I was pretty dazzled by the office when I went in for my first interview with this firm after I was in a vehicle accident, where I was broadsided in an intersection by an unlicensed driver who ran a red light back in 2013. But little did I know that my case would be dragged on for 5 years. You see I was so certain in that interview that only my best interest would be served, and that when I was promised by their case manager that the firm would fight for my rights, and that the firm would work for the standard 1/3 of the settlement after my case was settled, and that they would only take their 1/3 AFTER all my doctors bills were paid. After all it was the firm that would be sending me to their tried and true physicians. So without any doubts of their morals and certain of their promises I signed their contract and was told I would be contacted by one of the team and told where to begin my recovery. I left that office in Costa Mesa feeling certain that I would I be treated with dignity and professionalism. But after 6 months went by, going to different doctors at their behest, a neurologist who gave me injections in my c-spine, then seeing a chiropractor twice a week for about 4 months, I called the office of Morey and Upton to find out what was new with negotiations with the defenses insurance company. I was told that all the associates were busy and that I could leave a message for the case manager Tracy Tang who was in charge of my case. Well I did so but was never contacted back, so I waited another couple of days and tried again, well this same game of dodge the client went on for about a month until I finally called the firm and was told that Miss Tang was no longer with the firm, but my new case manager Miss Randi Reicht was now in charge of my case and that I could speak to her. Well Randi seemed nice and was very concerned that it was so long without any word from the firm, she assured me that the defenses insurance had paid off their policy limits which were only $15,000, but not to worry because I had an underinsured policy that was upwards of $500,000 and that the firm would now begin negotiations with my insurance co. AAA. So I waited as I was told to, but asked if I could have a portion of the $15,000 that was sitting in the firm paid by the defense as I was not able to work and was in severe debt. I was told no because that money was part of a bigger settlement and if they were to give me a portion, that may negate the bigger settlement, BUT they told me I could take out a loan by an agent called Oasis, who worked with the firm and that I could use them for a small loan and pay it back after reaching the final settlement. I did this and after Mr. Morey signed off on the loan for $600.00 (which was not even enough to pay my rent) but what else could I do? I was under contract with Morey and Upton and had to do as they said. I could go on and on about going through another 3 case managers and having to take out another loan through Oasis for $700.00 about 6 months later and that this case would drag on for a total of 5 YEARS! Then after going through a deposition and then a Mediation where I felt like I was being represented by Barney Fife, and that after this sham of a mediation I was only awarded another $25,000 out of a $500,000 policy that was MY underinsured policy. Then the icing on my sour cake, the firm told me that I was responsible for the entire amount of the liens from the doctors and that the loans I took out for a whopping total of $1300.00 had ballooned up to $5,000.00 and that the firm was now going to take NOT the 1/3 that I was told in the beginning, but now taking 40%...WHY because the case dragged on for so long and in their contract, if the case went past a certain amount of time their expense went up!! But wasn't it them that dragged this on?? YES. So this was their final breakdown and dispersal of funds after all liens were negotiated down, OUT OF A TOTAL OF $40,000.00, THE FIRM WOULD TAKE $17,000.00 THEN I WOULD PAY THE DOCTORS AND OASIS A TOTAL OF $17,000.00, THEN BECAUSE I TOLD THE FIRM THAT ANOTHER ATTORNEY NAMED MITCH JACKSON HAD REFERRED ME TO THEM, CHRIS MOREY WOULD GIVE $4,000.00 TO THAT FIRM (JACKSON AND WILSON) JUST FOR THE REFERRAL AND THAT I WOULD BE RECEIVING A WHOPPING $2,000.00.I ALMOST DROPPED DEAD!! I cannot say with enough emphasis that this firm called Morey and Upton was the worst experience I have ever had! That I would NEVER refer ANYONE to them or want anyone to go to them for help. Here's the kicker when I called the firm to beg for more of my money, the senior case manager named Mira told me she hears it (the begging) ALL THE TIME!, in her condescending tone, and then repeated that I SIGNED THE CONTRACT! In this same condescending tone....UGH!!! I still live in pain, mentally and physically because I was trusting enough to believe in this firm! STAY AWAY FROM THIS LAW FIRM; MOREYAND UPTON!!! They don't deserve the1 star I gave them! read more

