in use whilst the queues are stretching half way up some aisles. The cafe is always busy, with dirty tables. The carpark is a really good size, with plenty of disabled parking and family bays. I would recommend that if this is your local Tesco shop online and get them to fight their way around and deliver the goods to you.

In town for an RSC visit and doing some shopping at the retail park I noticed a Greggs offering a…read morebacon roll and coffee for £2 and thought we'd do it after the M&S etc trip. How I regret not doing it there and then. Big poster advertising bacon rolls in M&S cafe and inertia drew me in to a particularly bad snack experience. I queued in a cafe littered with rubbish and trays and thought someone will be out to clean shortly. A member of the public excused himself for stretching in front of me for serviettes at the counter saying" I'd better do the cleaning for them" as he went off to make some space for him and his kids to eat. I got to the counter and it was quite clear why no cleaning was done as the poor guy on duty was dementedly and valiantly trying to serve customers, coordinate drinks and snacks and deal with complaints about waiting/temperature of drinks etc. We should have left then, I know, but you feel committed and think that the M&S brand will somehow shine through eventually. No. Bacon rolls sold out (overworked guy had no time to take in the huge Hot Bacon Roll poster of course). I continued (madly, I agree) and ordered 2 sausage rolls and two coffees. Rolls came a good while after the coffees despite the fact they are simply microwaved. And served on the cheapest paper plate, the like of which I haven't seen since the seventies. I looked at our table and at the bill of £11.15 and thought longingly about Greggs and how foolish I had been to continue. In an attempt to help the guy I moved some trays including our own only to find that there is nowhere to put them. You have to somehow hand them back over the heads of the poor souls waiting in the queue. No wonder they are left, along with packaging and used crockery and cups for new customers to clear away to make space to eat. (I took photos of filthy floor etc if you would like them for training purposes.) I realise it is only a cafe and a pit stop for weary shoppers but that is exactly why it shouldn't be stressful or unenjoyable. After wandering around the gorgeousness that is the M&S store you want to experience similar in the cafe even if just to fortify yourself for another round of shopping. As it was my partner and I just chuntered to each other at how surprising that M&S could let this go on and what a waste of money it had been and how breakfast had been spoiled and why did we let M&S get away with such poor treatment of shoppers.

Parking can be a bit of a nightmare due to the number of shops on Maybird Retail Park and bizarrely this store doesn't appear on the M&S website search for Simply Food branches in Warwickshire. However, it is there and is packed out most weekends with the cream of Stratford-upon-Avon shoppers doing their main shop and the rest of us who like to buy bits and pieces.
