For example, the bathroom flooding due to frozen pipes, not having water due to frozen pipes, inhabitable living conditions due to James forgetting to turn the furnace on, and numerous other complaints and concerns left unaddressed. This ultimately made me decide not to resign my lease. I requested to do a walkthrough with James after I moved out and it was noted some of the marble floor tiles in the bathroom were damaged. I told James some of the marble tiles had cracked due to my apartment flooding and being below freezing for well over a month. James then stated there were scratches on some of the marble tiles. I pointed out that it is normal wear and tear on flooring and according to the lease, my security deposit is not to be used for normal wear and tear. Not to mention, many scratches were in front of where the washing machine was. Due to the freezing conditions, James sent employees to come over to fix the frozen pipes. His employees pulled my washing machine out multiple times causing scratches. James stated he was withholding my $800 security deposit and requested I pay for all new flooring in the bathroom because he "can't find any to match the existing tile." I told James that it was not my responsibility to pay and that I am still requesting my security deposit back. It has been months without the return of my security deposit. Overall not a good experience and would not recommend renting from him!!!! Unfortunately, he has blocked me on all platforms so I am unable to leave a review on Facebook which is where his rental properties are managed.