The first thing you need to realize about an automotive accident is nothing happens quickly. Morey & Upton will do everything they can to make it move as fast as possible but this comes down to bureaucracy and red tape from the insurance companies. From the first moment that I contacted them they stayed in touch every step of the way with clear and easy to follow instructions. They made sure that they got my bases covered and the care that I deserved when my BMW was totaled by a driver who wasn't paying attention. They got me set up with a pain management doctor, chiropractor, and physical therapist. These weren't your bargain clinics either, it was a high standard of care which I greatly appreciated. While it took longer than expected (because of the insurance companies not the firm) the end result was better than I could have expected. Worst lawyers ever. My mom had a personal injury case. I shopped around for lawyers, as I work for a law firm before. The first thing I asked each and every lawyer we interviewed if the fee was 33% the lawyer from Morey and Upton said yes. When it came time to settle they changed it to 40%. The old bait-and-switch these guys are scumbags and I would never go with them they are not trustworthy. When I got in my car accident I was 8 months pregnant. A woman backed her 98 expedition up on top of my Toyota Camry. Obviously her wrong doing. After that I went to the hospital where I started having contractions and had to be admitted for observation. I ended up being discharged. My son was breeched so I had previously scheduled to turn my baby with my OB. After the accident I was advised not to so I don't put anymore stress on the baby. So I had to have a c section because of it. My car was valued at 12 thousand less than what it was before the accident. After all that, my lawyer misty was only able to get me 5,000 with my settlement and said if she continued the case I would most likely get less. So I took that amount. My lawyer didn't contact me for 4 months after the accident and never sent me to see their doctors. The only reason I got in Contact was because I continued to call and leave voicemails since she was never at her desk. It was a pain to get a call back or an answer. My Husband was in a horrible accident last year on his way to meet me at my son's school on a Friday for his Year End Summer Carnival when he was T-boned on his driver's side by a medium sized truck who ran a red light. I had a horrible case manager by the name of Nimsi De La Cruz who has never returned my calls since April. Voicemail after voicemail after voicemail. Which means Morey & Upton is keeping something away from me. Very sad and disappointed that they seemed like great people in the intake and deceived me and others. Beware! I definitely cannot recommend Morey and Upton. They took my case in August 2013 and closed it September 2015. I was rear-ended by another vehicle so this was supposed to be an easy case; it wasn't. Lorraine was in charge of my case towards the end, and she's a nice lady. Unfortunately when it came to my case, it seemed like nether she, nor the lawyer had any real leverage to solve the case in our favor. In the end, it took over 2 years for me to receive a check for under $1990.00 The case ended up closing for $8k but most of it went to the doctor, then the lawyer got his share and I got the leftovers!! It got funny in the end because Morey and Upton was charging me an additional $50 for some legal maneuver that I'd think was included in the attorney fees, it wasn't. I told Lorraine to talk to the lawyer and waive this $50 fee since my financial situation is so horrible, she talked to the attorney and he declined. Really? This is how Morey and Upton got $50 more then I did when my case settled. Think about the above real-life situation and act accordingly!!! read more

My accident occurred in June of 2012. The chiropractor I was going to referred me to this law office. I was passed around from case manager to case manager and never in the 2 and a half years I dealt with them, was able to speak to an attorney. I was rear ended by a cable company truck and had many physical issues which they claimed were soft tissue problems and therefore not very valuable. In the end, I got very little money. The doctors and attorneys were well paid. I would have been better off just going through my own insurance company. In the years I dealt with this firm, I had lots of problems getting in touch with anyone. I was almost always told my case manager of the day was in a meeting and could not be reached. They would rarely call back. What I was told I would receive was far less than what I was eventually got. This was a very unsatisfactory experience.
