Absolutely love what they done with place!…read more We came here for the first time for an engagement party on Saturday and were impressed. From the chic decor to the smart uniforms and exemplary service, 46 & York is a welcome addition to the Auckland bar scene! Housed in a brick and weatherboard style villa with wooden floors and TWO outdoor areas, it was perfect for the wide range of ages at the party. What's more, they even let us bring in our own decks and said we could stay until 3am! I'm excited to go back and try this place on normal night out. Their street side seating gets a tonne of afternoon sun so it'd be a great spot for after work drinks on a hot summers night.

I 100% love everything about this restaurant. 10/10. A+. E (if you're going by NCEA grading)…read more Whatever. It was perfect. First of all, the food is amazing. This is the second time I've been here and I ordered the exact same thing as last time because it was to die for the first time round and didn't dissappoint the second time either. I had the pork belly, and holy crap. It is hands down the best pork belly I have ever had. The aioli, let me tell you about the aioli. Everyone who dined with me the first (and second) time I was there, was mind blown. The aioli is another thing that is without a doubt the best I have ever had. And the chips were crisp. Everyone at my table enjoyed their food. The quality of the food and the drinks, and the speed at which our orders arrived was all top notch. The restaurant is just as beautiful a space as the last time we dined there. Service was the thing that most impressed me. I guess that was the one thing I was really looking out for. With our previous experience, we loved everything except the service I guess. But that was 100% made right this time. Julian, our server looked after us and was super friendly. I was a little nosy and noticed how he tended to other tables and it was just as good as the way he treated us, so I feel totally comfortable praising the service and our server because it/he was so consistently tentative and polite and great. Our drinks were perfect and arrived very quickly. The calamari was great again, I would like to point out I don't eat seafood- because I hate it, not because I'm allergic, but that calamari was really freaking good. I've tried some terribad calamari in my time, and yeah, no, this was really really good. Again, the best. I don't really know what else to say. I love it. I don't care if it's unusual for people to give restaurants a 100% rating, but there nothing I found wrong with the place. The bathrooms are really nice. There is loads of parking. The food is great. The service was awesome, our server was professional and friendly and helpful and polite. Potentially one of the best service experiences I've experienced. I would definitely consider this a place for venue hire, it's not too large where the place looks empty but it's not too cramp where no one can fit. Both times I dined there, there were a lot of people but it didn't feel over crowded. I want to try the outside part of the restaurant when it warms up more, which is slowly is. I love it. And I'll be back.

A fun experience! You order from the bar and sit at a table. When they opened at 11:30am we ordered…read morefish sandwiches and they said they didn't get their delivery yet, so they walked down to the fish market and bought the fish for our sandwiches! We didn't realize they would be tried, but the pieces were huge and tasty!

Hands down, 16Tun is one of the best beers in Auckland. Located in the new Wynyard area (similar to…read moreKaka'ako in Honolulu), it's filled with apartment buildings, offices, restaurants, bars, and great food. 16Tun is just a block from the waterfront and easy to get to driving or walk around the quay. The bar looks welcoming and cozy from the outside with soft lighting, wood features, big picnic style tables, and exposed metal. Inside is also well planned with tables of various sizes, bar seating, and an open kitchen. On my last visit I got to come here twice and had excellent service with bartender/manager Nick. Cheers to owner Ewen as well, great to meet the team! On my first visit on a sleepy weekday afternoon, I got a flight (choose 8 beers) and a few singles. They have a great selection that focuses on independent New Zealand breweries. They even have nitro and cask hand pull selections, plus a great selection of cans and bottles either to-go or if there's something you really want to enjoy there. Clean restrooms are at the back. On my first visit I had a hearty lunch of fish and chips, which went great with the beer. Light and heavy at the same time. The kitchen was closed on my second visit, but if that happens while you're here there are tons of other great options nearby for food. On the weekend, this place gets busy, loud, and happy. Both experiences were worth the trip. For people that haven't visited lately, it's new ownership and staff so it's worth your time to try it again. If you're a fan of beer, this is a must-stop in Auckland.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed Portland yet, it's my favourite bar in Auckland!!!…read more Lovely warm inside area sporting an eclectic array of old school couches with some of the best live music I have ever had the pleasure of listening too. Such a mix if instruments! One afternoon you will go and see a beautiful old man playing the harmonica, the next night could be a jazz band then a buzzy fellow on the guitar... LOVE it! There is a bit I a separate room for dining if you want to sit and have a meal. Their menu is right up my alley! Good old New Zealand boil up is my fav then an interesting mix of snacks or full meals. But wait there's more! An outside area protected from the wind where you sit on kegs with cushions or the benches around the edge looking at the graffiti art that surrounds you. If you haven't been I highly suggest you do. I prefer weeknights or early afternoon as I'm a bit crowd phobic and it can get rather busy in the weekend nights but don't let that deter you as it's pumping with beautiful live music and happy faces Enjoy
