BJ is just starting out and I was one of his first customers. He really got it right so I'll be using him again. As you can see below, he has a lot of skills and was not challenged by anything I threw at him.
Since he is new in the game, I started him out by having him do some minor repairs, replacing a sink faucet, installing a new TV on the wall, fixing a door that wouldn't latch, etc. If I had tried to do these jobs, it would have taken at least a full day. He did it in just about an hour. He charged $50 an hour with no trip charge and at that rate, I think I got a great deal. It really isn't how high the hourly rate is, it is how much gets done in an hour.
After seeing him work, I set him up with the big job, repairing my old cedar deck, about 300 square feet of rotten cedar planks. He removed and replaced about 2/3 of the decking and took care of buying and delivering the materials to my house. He shopped for the best price and went out of his way to locate more planks when Lowes ran out. Again, no extra charge for the service except for the labor time.
He got the deck done in about a week. He showed up on time, worked steadily without time outs that would increase the labor charge, consulted with me when necessary, and did a really good job.
Final thing was installation of four replacement windows and a toilet. This time, I ordered them myself and had him pick them up at the store. Just took a couple of days and once again, it was really good work.
I hope this review gives you a good idea of his versatility. read more
