Hope Center Thrift Store has moved as of June 2019 to the old G&W grocery store building in…read moredowntown Mt. Vernon. While it's a bit further off the highway and not as easy to find, this is a larger space and it's already obvious that they needed more room for the store because they now have a wider range of merchandise including some furniture items at great prices. There are still some pretty cool old signs from this building's former life as an old school grocery store! I really enjoy this type of thrift store that may be a little rough around the edges but offers a little bit of everything and very affordable prices. I will make a special effort to stop in when possible!

I called ahead and talked to Hannah who helped me do as much over the phone as possible to minimize my time in the pharmacy. I normally go to Costco but going to Costco two days before Thanksgiving sounds like grounds to make me committed somewhere. I am a fan of independent mom and pop outfits over heartless big box stores. Boy, coming here was totally the right decision. Hannah was ready for me just as I walked in, I was in and out in a flash. My insurance went through seamlessly, I was astounded. This was so much easier than my beloved Costco. The price might have been less too! I couldn't believe it. Thank you for making everything so easy and making me feel like family. I am so grateful

However, when the time comes for me to need more baby stuff, the Glenstone location might shift into first place, simply because it's bigger. True Story: I got a few shirts and some onesies that... still had the price tags on them. Yup - used prices on new items. I felt like I was cheating somehow. You can find amazing deals on clothes, bath tubs, car seats, crib bedding, toys, strollers and more! Some stuff looks worn but other things seem to be stuff people got at showers but didn't need and couldn't return. Other Mothers is such a great store and great idea! Surely, most mothers and mothers-to-be don't know about this store or, why would they spend billions of dollars on stuff that you can find here, in new/good/great condition, for cents on the dollar? My mom sure knows her stuff and I'm lucky she brought me here. It was my first day of looking around at baby stuff since, well, since I found out I'm pregnant with my first baby, and now I know that have great options. :) See ya there!
