Okay, this may not be quite 'as good as it gets' for a public square - but it has a lot of value to…read moreme since I live nearby, and it's one of the city's very few meaningful public spaces. It's a very well designed area, reaching the corner of Main and Queen streets - the heart of downtown Brampton, and occupies a good amount of space. Several business have direct access to it, such as: The Works, Starbucks, T By Daniel, Little Shop of Ice Cream, and there are of course many other businesses nearby. Realistically, most of its use is during the late Spring and Summertime. There's a wonderful Winter Festival which completely packs out, and a handful of other things in the fall - otherwise, this place is alive in the summer. There's a few concert series which takes place here, and other festivals. What has recently brought up the profile and crowds in the last year is the giant screen they've installed. Yeah, it took a screen to draw the crowds, but it's still a lot of fun regardless, and has a very unifying, community feel. At least twice a week during the summer, they play mostly throwback, fun movies. There's great picture quality, and the sound is far better than what you may expect. It's also been used for big sporting events, such as Blue Jays and Raptors playoff runs, and at the time of writing: the 2016 Euros. What a great way to enjoy supporting your team with others, and for no cost. It's also been a great way to help support the downtown businesses - which are mostly local and independent. More and more is happening here, and importantly: it's increasingly successful. For example: this year they started doing free workout classes, such as yoga and zumba. Not my thing personally, but they've been pretty well-attended. There's a growing sense in the city that this is a great place to be. It's a remarkable alternative and achievement for a city often known for sprawl, lack of activities and lacking culture. I hope that sense of community and supporting local would spread throughout the city, but I'm happy it's at least in one place for now.

Find Moskoka chairs and patio sets to schmooze any time of the day. When doing a cross-town bike ride it is a great mid-ride break station. We had come here for Afternoon Tea on a Friday at 12:00 pm for two people; it was $24.00 plus tax,…read moreper person. We each received our own pot of tea, which included unlimited loose leaf tea. Included in the meal were tea sandwiches, a variety of scones, and desserts. We loved all of the food items that were available for us to eat! The tea sandwiches were very fresh, with egg salad, cucumber and cream cheese, and turkey available. We were impressed with the presentation, along with the deliciousness of each piece. In regards to the scones, we were given a few different varieties, all of which were tasty, and fresh. I loved the cheese scone, along with the blueberry scone. The jam and cream on the side was the perfect touch to each scone, adding that 'wow' factor to each bite! We loved how soft the scones were, a definite plus when eating something that delicious. The desserts were all homemade, and quite immaculate; butter tarts, cookies, and brownies; very tasty! All of the food items were well-prepared, presented, and excellent! We were told that every item we had tried that day was homemade, which was a definite plus; we could tell that a lot of hard work was put into each food item that was prepared for us! In terms of the décor, we loved how simple, yet elegant, all of the items in the shop were. There were a lot of different items that I had never seen before, such as the stacked books with the words on the side, very creative! Customer service was top-notch; Maria was pleasant and knowledgeable, making us feel welcome during our entire stay at the café. I would highly-recommend the Afternoon Tea at this café; you will definitely get your money's worth, everything was top-notch, one of the best that I've ever been to!

A great banquet hall is worth its weight in gold, and it was a true surprise to visit Carl's, a…read morelocation that I really wish I'd visited before now. You know you're in for something good when your bus driver hears the name of the restaurant being mentioned in another conversation and says, "You'd better try the roast beef." Despite being situated near the edge of the city, in a part of Brampton that's within spitting distance of Oakville (basically, farmland almost everywhere you turn), there was no shortage of people here. I attended a book launch for Mayor-elect Patrick Brown's new book, and wasn't surprised to find out that the place was booked overcapacity. Walking in an hour before the event, I wasn't entirely surprised to find that the space was already set-up, with cards featuring fancy writing adorning each seat, free pens (FREE PENS!) and massive floral arrangements at each table. It may not be the biggest event hall/wedding space out there, but if my view of the grounds were any indication, this was already an extremely-beautiful and compelling site for a small-scale wedding or social event. Of course, there was food served at the event. While a handful of the back-line cooks looked like they'd rather be somewhere else on the few occasions they came out of the kitchen, that certainly didn't impact the quality of the food. Mini-samosas and the fabled roast beef were on-deck, with a chef cutting off giant strips for hungry guests and offering to make mini-sandwiches with horseradish and other toppings. I admit that I didn't get as full of an experience as some of the other guests, as I had to eat quickly considering the schedule of the event (people were being served just as the presentation on the book began), but I don't hold that against them. They also had what appeared to be an open bar with multiple featured cocktails that night, but I simply settled on some coffee, which was about as ho-hum as it gets. Maybe they could spring for some dark roast next time. I contemplated giving this a 4.5 out of 5 and rounding down, but I felt that the experience was enjoyable enough across the board and the site is so compelling that it deserved the top grade. If you want quality and an intimate space, this is the place for you.

Our guests were all very impressed with absolutely everything - the food, the drinks, the music, the decorations inside and outside - but what they were most impressed with is the incredible service. All of the staff were so helpful and full of energy, and truly went above and beyond for every possible request that came up. You were very accommodating with all of our little activities and decorations, and we are so thankful that you made sure the night went flawlessly.   A special thank you to: Melissa and Veronica for helping to prepare everything leading up to our special day. Bino, for setting up the outdoor ceremony for us, even though it was a little bit chilly. Jerome, Carol, and Norman for their great work in making the night so memorable.     We would recommend Carl's Catering to anyone who is looking for a special location that is different from the typical hall style wedding. The charm and love that comes from Carl's is truly one of a kind. It is also very helpful that they have packages which include the invitations, cake, decorations, DJ, etc. It takes a lot of stress out of the planning process.   We are so happy that we chose to have our special day at Carl's Catering and we will forever remember the wonderful day we experienced.   Thank you!
