Large Jerk Chicken Platter (extra corn bread instead of cabbage)
    Leena S.

Another meal, and Morgan's is still worthy of the high star Yelp acclaim and serves up some very delicious Caribbean Island cuisine. We have been here several times now and have ordered the oxtail platter, jerk chicken platter, curry chicken platter as well as a side of mac and cheese. This time we had the Red Snapper Platter. It was great, just wish there was nice snapper for the price. It's a whole snapper bones and all! The portion sizes are very generous and we easily split a large platter between two adults. The platters are served with rice and beans, cabbage, plantains and a piece of corn bread. The chicken is succulent, flavorful, and spicy. The corn bread is among the best I've had and the mac and cheese amazing. The rice and beans was as Caribbean as you're going to get. The only thing I didn't care for is their cabbage or mixed vegetables, because it's bland in comparison to the other food on my plate. The main reason, my reviews forgo a star is the salt content as well as it takes a while to get your order. We usually do take-out, but there is casual dining seating inside as well as outdoor tables.

Food was great and had a hint of spice. We ordered the oxtail, bbq ribs, and jerk chicken sweet. Their patties get sold out pretty fast we only were anle to try the beef patty. Medium is for one person and Large is a shareable size. They have a one bathroom and its unisex but honestly looks scary.

Rasta pasta waa very tasty and delicious except for the overcooked chicken pieces. Curry chicken was too salty and curry masala needed to cooked more it tasted that turmeric taste. The roti wrap was disappointing. Very stale. Seems like the standards dropped. Hoping this review will help them improve the quality/taste of the foods

What a gem! I ordered the medium BBQ Jerk Chicken and it was FANTASTIC!!! Even the cabbage was superbly flavored. And who even compliments cabbage, right?!? It was THAT good! The chicken was juicy, the cornbread had a lovely distinct taste unlike your run-of-the-mill cornbread, and the rice was good, too! I wished there were more plantains but that's just me being greedy. Their medium portion was more than enough for 2 meals so I had the rest for lunch the next day. My server was kind and helpful. The place could use a little sprucing up, especially the bathroom (...it's ok...I wasn't eating in there), but despite all that, it just felt comfortable. Looking forward to returning when the weather is warmer so I can dine outside. It's got an ideal corner location to people watch.

I stumbled upon Morgan's Island Grill when I visited New Jersey. It's located in a cute little neighborhood called Highstown. The restaurant itself is a cute like hole in the wall with both indoor and outdoor seating. I was greeted and my order was taken by the owner, himself. He was such a friendly and helpful person. I love my spicy food so immediately ordered the Jerk Shrimp meal and boy...IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Spicy, flavorful, good portion and they sure were not stingy with their shrimp. I was told not to leave NJ without having Jamaican food and now I know why-it's non like it anywhere else.

We vacationed in Jamaica, and unfortunately stayed at a resort without much Jamaican food. As soon as we returned to NJ, we knew we had to visit Morgan's again. It's been a minute, and I'm happy to say it's as good as ever. We grabbed some Red Stripes from the bar down the block, and arrived just in time to grab a table outside where a Jamaican band was playing. Service was quick. We ordered the roti skin appetizer. I had dry rubbed chicken wings with a side of plantains, cabbage & rice. My meal was delicious - super fresh and enjoyable. My husband had some sort of chicken too (I forget how it was prepared) but he liked it with the spicy bbq sauce on the side. (The roti never arrived and we had to ask for it to be removed from our bill.) Do yourself a favor and try Morgan's - you'll love it!

Curry chicken and shrimp with cabbage, rice and peas and cornbread. Can I say delicious? Oh and I also had a spinach patty, spicy but good.

The food was delicious, service is accommodating and the owner was very gracious. Please support this black owned business. You won't be disappointed.

Excellent food. I loved everything on my plate except the cabbage. My man loved everything on his too besides the cabbage as well lol. His curry goat was very tender. The mac and cheese was yummy and so was their cornbread. I just wish they offered normal sized bottles of water; we received mini bottles. We'll be back to try something new. I thought they had lunch specials (saw online), but I did not see that on the menu.

    Every dish was delicious

I needed to have some good food for my daughter's baby shower and I called Morgan's Island Grill and we talked about what I wanted. Morgan was so friendly and patient with me he made me feel like a member of his family so I knew the food would be good. On the day of the event he walked in very happy to be there and brighten up the room. Well not only was the food delicious he brought food I did not order. Every dish was chef's kiss. People were lined up and ready to eat every last bite on their plates. People went back for seconds and were still able to take food home with them. Morgan went above and beyond serving food, joking, cleaning just a genuine nice man with a big heart that knows how to cook. I highly recommend this restaurant and catering service. You will not be disappointed! Thank you Morgan!i

Ordered 4 deconstructed rotis: 2 chicken and potato, a goat and a jerk chicken. 3 with paratha root and 1 with buss up shut. All were super tasty-deep and (not too) spicy flavor, really good sized portions (it gave me 3 meals) and packed nicely. substitutes for the curried potatoes that typically go along with the meal are available. I would personally get the buss up shut variety of roti or opt for the wrapped version in the future the chickpea filling was quite messy due to my error of ripping it. A very satisfying meal nonetheless. I'm looking forward to trying some of their other offerings.

I ordered beef ox tails which were always in a flavorful brown gravy over white rice with sweet plantains and sautéed cabbage with some mixed vegetables. Last night they were in a sauce that is best described as a sticky, gluey bbq sauce that I have never experienced there in the past. There was just a tiny amount of sautéed cabbage though I was grateful for it as a palate cleanser. One piece of sweet plantain, in all fairness, I did order the small versus a large order. The rice was unpleasant with that dark, sticky sauce already stirred into it so there was no escaping it. (Today I took an entire pint of leftover white rice from a previous oriental meal and stirred it into Norah's rice to make it at least edible though still not delicious like it used to be.) I am extremely disappointed Norah seems to have changed her beef oxtails brown gravy recipe. For me ... it completely changed my opinion about her beef oxtails. I miss how it used to taste.
