I was not recognized or greeted. After about 10-15 Min I went back to car, ate lunch and saw the couple leave the office. I then went in, rang the bell. Finally a tech can out and said he could take a check but not Credit cards. He took my check. Poor customer service, almost as bad as Wal mart as to making a payment in person. I think 30 minutes is too long.

They came out to look at it and determined it was a small hole in one of the copper pipes that was caused by two pipes rubbing together. They fixed it and billed me. However, I figured it was probably a warranty repair as the system was only 2 years old and asked them to look into it. They said they would and to hold off paying the bill until they got back to me. A month went by and I had not heard from them, so I recycled the bill. They called me a week later to say it was not a warranty repair and I had to pay. I told them I had thrown the bill away and to please mail me a new one. I then went on vacation for a few weeks, figuring I would pay the invoice when we got back into town. When I got back, I had forgotten about it and there was no invoice in the mail. A couple of months later, we received a court summons in the mail. Star was suing us for non-payment of the invoice, plus 24% interest and court costs. Needless to say, we were shocked. My wife and I both have excellent credit. We pay our bills on time. I never received another invoice in the mail. I never received a phone call telling me to pay the invoice. Star claims they called, but I looked in my phone records and there were no calls from them or any phone number close to theirs. There were no voicemails from Star on either of our phone lines. Long story short, we had to call their attorney, jump through hoops, beg and plead and finally were able to pay the amount due (not interest or court costs) to the owner. However, because the court date was already set, I still had to go to court to ensure that the case was dismissed. Suing your customers instead of sending them additional invoices, or sending the invoice to collections, is pretty much the worst possible business practice I can think of. Needless to say, we will not be using Star again.

Ends up they come out again for no charge. A different tech came and told me that wire did need to be connected and when he did all was well. He told me the connection was very loose so he had to recrimp wire to make tight then left saying sorry this happened. As I said b4 when I connected wire it was very tight fitting. I believe 1st tech left wire barely connected so eventually it would come loose as it did Problem is if I did not catch this problem I could of been charged for a communication circuit board which would have been very expensive. The first tech knew that the wire had to be very tight to work properly and did not do so. So an unsuspecting customer could potentially have had to pay an expensive repair charge. Beware

I am not normally someone to write an angry review on the internet, but there's no other word for…read morethe service I received from Senger's than "incompetent." While the person I spoke to on the phone about my refrigerator was very kind, they couldn't commit to an appointment more specific than "in a day or two" repeatedly over the course of several days. Once a technician came (he called me on his way to my house a few days after my first call insisting I leave work to meet him), he looked at the wrong part for a few minutes, left to sit in his truck for 15 minutes, then came back and declared the fridge unrepairable. He then spent another 15 minutes going on and on about how terrible all modern refrigerators are and charged me $135 for his time. A friend recommended someone that could give me a second opinion, and they were able to immediately diagnose the problem (confirming that the Senger's technician did not even understand how this unit worked), ordered parts, and returned a few days later to finish the job in just a few minutes, all for $230.

As far as the men who came out to do the installation: the owner and his second in command were both AMAZING. They are knowledgeable, efficient, and HONEST and receive an A+ grade from me. (I am a "retired" residential and commercial plumber, and have been in more than 2,000 homes for work in the DC area when I lived up there) I've worked with some amazing contractors ----- so I believe Mr. Senger to be the "real deal" and HIGHLY recommend them to anyone. Sorry about the refigerator repair story review, but I would hire these guys again in a heartbeat----and No: this is not a paid commercial announcement! :) Hire Senger's, you will not be disappointed.

The installation hit a couple unforeseeable snags so the project was 3 days, but they made sure that we had heat. I also was able to meet several of their staff and was very impressed by their work ethic, knowledge and kindness. I had to call this week about a rattle I had never heard before. Kyle was here the NEXT morning. He spent several hours under my house and inside. He didn't "see" anything but removed and retightened possible causes. We waited for 2 cycles of the unit and we believe the rattle is gone. If not Kyle assured me that it would be fixed if it reappeared. I am very thankful to Excel Heating and Cooling for excellent service staff and product. PS they also sent me the most delicious airpacked sleeve of fresh cookies in a tote, that was a huge hit at Thanksgiving week in WNY, as a thank you.

Original complaint: My AC would not turn off / running constantly…read more Diagnosis: Bryan w/Excel Heating & Air stated my ac's coil was leaking & currently blowing "poisonous" R22 refrigerant into house. He stuck an instrument inside unit in garage and it began beeping nonstop, which he said indicated the coil leaking. He also stated the motor needed to be replaced even tho it was running non stop. He stated my AC was not worth fixing and needed to be replaced at an approx. cost of $7000. He advised me he put some coolant in ac even tho it was leaking to make me "comfortable overnight" but it would eventually leak out; and said no charge for the added coolant. Lastly, he adjusted the thermometer settings on the wall before leaving & the ac was still running when he left. We agreed I would call him w/a decision the following a.m. He asked me to call him on his cell number listed on business card. Instead, he called me the following a.m. at 10:30 to see if I'd made a decision. That same morning, a 2nd opinion from a different heating & air company first looked at thermostat & stated the ac was turned to off position. He later verified my ac is working fine, but the motor itself was stuck in the "on" position and was why it was running continually and needed to be replaced @ $815. He assured me there is NO LEAK in the coil. They put the same instrument in garage unit (as Bryan had used the previous day) & there was no beeping to indicate a leak. I was dumbfounded. He concluded my entire ac did NOT need to be replaced, only the motor. I called Excel Heating & Air back to report these findings, talked to DAVID. I did not mention Bryan had stated he added coolant until David asked if I would pay for coolant added. I verified Bryan said no charge for the added coolant and did not charge me anything before leaving. (Why did Bryan shut the ac off on thermostat before leaving the previous day if he added coolant?). Moral to story: ALWAYS GET 2ND OPINION. I originally called Excel because of their 100% rave, positive reviews. However I am aware there are companies businesses can hire to input positive reviews online for a fee.
