After visiting The Oddities Show in Rosemont, it was suggested to visit this shop which I did today. I sort of knew about this shop after attending a play down the street several weeks ago. However, the time of the play and the hours of this store did not match that day. Interesting, strange, one of a kind items are here. If you visit, be sure to look up! I did have to buy an Edgar Allen Poe pill box before leaving. I was the only person in the shop and I would have stayed longer but I couldn't stand the music any longer. Beautiful store. Very well organized, not overwhelming or thrown together like other places. Lots to see, lots of awesome dark obscure art, love everything about it. And it smells so good in there. I found some good gifts and some cute things for myself. Staff is so friendly. I highly recommend this little store. read more

ONCE again, another 1st Yelp business put online by MUAH. I'm a grand explorer of Illinois and beyond. Not sure, why no one else seems to put businesses on the map, and Google SUCKS because every business gets 5 stars on there. This place has a lot to look through, and if you like Oddities and Curiousities Expo You'll love this place. It's like much much smaller version of that. It's also in downtown Elgin with a thrift store nearby to explore and of course much much more. So prime location, check it out. read more

Went to downtown Elgin to have lunch at a new Latin restaurant that was recommended by a friend(Bea Unique Kitchen which was awesome) and then stopped in a coffee shop(Sugar and Rhyme) a few blocks away to grab some dessert pastries which were also really good. Coffee shop owner told us about two new stores- Whatnots & Whimsy antiques and the Morbid Mementos Oddities shop both on the same block on Chicago Street. We will be back to visit the antique store, but had just been discussing how to design a room to display my collection of odd things, gothic art, skulls, shells, fossils, taxidermy etc. so went to Morbid Mementos. WOW! a kindred soul, collector and appreciator of the arcane. I was amazed... we walked in and it was so beautifully laid out. So many cool and creative things and beautiful Gothic decor pieces along with huge African taxidermy mounts on the walls. Gotta start saving my pennies and convince my wife that we need a Giant Roan Antelope head on the wall. Great shop for anyone who loves natural curiosities, odd mysterious things, vampires to witches and everything Halloween. Nice to see new stores and restaurants opening in the old downtown I grew up in. read more
